The dealer said that this vehicle would get 30mpg hwy.. its averaging 26 with 400 of the miles being hwy.. The side mirrors have excellent viewing range but backing up is an issue.. I have to try Lift up and around so much that my neck hurts from a road trip!.. Great trunk space.. can fit 2 strollers! I like that the seats have hard backs so my son doesn't ruin the seat with kicking it.. the people in the front have to share an armrest which is a little annoying... but overall i am happy so far. I LOVE the body.. it looks newer than an 07' and I like the controls on the steering wheel that give you the temp and the mpg and the oil life etc...The cars back is very roomy... 3 inches longer than comparable mid sized cars.. I like the big steering wheel and the center control volume for the radio. I like the compartment below the radio that clicks in to hide valuables.. good car for the price.. not as good fuel econ.. as they say.....read morehide

I beleive I managed to solve the viberation problem, this bothered me to the point it had to be fixed. I knew it was in the tire wights, I took this car to 20 different places for tire balance before the problem was corrected. My conclusion is; its a touchie situation trying to get those wheels right for a smooth ride. I had an open highway one day and decided to open her (car) up, once she gets to 100 it goes into float mood. I heard you can have this taken off but it may effect the life of the motor. I have light gray colth interior which is hard to keep clean, they stan really easy. I want this to be my "going -out car" (last car i own) but i don't know. I hate car payments....read morehide

I was one of the first people to lease this car, back in late 2006. It was love at first sight. After just 10,000 miles, the power steering needed to be replaced. A year later, the transmission needed to be replaced... and now the tires are giving me problems (or maybe it's something connected to the tires causing them to jerk to the side when trying to roll over uneven pavement on the highway). I can't wait to get rid of this thing....read morehide

View slightly obstructed by design, esp. for left turns. The trunk is roomy, lighted, and has carriers on both sides for small objects.

I have leather seats in my car and the lotion, baby oil from my legs during the summer has rubbed off sweat and not I have dirt marks, streaks on the seats. The phone system in the car needs to be just "blue tooth" compatable, not Verizon. It is comfortable and you get a lot of room inside. I love the inside of the door , they illumanate at night when the headlights are on. The cup holder is not designed to be the best place in the car. I went from a Benz to a Saturn. Don't get me wrong; you get a lot in this car for what you pay for, but I'm no longer riding on a "cloud"....read morehide

It is the best car no one has heard of. Very unique looks. Stands out in a world full of Camry's and Accord's. I think that had Toyota or Honda produced the same car, reviewers would be falling all over themselves to praise.
Has excellent acceleration. I personally like the ergonomics of the interior (my 1st time ever for a GM vehicle). In fact, I like some of the items others (other consumers and reviewers) complain about, like the huge steering wheel and the radio with the big center button.
I looked at several other cars and kept coming back to the Aura, given that I could get more of what I wanted (leather, sunroof, heated seats, etc., etc.) for about $10K less than entry level luxury cars. I came to the conclusion that I would rather have the extra $10K in my pocket than pay for a name.
My only complaint would be a couple of initial items - noise from power steering hose and sunshade rattle. I have since seen that both of these were addressed in technical service bulletins issued from Saturn earlier in 2007. I just wondered why the dealer hadn't already fixed my Aura before I bought it in Dec 2007? I guess they go on the hopes that buyers won't notice and/or complain.
But given all of the grief I have received for buying an American car (sad, I know), it IS kind of embarrassing to have to take it in after 3 weeks. AND then they didn't have the parts in stock, so now I have to go back in again. Just doesn't fit with what I have always heard about Saturn....read morehide

When Auto Week calls this the Saturn Stunner, they are sure right. What a gorgeous car. And so many standard saftety features: 4 wheel disk brakes with ABS, Traction Control, Stability control, front and rear crumple zones, and head and body airbags all around everyone. All standard. Good going Saturn! Finally, I love the 3.5 V6 engine with variable valve technology in the XE. It is the smoothest engine I've ever had. The anti-American car bigots at Consumer Guide (too lazy to even check that the 2008 has standard Stability control in their review), referred to roughness in the ZE 3.5 V6. That's so false its unreal. This is a really nice car, with almost everything you need standard....read morehide

I have 56,000 miles already and need to change out the front wheel bearings out for a second time. At 30,000 miles the first set of bearings went bad and now it is happening again. This is causing the front end to vibrate during driving. It costs over $500.00 just for the front bearing assembly parts without labor. The front rotors have also been turned down due to warping. There has been a popping sound in the steering since the car had 20,000 miles on it and the dealer claims they cannot here it. Also the transmission was misshifting, dealer said they couldnot detect it. Car broke down on the highway because it would not shift into third gear shortly after the warranty expired. The problem was that the transmission needed the be updated with a new program, but I got stuck with a $100 fee to reprogram it. I drive nearly all my miles commuting on the highway so the car it not abused. GM did not work out the bugs on this car. I highly reccommend staying away from this car. I bought this car because my Saturn SC2 ran 200,000 miles with virually no problems before I sold it. This is my last Saturn !!...read morehide

I bought an XE and after having it for only 15 months and only 5400 miles, it is in the shop. There's a popping noise coming from the steering column and the brakes moan and groan and shake at stops and on inclines. Will probably keep another year then trade it in. First and last time Saturn customer....read morehide

This is a follow up review to my earlier review. I've now had the car for one full year, and have around 9,000 miles on it. I continue to be very pleased with the car. It has excellent steering, excellent ride and handling, a very smooth and responsive powertrain, and the premium stereo provides excellent sound. The ride is firm without being harsh, and the car stays flat during braking - it drives like a much more expensive car. I've had no mechanical problems, and the car feels like it is built very solidly. It looks like a more expensive car than it is, and has many nice touches, like backlit steering wheel buttons, door handle lights (no fumbling at night) and an interesting color scheme for the lights in the dashboard. In comparison to the new Honda Accord, which has a button laden and fussy dash, the Aura has a simple and clean dashboard layout that is very easy to use. I have become sold on the OnStar concept after a woman in this area nearly died when her car went into a ravine - she was missing for a week and spent three months in the hospital. OnStar would most likely have gotten help to the scene upon impact. I highly recommend this car, and I highly recommend OnStar - it may seem expensive, but at less than a $1 a day, it seems like a deal....read morehide
