Well I guess I got the lemon, 3 brake jobs in 20,000 miles and at 21,000 miles 3 tires are shot. What a disappointment this car has been.No one else has had brake problems with their car????? I think their should be a recall.

I never owned a Subaru until my wife and I bought an Outback to replace our 2002 Honda Accord (totalled by my 18 yo son : ( ). We liked our outback so much that when we began shopping for another car - we looked at the Impreza and the XT Limited (local dealer had a loss leader 2007 on special). Like the Impreza alot - when I drove the XT and saw the price I could buy it at (superbowl sunday special), I snapped it up - and have been very pleased with the purchase. I never even considered a Forester until I saw this car - very sedate and sterile looking - like something a grandma would drive. The XT Ltd is the polar opposite - as my kid would say, it's "tight". Handles beautifully, looks sharp and has great comfort (except back seat for adults - not too roomy; but what do I care - I don't ride back there!). Subaru fit and finish is by and large surprisingly good - except minor (although annoying) rattles here and there (not on my outback, though, it is bullet-proof). Winter package with heated seats etc is a nice option for winters in Oregon - I would be nit-picking to say anything negative - I don't understand why you don't see more of them on the road - I love mine!...read morehide

I bought this car in May of 2007. This is a very good vehicle, for a very reasonable price. Driving in the snow is incredibly easy with the all wheel drive. I would highly recommend.

The Subaru Forester is a very well constructed vehicle at a fabulous price.
If quality continues I will only own Subarus from now on!

Overall, I am pretty well satisfied with this vehicle. My major complaints are the road noise at higher speeds (the dealer told me to turn up the radio-really) and the AWD transmission which by nature can be a little clunky. There are a lot of interior storage spaces, but none of them hold much. Useful center console space is taken up by another appliance plug. The gas mileage is surprisingly good-I am averaging 26.5 +/- in city/hwy driving. I try to drive "smart" by easing away from stops and using cruise control driving at the speed limit on the freeways. The vehicle handles and rides well and the seating is comfortable enough. I haven't had an opportunity to take it on an extended trip yet....read morehide

This is my 4th forester subaru from Jack Miller In kcmo. My sales man Mark Wilber has sold me all 4 and the last two have been new. I have drove them from kc to dallas, on through new mexico arizona nevada california, grand canyon denver and nebraska.
Have had standard to top of the line with all the bells and whistles and will continue to buy them until they stop making them.

I've owned this car for a short while, and I've been surprised by it's combination of excellent handling, smooth ride, and capacity.
Overall, it's the best new car I've owned--and I've owned a few. Great car for the money

Returned vehicle to Dealer UNDER WARENTY for Engine rattling noise that would sometimes go away after it warmed up, not always. LOUD enough to hear inside the vehicle with windows up & moving. Dealer & SUBARU said they know there is a problem BUT WON'T FIX IT. SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS ACCEPTABLE. I SAID IT DIDN'T DO IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND IT SHOULDN'T DO IT NOW. THEY DON'T CARE. THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY. YOU WILL HAVE A BAD PRODUCT THAT YOU CAN'T GET CORRECTED. (ASK YOUR DEALER,S SERVICE DEPT TO SHOW YOU THE TECNICAL SERVICE BULLITIN FROM SUBARU ABOUT THE COLD ENGINE START UP NOISE. IF YOU WANT TO VERIFY THIS PROBLEM.
Transmission also shifts hard at low speeds????????
Just live with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...read morehide

Rough start in morning & after 8 hrs of work. Shaky for about 20 to 30 seconds. Something about emissions & amt. of ethanol in gas. I dont feel the AC gets cold enough. They said nothing wrong.
Car made knocking noise on acceleration, bad CV joint on left. Mechanic feels might be recall cause he has seen it a few times.
This is a 2007 Forester with 2500 miles. I am disappointed....read morehide

Had this vehicle one year now. I drove it up the Seward Highway in a rain/sleet/snow storm and it hugged the road like a snake on its belly. By far the best handling car/suv I've ever driven on Alaska roads. Very roomy in the front driver's seat, but tight squeeze in the back. A couple of small mechanical issues, but nothing aggravating. The dealer has backed it no hassle to us....read morehide
