While the gas mileage is less than was represented, it is good for any size SUV. I average about 26 MPG with mixed hwy driving. Considering value for the money, the engine is responsive enough for frequent highway driving and busy urban traffic. The comfort of seats is neither remarkably comfortable nor uncomfortable. If you want a high end luxury vehicle with low noise, a sports car engine and all of the bells and whistle, you should pass. If you want reliable transportation at a lower price than comparable offerings from other manufacturers with performance that would satisfy most drivers for whom a car is not a symbol of their status or a tool of intimidation on the road, you will enjoy this car. I have been stopped by seniors and teens who liked this vehicle. I don't get all of the griping....read morehide

We traded our 2007 Honda Pilot EXL in for a 2008 Toyota Rav4 Limited (with 3rd row seating).
Blue Tooth is great. Salesman (upon delivery) hooked my wife's BB right up and she loves it.
JBL Stereo is nice even though its a stock version. Subwoofer is built in to the back of the read door which is much better than the Honda Pilot (sub woofer is attatched to left rear section and sound doesn't seem to be as clear as the Rav4.
Smooth sturdy ride compared to other larger SUVs. Sunroof is very nice as well.
Over-all....we're very pleased at what Toyota has done with the Rav-4.
The only issue is the Gas tank seems to be not the right size for this vehicle. Hopefully Toyota will add 3-5 more gallons to the gas tank size in the upcoming 2009 editions.
Even though city driving (Chicago) seems to only allow us about 14-16MPG.....High way driving 70mph - 80mph is about 22-25. Not bad for a V-6....read morehide

I droved 7000+miles with a long trip to Florida - very reliable and powerful (think of all the fast cars on the high ways in Florida!). Should a have a standard GPS, the MP3 player is hard to connect. Now I am driving it in snow country-upstate new york and I enjoy the 4X4 and the stability control the RAV4 equipped. The performance of the RAV4 is superb! The ride is very comfortable.
By the way, I test drive CRV before making the final decision. Honda CRV is an excellent option - but it doesn't have V6 trim and size is smaller than RAV4. The acceleration of CRV is ---hesitation too long for passing. The RAV4 4 cylinder is no better in this aspect.
The engine of RAV4 is quiet and smooth.
Definitely highly recommend the V6 4X4 trim of RAV4.
The "Maintenance required" light is hard to shut down - I use a non-toyota garage for regular maintenance, the the mechanic could not figure out how to turn it off - guess has to go to the dealer to do it....read morehide

Well, let me start off by saying that I dont completely hate this SUV, it's just doesn't have the room and reliability that I was hoping for. I bring my son and some of his medium sized friends to thier game and thier knees stick into the back of the front seats making it uncomfortable for everyone. I should have bought a Highlander, in retrospect. Second, the vehicle feels very cheap inside. Two weeks after I picked it up there was a grinding noise from the transmission along with a slight vibration but the dealer said it was normal. Although nothing has broken, I feel like it's just right around the corner. Not something I should expect from a brand new 2007 $31,000 SUV that besides the V6 and 4WD has very little ameneties compared to other vehicles in it's class. When I drive it alone, size really isn't an issue, but load it up with 4 high school boys and size becomes an issue, not to mention the rear cargo room leaves much to be desired....read morehide

Luckily I rented this car for a few days. Drove about 300 miles, so it was a good test drive. Really nice vechile except I could not make the seat go back far enough to be comfortable . If you are tall it will not be comfortable.

I love my RAV4 although mine is the most basic model.
The exterior looks great, the more I look at it, the more I love it. The lines are handsome, distinguishable but not over stated. Unlike CR-V, which has too many twisted curves that created an "Alien V.S. Predator" style in my opinion.
The RAV4 handles superb. I feel confident all the time even in curvy mountain roads, which exceeds my expectation. The ride is a bit stiff though, it might be the trade off of the great handling. The I-4 engine is responsive and MPG is good. The efficient optional V-6 provides 100 more horsepower.
The interior space is bright and roomy. There is also a third row seat as an option. The interior design and materials are nice especially for a SUV around $20,000. However, for top models nearly $30,000, the interior quality is not the best in its class. The standard audio system is easy to use and the sound is OK. There is an optional JBL system with blue tooth but only available to Limited models. No GPS or parking radar available at this time (GPS are cheap in Bestbuy and who needs parking radar?!).
The side-opening back door is effortless to open/close; however, it might get into your way when curbside loading. The back-mounted spare tire added some off-road flavor to the style and increase interior storage space.
Overall, it...read morehide

Although third row seat is small it comes in very handy for short trips. We love the ride, power, and sitting higher that a car (visibility).
Toyota needs to address the radio and climate controls that are virtually impossible to see during the day when wearing polarized sun glasses. This is a safety hazard because I have to look lift my glasses out of the way to see display....read morehide

smooth driving especially in the highways...gas economical, i hope it comes loaded with navigation system, back up camera and entertainment sysytem...Spare tire at the back adds beauty to the vehicle but can sometimes block rear vision esp when backing up.

This thing is a bottle rocket. it has almost too much power. you definitely need to get the 4wd or else there is a lot of torque steer. lots of cargo room. dont get the 3rd seat it too small to add any value. i love this car
