Purchased As New
I am into the 30th month of a 48 month lease and have been nothing less than impressed with this vehicle. I am seriously considering just buying out the remainder of the lease to own for good, as this car seems like it could drive on forever. Great handling and extremely smooth ride. I would say a little too pricey, but not by much, for what it is worth. If you want the prestige of a BMW or Mercedes and not the price tag or "stigma" of owning one of those - then this Swedish alternative is your answer....read morehide

Very capable solid vehicle. Turing circle major drawback and rear seatroom could be better. Reviews since at least 2004 complain about the wide turning circle so not sure why Volvo not do something about it.

Been driving my R for a year now, and I have not had any problems so far. Really good "rice-cooker" killer. They don't expect to be blown away by a Volvo next to them at a red light. Perfect comfort for two people household, this is not a family car, there are station wagons for that.

I 100% recomend that if you are interested in purchasing this car buy it! I looked at the S60 AWD, the Bmw 328 XI and the lexus is 250 AWD. The Volvo was by far the best choice. I test drove all of these cars and the Volvo was the best combination of proformance, comfort and safety. The BMW rattled when it hit bumps and the Lexus felt like a tin can. The S60 is a truly soild car and is in my opinion the best sedan in its class. I have had it for about 8 months now and nothing has gone wrong with the car. The steering in corners is great, and the DSTC (stability controll) can be turned off. NJ gets a lot of snow and ice and the DSTC is amazing at keeping the car in controll during winter weather. I love the S60 AWD go buy one!!...read morehide

My parents have one of these, and I am not impressed.
Exterior: It has a nice, coupelike form with a characteristic Volvo front end, but this is perhaps the only thing going for it.
Interior: Pretty well laid-out, and it looks decent at a glance. However, when you start to touch some of the materials and inspect them further, you see where Volvo cut corners. The interior constantly creaks and pops driving down the road and over every bump - the center console creaks if you rest your arm on the armrest. Space is in VERY short supply. Only someone about 4 feet tall will be comfortable in the back. The trunk is quite dinky. The S60 also lacks a lot of features you can find in everyday family sedans these days.
Driving: The steering is utterly and completely numb. It is very direct however, so you have no idea where you're going. Be careful or you will veer off the road. The car crashes and bounds over every bump, and makes thumps doing so - very uncomfortable. This seemingly stiff suspension does not translate to buttoned-down canyon carving abilities: the car leans over to its bump-stops taking corners briskly. Lots of wind and road noise make it into the cabin at higher speeds. The brakes are woefully mushy, leaving it very difficult to make smooth stops. The turbo 5-cylinder has enough go, but it does not make an inspiring sound when it does go (5-cylinders always moan). It has a massive turning radius (believe me, you won't make that U-turn). Fuel consumption is fair, expect about 20-22mpg in the city and close to 30mpg on a highway cruise.
Safety: Volvo's forte, or so they would have you believe. Ah, but the S60 didn't get the best pick status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. You might get a broken left leg in a frontal crash...
The S60 also suffers from horrendous depreciation (check Kelly Blue Book).
The end result: this is not a sport sedan. If you want a true sport sedan, don't half do it: buy a BMW 3-series, Audi A4, Mercedes C-Class, or Acura TSX or TL.
If you want a good, solid family car, buy an Accord or Camry. The Camry has a great ride, the Accord has a good ride with nice enthusiasts'-oriented handling; both have excellent interior room, plenty of toys, and more power (with V6s) than the S60. Best of all, they're cheaper....read morehide

the car is the best, but you have to buy the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07, or the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. i have tried out both of them and it makes a huge difference in the cars handling. with the body kit it is really cool looking, but in the winter, with snow tires, it is not fun to drive, i have to be very careful not to run over any snow that is 4 inches high or i run the risk of ripping off the front body kit part. but i drive the car as much as possible on the race track, it handles excellent and i out corner some high performance cars. just love my R!!...read morehide

I constantly have this car in the shop for flat tires, alignment. And wait until you try to trade it in and the dealer hears the norotrious "wheel rub"...poor design!
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER VOLVO AFTER OWNING THIS CAR. PLAY IT SAFE AND SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON THE BMW XI.

...for a 2007 S60R!
I love this car.
Great quality, ride, power, looks at a very reasonable price.
This car turns me on more than Mercedes, Porsches, Jaguars, Lotus, BMW's and Corvettes, I've owned, ever did.

This is a great car. If you are a very tall person and push the front seat back a lot, the space in the back seat is tight but this isn't a for me, 5'8". We have had this car for 11 months and have had only one problem, break lights sometimes don't go off (seems to be resolved now). The rear head rests flip out of the way when no one is sitting back there. For a powerful car, the gas mileage is very good. The front wheel drive is a real plus especially in snow and ice, good traction and no fishtailing as in real wheel drive cars. Finally, this is a very safe car. As they say, Volvo is for life........read morehide
