Excellent car for the price. Very nice looking. The climate controls are intuitive and function well. Great AC for hot climates. The suspension is great and resilient. Great handling for a big car. Roomy for legs and people who are tall. Back seats and trunk a little small/tight for this size sedan. No bluetooth, but It is MP3 ready. Nice MP3 cable interace you can buy from Radio Shack for $10. Great alternative to BMW 535....read morehide

I bought this car from the dealership, with 4,000 miles on it supposedly never previously owned, got a really good deal, and now I know why. In the first year of ownership, it was in the shop for the same thing about 8-10 times. The ABS system would either activate, and/or the light would come on alerting me that it needed attention. It's a running joke where I work because I'm always driving the courtesy car. I love this car, it feels luxurious, it is unassuming, it handles traffic like a pro, the dash is sleek and uncomplicated, but this one chronic problem really takes away from what would be an absolute winner....read morehide

I'm a sedan fan, and prefer the luxury versions. This is the best one I've ever owned. I get 18 combined, 31 mpg on the highway. The comfort level is thru the roof. Usually after 5 hours behind the wheel, my middle back is so stiff, I can barely walk. My first extended trip with this car, I didn't even notice. I get a lot of positive comments about the dash; Good job Volvo. Although, I'm the only one who can see the clock. The audio system should be used with caution. I get plenty of looks driving thru town when I'm thumping my farvorite tunes. They are probably not expecting a grey hair playing it at that volume. I was a little disappointed the V8 isn't available without the AWD, rarely (as in never) do I have issues with a FWD car that would be cured by having AWD. That's what the Jeep is for. I used to consider heated seats as a purely luxury option. From now on, they're a necessity. Ooooohhhhh, so warm. The only drawback I see (or feel), is the 6 speed with autostick. Come on, it has a 3.2 l engine. I've never believed in the autostick junk. First gear is so low, there's a reason it's called a granny gear. It's shifting out of first at 5 mph. What a waste....read morehide

I have owned many high line sedans and frequently regret my purchase within a couples of months. My S80 is soooo much more car than my more expensive previous Mercedes-Benz. I would have never, ever considered a Volvo had not it been for this recent styling change. My friends and family definately agree this was a substantial upgrade for me, though this car was thousands less. This car is great to drive around town and is an absolute dream on the interstate. I am finally a very happy owner of a very fine automobile....read morehide

Test drove this against the Audi A6 (too expensive), Acura RL (still Japanese), Toyota Avalon (not very attractive) and BMW 525i (too small). I loved the S80 from first sight. It's beautiful, attractive, elegant and so forth. It's better looking than most of its competitors and offers more bang for the buck, except for the avalon (but you can't compare). It's a German car in a Swedish dress. I have a few minor issues with it - room in the back seems a bit compromised (avalon won this by a landslide). It's a big car and doesn't seem like it - but they could have easily offered more room in the back seats. The 3.2 is a great smooth engine but it really could have used a bit more punch - the car is heavy which is felt when driving it but the steering is precise and smooth and adapts to your speed and driving style (I have the multiple suspenssion option). another thing that's weird for volvo is that the seatbelt light doesn't turn on when you're not wearing it. in japanese cars it keeps on nagging you until you wear it. honestly - i would not let any car out of park mode unless the driver is wearing a seatbelt. can't understand the european design of putting the gas tank door on the passenger side? but that's not just Volvo. what i love about it is that it's simple to use - there's no learning curve - controls are straight forwards - menu system is simple and engaging. built in blue tooth is missing - duh! i have the AC ventilated seats option (sports package) and even though the seats are perferated in the back they do nothing - i would have loved the same amenities for the back as the front. the 12V cigarette lighter is located in an odd place and so is the audio input. i like to use the manual driving options and shift gears by myself but if i have a bottle of diet coke or a coffee cup it's in the way of accessing the shift knob.
all in all - it's a well designed car - smooth, clean, i love it! it feels like a luxury sedan but it's still missing small refinements to make it perfect - i think it's a great hybrid between a japanese luxury sedan (easy to use and refined) and a german (quality of build, materials and performance). they had great deals on 2007's which i could not refuse and the leases on BMW and Audi were $200 a month more (which i could not understand).
so there u have it - a great swedish car that feels like a german without breaking the bank!...read morehide

I purchased my volvo s80 two months ago and it is the best luxury simplicity sedan made by volvo. I have always driven SUVs, but needed a change of scenery. By far, the best investment ever....

Great! Very value for money yet comfortable, the new S80 gives its customers run for their money. It is as safe as a house, and the turning radius has been shortened. Comfortable, refined and value for money.

Wow. Lotsa fun. I love having the choice of three suspension settings that you can change on the fly. The blind spot sensor is brilliant, picks up pedestrians in sidewalks. Heavier than earlier S80s but not an issue when you experience the performance.
