Pricey but overall, "good."

by popeye from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina USA (8/10/08)
Pros:comfortable seats, reliability
Cons:slow off the line, cornering, a bit too pricey

Good overall but I'd expect that for $50k.
The Cadillac CTS is a much better value at $37k.
But, at least it's not a *LEXUS!*
You buy one of those and you better have a tool box in the trunk and plenty of money in your checking account because you will be on a first name basis with your mechanic.
Overall a good ride, good power above 60 mph but poor from a dead stop, could use more low end torque (a v-8 engine?)
Good trunk space, comfortable cabin, nice styling.
Nice electronics pkg, nice stereo but again, is it really worth $50k?
It'd be a good value at $39k but not at $50k.

Terrific Car ---Beats Lexus, Infiniti and Germans

by Dan Dombal from Oxford CT (6/12/08)
Pros:Great GPS system, easy to use Blue Tooth very comfortable and sporty car to drive
Cons:none

I preiously owned a 2005 RL and had 80,000 miles on it with no problems of any kind---Just purchased a 2008 model what a GREAT CAR. Try comparing any other make with the same features and you will paying a lot more for the car ---the Acura dealer has been terriffic -- I am always treated as a valuable customer without overkill --Great job Acura

Stay away from the RL... it is not worth $100

by jcsgma from Irvine, CA (5/17/08)
Pros:The look and that's about it
Cons:Defects, Poor Quality Control, Noise from all over the car

I compared all the luxury sedans and thought RL was a good value. Well, I was wrong.

I bought RL Tech package and found problem from the 2nd day. It's been 6 weeks, and Acura/Honda corporate and dealership do not care. I initially noticed abnormal noises coming from at least 8 difference sources. On the 2rd day, I reported and dealer started fixing problems by ordering parts and tearing apart covers and seats. It has been the 5th time since I took this car back to the dealership and yet, mechanical problems continues to arise. Half of the time since I own this vehicle, the car is the dealership getting fixed.

Good to know they fixed some problem, and yet, the major ones they just wave their hands. The windshield does not sit tight and it is moving and hitting against the column holding it. This is a major manufacturing structural problem and it is taking weeks to fix.

Acura/Honda corporation does not care even though they managed to always say nice words and after weeks, you found no actions taken. Dealerships is probably making a lot of money from Acura, but even they are trying to maximize their profile keeping my car without giving me a loaner.

How funny to pay 50k for a RL tech only to find out that this car is a major defect and is going to be their engineering experiment to learn how to design car only at the owner's expense.

I am selling this car for a 10k lost after owning it for 6 weeks and the car has 500 miles now. (300 miles is to drive back and forth the dealership for repair).

This car is a total engineering disaster... stay away from it.

Great car for the money!

by Don P. from Phila. PA. (4/01/08)
Pros:Great ride, stereo, handling.
Cons:Needs more power off the line!

This is my third Acura, the RL is truely the best! I love the stereo, leather seats and of course the dash. The ride is very good, and the value is always there with Acura. The best thing about the RL is you do not have the expense of a German car, just the great ride....
I have the RL for one month, and I am sold.

nice car

by Henryk Nikicicz from Mission Texas (3/01/08)
Pros:comfortable,safe
Cons:slow acceleration, windshield wipers very noisy, navigation has no touch screen

It is a nice car.during acceleration it seems that the car strugles-like driving too long on 1st or 2nd gear.Good fuel on the highway 26 miles.
Windshield wipers very noisy makes bad impression-like in a cheap car.Navigation system has no touchscreen sometimes it is inconvinient.PAX tires-dont expect to get service-roadside assistance will tell you that you can drvie to a dealer.

Pros:Luxury model,perfect interior fit/styling,good mlg,good electronics/accessories,roomy.
Cons:Could use a few extra HP on this engine, should have the cool/heated seat control like the 09

Overall the 08 RL is a great car, should have the cool/heat seat controls on it like the 09,and new design 18 inch wheels as standard.

Pros:The best in its class
Cons:Nothing after two years

I compared its performance and value againts the I, L, B and M brands and the Acura RL came on top. Initially I was looking for the I brand but after test driving all of them I chose Acura.

Falling behind

by Kevin from Ocala, FL (11/21/07)
Pros:filled with technology, comfortable cruiser, good for twisty roads.
Cons:Needs a torquey V8, RWD should be standard, more interior space, fake wood glares at you in the sun

I am overall satisfied with the car, I actualy own a 2006 RL with the Tech pkg. It has soft leather seats, its smooth and quiet, and does just about everything right or an everyday cruiser. I don't like the Navigation system, but it is better than BMW, MB, Audi, ect. I live in a smaller city and many roads aren't shown. And it doesn't know all the short cuts either. For $56,000 (A-Spec, wood steering wheel, ect) I expected more space. Its adequate, but not exceptional. I did buy a Lexus LS460 but my wife drives that while I drive the Acura. The fake wood in the RL not only looks cheaper than the real thing, it is so bright in the sun that you can't help but be distracted. Acura needs a V8 with at least 350 bhp and 320 lbs torque. RWD should also be the standard drive, AWD should be opt. And it needs to do something other's haven't, panaramic sunroof, DVD, SOMETHING to stand out in the crowd! But overall, its a satisfying car to own.
