Purchased As New. Now, after 40,000+ miles, this remains the best car I've ever owned or driven. Ample power; I can't understand why anyone would opt for the W12 (except perhaps for the image). For such a large car, its handling is astonishingly good. It sold me on the brand, so I bought a new A4 for my son. With the Goodyear Turanza Serenity tires I just bought, this car is very quiet (except under hard acceleration, when you hear a satisfying growl as it lunges forward....read morehide

I used to drive a Mercedes Benz S500 and when looking for a new car I looked at Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Jaguar, and even Maserati. If i bought a car on looks and performance alone, the Maserati wins hands down. But I narrowed my choices to the Mercedes S63 AMG, the BMW 760Li, and the Audi A8L W12. The BMW's interior was too cold for a $130,000 car. The Mercedes and Audi are two very different cars, the Benz has an engine that screams for attention and charges when it accelerates. The Audi's 12 cylinder however was much quieter and felt effortless as it accelerated (slower the the Merc admittedly but much smoother). I see too many Mercedes these days and I've seen a few A8s but not many W12's. Its interior is warm and inviting and its an easy to live with everyday car. On the mountain roads it does a good job at hiding its mass and on the highway its the perfect companion for passing and comfortable cruising. The price was quite a shocker at around $140,000. But I got it for 130 which defintitely isn't what I call a bargain but I'm convinced its worth the money....read morehide

Needed a sedan for clients. The A8L had great and very roomy back seat. I do a lot of traveling on the highway and this car is a dream. Love the function of electronics. Small learning curve, but now that I know it, I'm very happy. Great value.

I have a 2005 A8L, the car has taken me a little to get used to after stepping up from an A6 Quattro. It's a large car, about the same length as my wife's Town and Country Minivan in length. I've grown to really use the front and rear parktronic sensors when parking, etc. The visibility out the back is somewhat limited, but you get used to it. I did what most people wouldn't, in that I took off the Factory 19" wheels and went down to 17" wheels with all season tires. It made a tremendous difference in the ride and quiteness of the car (but doesn't look as good). I have very few negatives. It runs like a dream. With the new tires it is an incredible snow car. It comes standard with Quattro, locking differentials, ESP, traction control, adjutable ride height for increased clearance. I've run circles around 4wd vehicles on snowy roads and you can't get much safer than this one. It's very fast, quiet and smooth which is a tough combo for speeding tickets. I like my portable Garmin GPS better than the factory system, but is OK when you get used to it and the overall MMI system does a nice job of integrating all the features. I get about 25 mpg on the road and 16 around town which isn't too bad considering the size and power. I could live without the slow closing power trunk, but All in All it's an unbelivable car for its purpose....read morehide

I have the sport package, the Enhanced interior, and Bang and Olfsen stereo (love it). I thought the ride would be harsh w/ the wheels and sport suspension, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was smooth, and quiet on most roads. It drives great and comes with many clever features. After spending in excess of $2,000,000.00 with Mercedes I switched to Jaguar. It's really a good car. When I wanted another Jag the large engine was not available in a longer sedan so I bought a BMW 750 LI and a 650I coupe for my wife. The 750 was not good and the dealer bought it back. I am so impressed with my Audi A8L that I have an S5 on order for my wife and will trade her BMW 650I with less than 5000 miles in on it. NO DOUBT THAT THE AUDI SURPASSES ANY OTHER VEHICLE ON THE ROAD! AUDI is where I am and where I will stay!!...read morehide

i would have to rate this as one of the best of the european luxury sedans. I have had much experience in the field and know a winner when i see one. I just wish they were more of a value in the long run.

I was looking at a 2007 model A8 but the dealer just happened to show me the 2008 edition. So we got it. I have the sport package, the Enhanced interior, and Bang and Olfsen stereo (love it). I thought the ride would be harsh w/ the wheels and sport suspension, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was smoothe, quiet and creamy on most roads. It drives like a much smaller car and comes with many clever features. I like it much more than my old S500 and I liked it better than an S550 i tested. Just for fun, I went over to Bentley and test drove the Arnage T and Flying Spur, amazingly, I like the Audi better than both of them! Now you can't beat the presence of a Bentley but the A8 gives a sinister look to people and definitely gets its own looks. I love it....read morehide

I have really loved my '06 A8L; worth every bit of the $82,000 optioned-up price. The '08 is even better. Smooth power, wonderful room, rich environment, I wouldn't trade it for any other car.
