Good Value, Great Find

by E. C. from Williamsburg, OH (10/07/08)
Pros:Fuel economy, performance, comfort, quiet, solid
Cons:Minor trim problem (driver door interior panel has loose upper retaining clip)

I never thought I would own a Buick. I always stereotyped it as a car for older people, but test drove it at the recommendation of a friend. I love this car ! I bought a leftover 2006 model (demo) with 8,000 mi on it about a year ago, for about half the price of MSRP. This CXS model has all the bells and whistles. Especially like the parking assist feature of the outside mirrors, it's so easy to park when you can see the curb. Great ride and precise handling. The Northstar V8 is smooth, quiet, economical, and has plenty of punch. City/hwy mileage approx 20/29. The hands off phone is a nice convenience. I get lots of looks and compliments. A lot of car for the money. Built on the same assembly line and just as luxurious as a Cadillac DTS, but for thousands of dollars less.

STR8 OUT OF DETROIT, DRIVE BEAUTIFUL

by Brian from Westborough, MA (7/16/08)
Pros:Comfort, classy looks, smooth ride, quiet
Cons:None

Owned the car for 3 weeks and had a honda accord previously for 9 years. Every time I drive it, I ask, "why didn't I do this sooner?" Got a great deal on it, loaded it is beautfiful. It is so quiet, so classy and comfortable. I loved my accord, but this is in a different class altogether. If your looking at the Lexus ES or Avalon, or 300, get the Lucerne. Plus there aren't as many out there. It has great pickup, decent gas mileage and is stylish. I love the air vents on the side. I'm in my 30's and I love hearing my 5 year old tell the world about his daddy's Buick. Test drive it before you knock it. It's a great car!

Outstanding Value

by Cass (3/08/08)
Pros:quiet ride, plenty of room inside for large person, great options, sharp design
Cons:needs to improve fuel economy, accelerator is touchy

Quality is no longer an issue with GM's vehicles. Options could not get any better. The technology on this car is amazing. Do not waste your money buying a more expensive brand. Plenty of room for a family of five.

Nice...but.....

by Jackie (12/04/07)
Pros:onstar, every bell and whistle (cooled seats...ahhhh)
Cons:terrible blind spot where front window separates from the door window. My gas mileage. GRRRR

I have a v-6. Why am I only getting 23 MPG??
I drive interstate miles every single day (80) with a short jaunt thru town to get to the onramp.
Im really ticked about my mileage, since that was the entire reason I bought the car. The window sticker said 27 mpg...

Love my Lucerne

by Sheila Knutson from Glendive, Mt (12/04/07)
Pros:Love the OnStar & telephone
Cons:Pillars between windshield & window block view while turning. Back seats need to be heated(leather)

I love my car. I have people of all ages stop to look. We have the shift on the column. There is plenty of room. Have had six in the car. Not all were small people. The ride is great. I have back problems & love the seats(both electric). I also love the airconditioned seats. The back seat is also comfortable for me. I am only 4'11'' & my feet actually touch the floor. Made a 1500 mile drive, 24 hrs, straight thru only stopping to gas. I opted for the Lucerne with the V8 instead of a chrysler 300c. Miss the extra power with the Hemi, but the Lucerne is much quieter. My mileage is usually 24-25 mpg. Have gotten up to 28mpg, depending on my lead foot.I had to laugh when I read the review about Gm not catering to people over 50. We are 45. My in-laws are 80. They love the car, but they also drive a 300M. We have friends who have Lucernes also & love the car.

The best Buick Sedan ever!

by Tom Pilaulson from Clinton, IA (11/26/07)
Pros:Good Fuel Economy, Great Ride, Lots of Room and Style
Cons:Can get pricey with all the toys.

I have read the review on the Lucerne here and must say I have had a 10X better experience with my Lucerne CXL V6. I ordered actually a crimson red CXL V6 with all the options even a navigation system. To replace my outgoing 2002 Acura TL. I test drove an Avalon but thought its awkward looks and poor quality took it right off the list. That left me with the all too common Impala and new Tarurs so I opted to try the Buick out. I was impressed to say the least to see how far GM has come. I didn't get another TL simply because it wasn't large enough in the rear for my growing family of 5. The ride and handling have impressed me. The old school 3800 Series III has plenty of power and has been giving me slightly over 30mpg on the highway not bad for a large sedan. The 3800 has lots of off the line tug and pulls really hard. My car does have a floor shifter I could bear to get such a cool car with a tree mounted shifter. All in all I have been very happy with my Crimson Red Lucerne CXL, and would urge anyone who is not looking at it because its a Buick to drop there bias!

Great ride and good price for a luxury ride.

by Bruce Foote from Dublin, Ohio (11/23/07)
Pros:Very smooth ride and very quiet. Like the bells and whistles.
Cons:V8 gets poor milage, dash board layout not as good as my 97 LaSabre, trunk open in glove box is bad

The dashboard and environmental display is hard to read. I like the door in the back seat to the trunk for long objects. 4 wheel disc brakes are great. Car handles well, turning radius could be tighter. The soft ride, comfortable seats and the quietness are the best features. I compared this car to the Cadilac DTS, very similar in ride so that makes the Lucerne a bargain in my eyes

You better you bet

by Jim Hiss from Waukegan, IL (11/12/07)
Pros:The ride is as good as any car
Cons:Turning radius; stereo could use improvement

I'm quite surprised that some people complain about lack of room. I'm a large person and I find the interior space more than adequate. At under $30k, this car is a good value.
