Great car would buy it again. Love it...

by Joshua Harris from Douglasville, Georgia (10/12/08)
Pros:Good overall gas mileage, smooth ride, nice interior great value...
Cons:Would have been nice to have the option of Navigation.

This is my wifes car and she loves it. Ours came as loaded as you can get without the Ltz package. Great car so far with 10k miles clocked and very impressed so far. I test drove everything from the Camry and Accord to G6 Pontiac. With a 252 horse power V-6 and the 6 spd auto the fuel mileage is about 28 highway, 18 city and 24 combined. Its getting better as it breaks in as well. You can have your cake and eat it too. Interior is nice with features such as built in sun shade in rear, 110 volt power plug, microsuede leather inserts on Lt2. Honda and Toyota may edge out on city mpg but give the edge to the Malibu on Hwy and on par with the avg mpg. Would be nice if they had the option of a factory navigation, and displacement on demand like the V-8's(honda V-6 has it as option). Love the car and have had a few people ask about it so it get you looks. The best compliament I can give is that I would have no problem buying it again.

Cannot go wrong with this Malibu

by greg from Southfield, MI (10/09/08)
Pros:Incredible value! Rock-solid handling and power, very good gas mileage, stylish looks
Cons:none

Glad that I bought American, but even happier that I bought the new Chevy Malibu. Tremendous value at $20K. Not a single issue after 12,000 miles...plenty of power with 4 cylinder and the good gas mileage to go with it, looks like something that costs twice as much. Plenty of room on the inside and tasteful interior. You will love the XM...an unexpected bonus that will change your attitude about satellite radio. The Onstar has helped me out with a lost key once already. Buy this car and do yourself a big favor! This is my first GM product, and I could not be more satisfied.

MALIBU - HANDS DOWN BEST CAR IN CLASS FOR ME

by Kevin M. from Nevada (9/06/08)
Pros:Wonderful car for th money - I love it!
Cons:Just like every car - More engine power and better fuel economy!

I did extensive internet research, took many trips to various car lots, test drove various cars, and found the 2008 Malibu had the best value for the money. Nice exterior design (many taken from the Corvette), nice interior, and I really like the OnStar, XM Radio, Remote Start (great for hot/cold climates). It is also a pretty fun car to drive and gets decent mileage (for it's weight). The weight translates into a nice feel when driving and the car is very quite (comparable to much more expensive luxury cars that I've driven). I give it 5 stars!

A luxury sedan for the rest of us!

by Jeff from Alexandria, VA (9/06/08)
Pros:Eye-catching interior design, convenient controls, very low road noise,
Cons:Head room in back seat is a bit tight for 6", could use additional storage compartments in cabin

Just purchased a 2008 LTZ "Spring" edition with the combination 4-cylinder/6-speed transmission, two-tone cocoa/cashmere interior, in red jeweltint color. What a beautiful car! I have noticed that everywhere I have driven this car, it gets stares from people on the street. I am new to GM products, but the included OnStar system has many desirable safety/security and convenience features.
I highly recommend this car, even in the less-expensive trims.

Forget Foreign made cars! CHEVYS ROCK!

by Gitzie from Burleson. Tx (8/31/08)
Pros:Good Fuel Economy, Very Stylish, LOVE Onstar!
Cons:I prefer to drive "trucks", but that is not the Malibu's fault. Great car!!!

I like my 2008 Malibu, but I traded in a 2007 Tahoe, and really miss the ride and room of the Tahoe! I wish the Tahoe got as many MPG as the Malibu, I would still have it. Too bad Americans have to pay so much in fuel prices, that many are now choosing the drive Japanese made cars, which really are NOT better than the great American made cars. In fact I just drove a rental car for a week, it was a Toyota Camry and my Malibu gets 3 miles per gallon more than the Camry and my Malibu has a MUCH smoother ride and is equipped much nicer than the Toyota was. I will NEVER own a foreign car because GM puts Much nicer cars on the road!

Another cheap, low quality, obviously American car

by Kaleb M. from Albuquerque, NM (8/27/08)
Pros:Decent fuel economy and many cupholders...
Cons:Everything else...!!!

Another GM flop! I rented several of these lately because National did not have any Japanese cars to give me.

This car drives like a brick, looks like a cross between an Opel (European GM brand) and a collection of ugly American cars. When will GM stop putting out generic and mediocre sedans? The Accord/Camry class can never be attained by an American auto maker. When the nearly unemployed folks in Michigan finally accept this, they can file for bankruptcy one last time and move to a different industry.

Cheap looking interior, low quality plastics, loose suspension, uncomfortable seats, inconsistent stepping and gapping and shotty brakes make this another typical (and expected) box-on-wheels to come out of Detroit. This vehicle should only be produced for rental fleets.

It is fairly pathetic to see that the Japanese have dominated the US after such a late start and more importantly, they have done it with vehicles that are infinitely improved copies of an American concept: the family sedan.

2008 Malibu LT2 Leads Class

by BillNole from Chicagoland, IL (8/20/08)
Pros:Fuel economy, ride quality, appearance, feature to dollar value.
Cons:Lack of Bluetooth integration into stereo. Somewhat sluggish acceleration with 4 cylinder engine.

First off, the Cons:

The lack of Bluetooth is nearly inexcuseable. It's obviously to get people to use On-Star's phone service with Verizon, which is ridiculous given that 90+% of all new car buyers will already have cell phone service contracts in place. Nearly every other automaker offers Bluetooth now. Get with the program GM...

I chose the 4 cylinder specifically for the mileage, so I'm very willing to live with the somewhat sluggish acceleration. I'm way beyond having to be the first to leave a light and the first to stop at the next one... Still, comparing it to other vehicles in it's class, this is the one area where this car compares less than favorably. However, I still gave it a three star for performance due to the great mileage for such a large car!

Now the Pros:

The Malibu leads this class with no exceptions! I researched the heck out of this purchase. I travel for work and I requested each vehicle I was considering numerous times while on the road. I've logged well over a thousand miles minimum in each of the Malibu, Camry, Accord, Sonata, Mazda 3 and numerous others in varying trim levels over the past 6 months. Again, the Malibu wins in every way except perhaps the race from traffic light to traffic light. A race I have no interest in participating in, given the current state of things in the world...

I've been asked repeatedly if the Malibu is a BMW, Audi or other higher end vehicles when visiting with various customers. These are generally people that know high end cars and are quite surprised to end up noticing a bow-tie attached to such a fine looking vehicle.

I absolutely love the Ultralux seats now, during the heat of the summer and can't wait to "toast my buns" with the seat warmers once winter sets in.

I wanted the upgraded stereo option, but accepted a vehicle without since it had everything else I wanted. I'm not disappointed in any way! Plenty of power, just enough thump and crystal clear sound at all volume levels! What more could I hope for? It more than suits my needs and I'm so happy to have the built-in XM radio and not have to deal with running wires and such any longer. The location of the aux. jack for connecting my MP3 player is so much better than that of some of the competition. Right in plain sight!

The sunroof is a little weird in that it slide back onto the outside of the roof when opened, instead of between the roof and headliner. Surely, this provided for more headroom, which is definitely a plus for those of us taller than the average import. I say weird, but it's a definite plus! Maybe I should have said different...

The rear power package sure is convenient for plugging in a DVD player for the kids when driving four hours to visit the Grandparents. Sure, we could still use a converter plugged into the cigarette lighter, but this is just convenient. No more searching for a misplaced converter!

The AC has worked fine even on 90 degree plus days and I have no doubt those previously mentioned seat warmers will help handle our occasional 20 below winter mornings.

The ride... Aaahhh! So smooth over railroad tracks, potholes and whatever else the summer construction season has presented but not "squishy" at all. Corners very flat and smooth with instant response to braking and steering input. Also as important as nearly anything else, it's sooo quiet!!! No other car anywhere near this price level even approaches the Malibu in this area. It's like driving with Bose QC II's on. Literally!

Simply best.

by Derek from Jackson, MI (8/10/08)
Pros:Comfortable, good looking, Onstar makes phone calls and directions cake.
Cons:None to speak of, im completely blown away.

I never thought Chevrolet could make such a great car. I was proven wrong. It's comfortable and good looking, I have no complaints. Rides well, I often get 37.8 mpg on the highway, (and with my driving, that's amazing). Onstar makes my life easy. XM is nice too. You see pictures of the malibu online, but it doesnt give you the whole picture. This car is outstanding, and it's interior lighting and craftsmenship remind me of a Caddilac. I can't express how proud I am to own this vehicle. Oh, and when the person in the Mercedes in front of me just can't stop looking back, well that's the icing on the cake.
