Overall, this is a great truck.
At 17.6 average fuel mileage after 27,000 miles, the Active Fuel Management system has not met expectations. But still, fuel economy is not terrible. I love this truck, my second Silverado. Only one problem: driver's side door-lock failed.
Engine performance is outstanding and hauling is easy. The seats are very comfortable, even the back bench. Radio controls are a little far away, but I love the XM package. Braking is good, but there's slight brake noise when coming to a stop. My old truck (2000 4wd) had 4 discs. This one has discs in the front and drums in the back.
I'm pretty sure this will be a keeper. Barring any accidents, I intend to keep this truck well after 200K miles....read morehide

always something going wrong, heater ball joints, trany problems, poor fuel miliage, very noisey off road poor trackion, burning out lights, paint peels on rocker panels, tie rod ends weak, own a 95 gmc and it's twice the truck this will ever be...................

A good large truck for the highways, easy steering, very comfortable to drive, I love it

Sometime I get smell of the engine inside cab, lots of wind noise over 100 mph .

I live in Qatar in the Middle East, where Toyota Land cruisers rule the roads, this truck plays no games along side them. It big, it has power. And so easy to drive a kid can do it.. Fuel Management system is a great feature, gets around 20mpg on the hwy, and it is not even broke-in

This is the best attempt in perfection GM has made yet. The truck rides like a dream, no road noise @ all speeds driven(under 100mph). The LS1 family engine is second to none, and is there when you need it.

Recently replaced torque converter after noticing leak while changing oil. Air leaks in cab during moderately windy days & higher speeds.

body integrity very poor, many creaks and groans

driving down mountain road with family in the vehicle, left front brake started smoking. dealer told me brakes were fine. transmission went out at 3500 miles. dealer said this was very unusual. big time rattle in left door. dealer has not fixed to date. i bought the Z71 4x4 because i thought it would be a really rugged vehicle. my mistake. i will be back at my ford dealer when the 09 f150s come out....read morehide

Was always a big fan of GM but 2 years ago went over to Ford. I'm back in a GM and thank God!!! Rides, performs and looks 100 times better than the other guys. A great value for the money could not do any better with any other truck. Drove Toyota, and Dodge neither came close as far as truck for dollar counted. Good job GM!!!!...read morehide
