Nah... it's a dream come true.

I bought an SLT '07 rental return after reading many negative reviews. The issues with this vehicle were early on and resolved. Most new launch models have bugs, but this one did have more than it's fair share.

Love all the computer gadgets and buttons on steering wheel. It does things I never thought possible. I especially LOVE the REAL power outlet in the 2nd row. Yeah, a 2 prong plug for things just like at the house.

The looks are stunning, the feel while driving is excellent. It rides better and gets better HWY mileage than the, at the time, newly launched Chevy Equinox we own. If you're going to do a lot of traffic commutes and in city driving, and you care about MPG...this is NOT for you.

Although, I'm against warranties, I bought one directly from Daimler Chrysler that hedges against future issues. With the money I saved it was more than worth the money for the peace of mind.

Bottom line... Do your research. Consumer Reports and JD Power report facts regarding the Nitro, but just remember these were early on issues. TEST DRIVE ONE YOURSELF. I think the "feel of the wheel will seal the deal". Bought this for my wife who was getting intimidated with big trucks and SUV's in her small convertible. Last thing I thought I wanted was an SUV, but this car has surpassed every expectation. I think Consumer Reports has its head where the sun doesn't shine. The appearance is awesome compared to bland other SUVs. Ours has all the options except 4WD and 4ltr/5speed auto. We did test drive one of those and the 4ltr/5spd is smoother, faster, more powerful, etc., but not that much so and an SUV isn't exactly a performance vehicle so went with one with the 3.7ltr/4speed auto because of better mileage. Getting 22MPG overall (18-19 city with AC on) which I am most happy with (big fear when she told me she wanted an SUV). The gadgets and convenience features are all super especially the MyGig, inverter, pull out cargo tray, remote start, sound system, etc., etc.
This vehicle is especially well designed and built. No problems or disappointments. Can't say I agree with the negative comments. There is a lot of plastic, but contemporary design (love the door handles inside and out) and snug fit plus leather make for a nice cabin.

Well First I bought my new 2008 Nitro in October 2007. I fell in love with the exterior. I bought the SLT with the 20 inch rims that they said were chrome...(lie). It still looks nice though. The space between the driver door and the seat is tight. Also the seat only lowers so mcuh and the stearing wheel only goes up a little so there is very little room for a taller persons legs. Then the rear view mirror is in the way when you are looking to the left/front to turn. Very annoying. Also 2 months after I bought it the radio went crazy insisting there was a cd in the radio when there wasn't I had to turn the car off for a minute and then when i turned it back on it was fine. Weird!!!!! But overall I have become to like it! I wish I would have looked into different vehicles though....read morehide

I absoluetly love me 2008 Dodge Nitro. It has gotten a lot of attention and people love to eye the car. Comfortable and room for all. Folding flat seats are a great feature.

Love my fully loaded Nitro...I also added polished stainless nerf bars, bull guard on the front end, chrome mirrors, chrome door handles and chrome rear tail light covers. I get compliments all the time on my Nitro.

Weak engine and weak gear box

I bought this car for it's looks and i gotta be honest i was deceived by it's tough appearance...it's nothing but weak and boring the car is really slaw Compared to other cars from the same range. The 3.7l nitro has a low offroad performance.
