I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 2 MONTHS AGO. I TRADED IN A CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER BECAUSE OF GAS MILEAGE. THIS LITTLE SUV IS THE BOMB. I LOVE DRIVING IT AND LOVE THE COLOR AND STYLE. IT IS ALSO SURPRISINGLY ROOMY INSIDE. THE ONLY SETBACK IS THAT THE SEATS STAIN EASILY AND YOU CAN'T JUST SPOT CLEAN THEM BECAUSE YOU WILL GET AN EVEN LARGER STAIN, ALSO WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY YOU GET ALOT OF ROADNOISE. I USED TO OWN A 2003 FORD ESCAPE BEFORE I GOT THE TRAILBLAZER AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE SEATS AND ROADNOISE. I GUESS THAT IS JUST HOW THESE CARS ARE AS FAR AS THE ROADNOISE IS CONCERNED....read morehide

Have had it about 1 1/2 yrs. and 19000 miles. Great fuel mileage. We have been on several road trips and averaged about 27 mpg.We take out the back seats and have room to take anything we want and can even sleep in the back! It has proven a great sport vehicle and we have had no trouble going anywhere we wanted. The Sirius radio system has been great. It has proven a really great traveling vehicle and drives wonderfully and comfortably. Only thing I have against it is it sometimes has a roar in it, but I am thinking it is more the Continental tires than anything else. Overall we have been well pleased with it and are glad we purchased it. We drove CRV, and several other competitors and this one was way above all the rest. Get one, you won't be disappointed....read morehide

I have had my escape since 2002 and never had it in the garage except for maintenace and brakes. I did have some recall items fixed. I have over 110,000 miles and still going strong. Will buy a new Escape. The front wheel drive is great and the 4x4 is there if I need.

It looks great and is just the right size. You get an SUV but it's compact and great on gas, what more could you ask for! When we first got it we came from a larger SUV which I guess handled more smoothly because it took me just a little bit to get used to this, felt a little rough and jerky. But now I barely notice it and love it! The only thing I have a problem with are the seats stain with just a drop of rain water or sweat off a cup. Leaves big ugly white spots. Invest in leather seats or you will regret it. Just google "Escape seat stains" to see all the complaints. Ford pretends the problem doesn't exist. Other than I have had it going on 2 years and I couldn't be happier....read morehide

I have been driving my escape for almost a year now. It's at 12K now.
This is my first -an probably the last- SUV.
Very disappointed to see the engine gets covered with oil after each oil change. A brand new car should not be doing this. I don't know if anyone else has experienced the same problem. The only thing I like about this car is it's fuel efficiency and decent cargo space.
There is nothing special about the service you get at Ford. Even the Firestone guys seem more involved and helpful when you go for an oil change....read morehide

The brakes don't respond quick enough. They also makes noises when damp outside. Seats are stained from the rain. Spilled a little water once. Can't get the stain out. When cold, the transmission sometimes doesn't shift properly into second. When it does shift, theres a strong jerk, kick. When I turn the steering wheel in a parked position to pull out as an example, I hear a chirping noise. The gear shift when putting in reverse or drive (automatic) is very rough. A strong jerk. The ride is chopy on uneven roads. Vehicle tends to lean too much when making sharp turns. I brought the car several times to dealer, and they say nothing is wrong with all of the above. it only has 3,000 miles....read morehide

The SUV is great as far as mileage is concerned. Has plenty of power ,I-4 for me. Sirus radio is wonderful, a lot of choices for listening pleasure.Love the auto-dimming rear view mirror, perfect for the person or idiot who doesn't want to dim his lights. Recomended this car too a friend who is considering too look at one....read morehide

I have an 08 XLT V6 with 16,900 miles. It runs great and rides very well. I traded a truck to get better mileage. The escape is well worth it!

Got the Escape two months ago and couldn't be happier. Traded in a large SUV and am getting twice the gas mileage. People who are putting this SUV down, probably complain about everthing. It is a delight to drive. Goes to show Ford can make a vechicle as good as any mass producer.
