I have a 1999 Expedition Eddie w/140K miles on it with no major problems and it seems Ford carried the tradition on in their 2008 model. Very comfortable, lots of room kids & dogs! Most importantly if you live in a snowy climate, you'll never worry about driving again. Superior traction control and great handling. The ride is smooth and solid, inside cab noise has been much improved and alot of nice extras on the Eddie. Didn't get the nav system, but having all other controls on the steering wheel is a nice plus when focusing in inclemate weather....read morehide

Replaced a 2003 Expy with this 2008 flavor. Wrangled between a Tahoe and the Expy for awhile before finally choosing the Expy based on the power folding 3rd row, a feature I loved in my old Expy. I haven't been disappointed. Ordered it in Jan, picked it up in Mar, and I only have about 8,000 miles on it so far but it has performed beautifully.
I'd suggest moving the rear-view camera from the r/v mirror to the GPS screen like the Tahoe. It is cool on the r/v (especially when it appears & disappears) but it's almost too small to be useful. It was a valiant effort probably based on the assumption that people would be looking in the r/v mirror anyway when backing up so that would be a great place to put it. However, the screen size matters more in my opinion.
Also, please give me back the old center compartment. The new one looks the same on the outside but the inside seems to be half the size of the old one. The compartment has also been shifted back in some fashion such that it's much harder to use without fighting the lid with your arm and elbow.
Finally, stop making me acknowledge the GPS warning screen every time I select the GPS function - probably a law or safety regulation but what a pain in the neck.
Minor flaws. The truck is great. It's vastly improved from my last version and I'm glad I bought it....read morehide

This is our third Expedition since 2003 and by far the 08 model is superior in comfort, performance and style.

I love my new Ford Expedition EL Eddie Bauer. We have five kids and we are able to ride in much more comfort in the Expedition then we could in our Town & Country minivan. The truck handles great in the snow (I drove home from the hospital in a snowstorm in low 4x4 mode and the truck was superb). The rearview camera is intuitive and I can't imagine backing this large truck up without one. We looked at the GM, Toyota and Nissan competitors, and they couldn't compare on a quality/price basis. We bought our Expedition for about $40k and no competitor comes close.
Steering is impressive and solid. Acceleration is responsive. The only downside is gas mileage - we don't do well (but most of our driving is on local streets)....read morehide

Bought this one and now will probably pass it on to the wife now that I hear that a diesel will be coming out with in two years. Should have the same power with much better torque and fuel economy. If 8,000 lb F250s can get nearly 20MPG, I would think that the expedition with a smaller engine could get 25MPG. With two expeditons I'll never have buy another vehicle again. Ford pays much more attention to the smaller details than anyone else. These things will last you forever if you wanted them to....read morehide

I traded a Jeep Commander for the expedition, not that
I did not like the Commander, I just preferred the room.
Gas milage was a litle better than the Jeep- it had the 5.7 Hemi- had better pick up, but is lighter vehicle.
This is my fourth Expedition and hope to have a few more.
