Purchased As New
I purchased a brand new 2008 Ford Focus. A few months later I was involved in a collision. The air bags AND the seatbelts failed to work!!!! The two most important things had manufacturer defects. If you also bought this same vehicle.. I would suggest taking it in and having it tested. You'd hate to be involved in a serious collision only to find out the hard way that your seatbelts didn't lock and your air bags didn't deploy. And good luck getting Ford to take responsibility for their defective vehicle that they sell you. Here's an exact quote of what the Ford manufacturer told me... "I'm sorry that you were in a bad accident and that your seatbelts and airbags didn't work, but I can't hep you." Thats the service you get. They only care to take responsibility for their defects if you are killed. I highly suggest you do NOT purchase this vehicle. If the two most important things (seatbelts and airbags) are defective.. think of everything else that can be wrong. They at least need to do a recall. This same defect could be in many many of the new Focuses but no one will know until they crash....read morehide

This is a cheap car that rides like a cheap car.
Buuuuuut....I got what I paid for and more.
Very good gas mileage. Very fun to drive.
Folding back seat gives trunk hatchback-like
cargo capacity. Very versatile car.
I drive my Focus hard and for the most part
it holds up well.
I would definately buy another Focus....read morehide

Got the Focus S Sedan for 4.5K less than comparable cars like Corolla, Civic, Sentra. It holds its own when it comes to power, handling and fuel economy.
Following minor inconveniences noticed and has u wondering whether Ford designers have no common sense
-No trunk release lever and w/ the S trim, there is no remote control. So have to use the keys to open the trunk.
-Interior light is located in front as opposed to the middle. If u need lights in the rear, need to use a torch....read morehide

I believe that Ford is on the right track with this car. I had a VW Jetta previously and this car has way more leg room in the back seat. Two more Focus cars purchased in our family since I got mine. We test drove Corollas(3K more for basic model than Focus), Nissan Versas and the Saturn Astra. Road trip mileage was as high as 43mpg highway and combined with around town I average 34mpg....read morehide

I thought this would a favorite when I was shopping for a car. I was totally mistaken! The trims and appearance are a great upgrade from the previous models, but seriously that's all this car has going for it. The model I tried was the 5 speed MT - warning - if you love driving stick shifts this is not the car for you! The clutch was way too soft - the salesman explained it was hydraulic clutch and supposed to assist with the drive - it sure didn't assist me in any way. When coming to a hard stop the brakes shuddered and clattered - so that was a big thumbs down. Also, the interior cabin was noisy as ever. If you love the idea of syncing and great mpgs (great mpgs come in other cars too- maybe not for the same price) - this just may be your car. For me - a big let down!...read morehide

I owned a Focus and that piece of junk was falling apart from the very moment I drove it off the lot. Substandard materials and poor workmanship is what this car is all about.
They can change the body style, they can even ad SYNC it does not change thew fact that poor quality is what you paid for in the Ford Focus. Google FORD FOCUS PROBLEMS and you will find that car is a waste of money.
I traded mine in for a 2008 NISSAN SENTRA. I will never own another Frod product again....read morehide

I love this car! My first Focus. My first Ford product in 18 years! I've been driving Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep products, but I have to say that after test driving Ford and Mercury products, I found that the Ford Mercury vehicles are a step ahead of the competition! Fit and finish, quality and feel surpass C,D, and J products and GM products with ease! I leased my Focus, and a few months later, I leased a Mercury Milan for my wife. I can't say enough about this Focus and Milan. They really are nice cars! When the lease comes due on the Focus, I'll buy it and give it to my daughter for her first car. I am really impressed with the safety features on board, enough so that I trust it for my daughters first car. My only, and I mean only gripe with the Focus Coupe is that the interior door handles are very awkward. If it is a windy day, be careful when you open the door from the inside. It happened to me, I opened the door while getting out of the vehicle, and the wind caught the door, not being able to grab the door handle (it is too far forward on the door panel), the door sprung forward and actually sprung the hinges. Unfortunately, I now have to go to the bodyshop to have them adjusted. Thankfully it didn't happen in one of those tight parking spaces. PLEASE Ford, come up with a better interior handle on the coupe models! You are going to have a lot of complaints on this, I'm sure. Other than that, buy or lease this car! You will be pleased!...read morehide

We just got this car it will be our family car since we have a big f150supercrew for when we go dirtbike riding and needed something for those in city trips. I have 400 plus miles on it and its an awesome car. I didnt want all the bells and whistles on this since im a lil effy on the electrical stuff on ford cars so the manual windows and locks seemed a lil better since those cant really go out on me like the power window in our F150 did and cost 300 bucks to fix! When i drive it around i get ppl looking at the car out here in california not many out on the road yet i actually havent seen one except mine so far. My son loves the back seat thank goodness for those side airbags and child saftey locks on the doors. I cant fit 2 carseats in the back but that means not reclining the seats in the front all the way back which is what my hubby has a prob with since hes 6ft tall . the car is perfect for me im only 5'4". Super roomy trunk a lot roomier than the 02 civic i used to have. I def recommend this car to anyone who wants to buy something diff from the usual civic and corolla car look alikes out there. Best car we have had for under 11 grand with auto transmission w overdrive and satellite radio....read morehide
