Purchased As Used
Bought ours used with 7000 miles. Now have 20K and still very happy overall......except...........ANNOYING interior squeaks and creaks...addressed repeatedly by dealer but not improved. Handles very well under severe winter road conditions. VERY disappointed in the
SEL high end? aluminum wheels....they are etched and pitted already.
Look 10 years old and abused though I clean them regularily. Concerned about retaining its value. Paid 20K~ now see this model going for $13K !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! already. We are driving '07 SEL 6cyl AWD and wish I had waited to purchase the 2010. Did I mention I have owned 3 accords and loved their reliability, quality and RESALE but....can't see paying 40% more and not have AWD....read morehide

Purchased As New
I had owned several brands before. 5 months ago I decided to change a Toyota Avensis (English made) and saw all the different options that I could afford. The Fusion 2.3 SE was well equipped and had a very nice appearance in the outside, although the inside is poor and somewhat cheap. The fact is that I was looking for a reliable car, but the one I got, came out as dissapointment. The rails where the driver seat settle, are completely rusted, but it is going the be fixed. Then since I bought the car, threre is a strange boiling noise coming from the engine, they have changed already some things, but the problem is still there, they said it has to do with the coolant system, but have not been able to fix it. Then the dashboard is all noisy as if it were and old car. All these things will be taken care and covered by the guarantee, but I wish these things were not happening in a new car. The old car I sold had 30,000 miles and it never gave me any problem. Rear visibility in the Fusion is almost non existent, so I suggest you consider getting a rear parking system. Fuel consumption is very poor, never more than 20 miles a galon, even though I am a considerate driver. The guarantee that Ford is offering in my country (Guatemala) is very good, and I realize they are willing to fix all the things the car has, but I thought that Ford was going to be a better car. Those buying a new car, should always look and evaluate Japanese possibilities, as according to my experience, they have been extremely efficiente and reliable....read morehide

I traded an 06 Mustang GT for the 4cyl Fusion when gas hit $4 a gallon. I miss the pure performance of the Mustang but generally like everything about the Fusion. The build quality is comparable to the Honda's I have owned, the interior is done quite nicely and the driving experience is outstanding. The Fusion is a good alternative to the Accord and Camry and costs less. I recommend the Fusion to anyone looking for a great mid-size family sedan....read morehide

Although we are leasing these for our company, I had to write this review for those of you who are looking to purchase a car in this class. Most of the other reviews will pretty well sum it up, YOU WILL SAVE money and headaches by buying foreign. I NEVER thought I would say that, but in this class of car, Fusion is simply no good.
The ride is noisy. The cabin has more creeks and clanks than an old wooden ship. The power is terrible. Interior is sub par and I just would not recoomend this vehicle at all. The Fusion I drive (Black on black, 2008 SEL AWD) has only 12,000 miles on it and I just discovered some kind of leak from the engine the last few days.

This car really handles well, really surprized me. Get the six if you can afford the extra gas. Big difference in performance over the I4. The V6 and the sports package make this a pretty cool car.

Love this car. Tons of compliments on the looks - I have the Sport Appearance Packager with the red leather seating. It looks awesome! SYNC is amazing, I love not missing calls and being able to talk while I'm driving and not feel distracted!! Surprisingly the low profile 18" tires do wonderful in the snow. I have not had a problem at all, and living in WI, I know there are a lot of cars that have recently put snow tires on and I thought I was going to be one of them. Not this year!!!...read morehide

I got this car as a trade in from an Ford Escape lease. I was over on my miles and needed to trade it in early. A Fusion was all I could afford at the time. I don't like is the snow/ice handling. We've had TWO snow storms since I've been driving the car and already I wish I would not have leased it. You slide everytime you stop and spin everytime you start. I miss my Escape.
Another bad point is the car insurance. My insurance went up $30 a MONTH from my Escape to the Fusion. The salesman was all big on me saving tons of money on the gas mileage. What I save on gas I'm giving to the insurance company!...read morehide

Overall, I am more than pleased with my 2009 four cylinder SE Sports Appearance model: it handles well, hugs the road nicely and looks great with 18-inch aluminum performance tires and leather interior. However, considering how much I paid for the Sport Appearance and Moon and Tune package combined (approx. $1500), I should have bought a V6 and skipped on the Sports Appearance option because a four cylinder engine doesn't really provide the pick-up and engine power that's needed for a car of this size (weight). Hence, if you're thinking of buying a Fusion and don't want to spend more than $24K, spend that money wisely and opt for the V6 engine instead of the Sports Appearance model; even if it costs a bit more, it's worth it.
Aside from this, I really like my Fusion. The body has nice, sharp lines, the interior is very room for the price, leather with distinctive stitching provides an additional unique characteristic, and it really drives very comfortably and quietly (I live and commute in the NJ/NYC metro area and hardly feel the pot holes, which is an absolute blessing).
In addition, the Fusion provides so many more features and comfort than my last vehicle - a 2001 VW Jetta. I dedided to buy a Fusion because I wanted to support the American auto industry and because after the nightmare of having to shell out at least $400 every time my old Jetta required the least amount of work or the most seemingly inconsequential piece of plastic or another, I finally realized that for my budget, it simply didn't make any sense to buy an "economy" European car that required a BMW/Mercedes budget to afford the inevitable car repairs. My mechanic, whom I visited all too frequently while I owned the Jetta, told me that to save money on repairs, I should buy an American car because the parts are cheaper since they are mostly manufactured in the US, so I did. So while my Fusion is still knew, I expect to save money on the inevitable repairs. If you're buying and in the market for a car around Fusion's price tag, this should definitely be a consideration - supposedly even cheaper than Toyota and Honda to repair....read morehide
