I bought as a demo wth 5k miles on it; I now have 16k and it is an awesome vehicle! I had a Cadillac SRX before and was worried I wouldn't like the ride of the Acadia but it is very smooth! Much more spacious than the Caddy too. I have two large dogs and I was having a hard time finding an SUV where the 3rd row seat would fold down flat enough so there is no opportunity for them to get a foot caught between the 2nd and 3rd row. This was the ONLY SUV with a dog friendly cargo area and my pups love it as much as I do!! As far as gas mileage, I am averaging 16-17 mph in the city....read morehide

Among the many SUVs and CUVs that I checked or test drove, GMC Acadia was my number one choice. I love the exterior and interior design. It is loaded with bunch of gadgets. My kids were happy browsing their photos from the digital cam on the DVD screen. Excellent storage and cargo space larger than Yukon, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Nissan Armada, Toyota Land cruiser, and Hyundai Traverse. It can fit eight adults comfortably. Unlike other SUVs and CUVs, sitting on the third row you do not feel your legs are raised so high. Access to the third row is easy.
Pros: The other day I washed it and to my astonishment I was very much disappointed by the amount of cheap plastic this vehicle has. I also hate the quality of the floor mats. The seat leather is not as expected in a car that cost this much....read morehide

We are very pleased with this vehicle and after 6 months with it, have no problems to report. For reference, we mostly drive it around town with our kids, but we have taken several long road trips with it. We get ~18 mpg in mixed highway/local driving and ~20 mpg on the highway.
We considered the AWD, because we live in an area with winter snows, but on the advice of our salesman, opted for FWD. The FWD seems sure-footed enough (we cautiously drove it through a severe ice-storm, without incident).
The third row seat folds down very easily, and allows us to carry lots of stuff without difficulty. They also pop-up easily, too. We have the second row bucket seats (currently fitted with car seats). Due to the car seats, we can't use the slide forward feature on the second row seats, so we just use the center aisle to get back to the third row. Seems to work.
I've hauled quite a bit of stuff in this vehicle, and it seems to work fine. Today, with the third row seats folded down, I used it to haul twelve large bags of mulch - no problem. When considering this vehicle, I wondered whether I could fit a 4' x 8' sheet in it, with the second and third row seats folded flat. I can report that it is barely possible, but I do not recommend it. You must move the front seats all the way forward, put the sheets in at an angle (resting on the front seat headrests), and stagger the sheets to get the liftgate to close. And still, you'll scratch the interior plastic in the front, and lodge splinters in the hanging seatbelt straps. So, this vehicle is roomy, but it's interior is still not a truck bed. Learn from my trial and error.
Our vehicle seems to have numerous advanced features, which I am still learning - while you can get it and just drive it, there are all kinds of settings and controls for someone willing to pour over the owner's manual and spend the time learning it. (Ex: setting the shiftpoints, using the lock control features when exiting, etc.) What I've learned so far doesn't seem difficult, but it's not intuitive....read morehide

Love the Acadia. Just wish the mileage was a little better. Drives like a high priced luxury car!

I have an 07 Acadia with FWD. I didn't think I would need the AWD since I have had many cars without 4wd/AWD and have not had problems in the winter. But, this car is horrible in the snow and even on damp roads from the rain. When I am at a stop light in the winter small cars are getting better traction than I am, passing me by a long shot and I do not have a lead foot! I can't believe that a vehicle this big would have such a hard time getting going in the snow and damp roads. I love the way the vehicle looks, but would definately not get another one of these....read morehide

We purchased the Acadia fully loaded in August of '08 and now have almost 4,000 miles on it. We get an average of 17 mpg which is dissapointing considering that a good percentage of the driving is highway. However mpg has improved since we've had it. The quality of the intererior could be better - especially for a vehicle that has an MSRP over $45,000. Glove box on dash doesn't open like it should and there is no light in the larger glove box. The driver seat automatic setting controls on the drivers door panel seem to be an afterthought - a hole cut out of the panel exposes the three buttons...
The biggest complaint I have is the constant shifting of the transmission. When the vehicle is moving around 20 mph and you want to accelerate (slowly) you really have to press the gas peddle which unfortunately makes the car shift into a really low gear as if you are passing someone. Probably one of the issues affecting the mpg problem.
Overall we like the styling and fit/finish so far although I might be hearing some rattles - but it may also be the child seat. It does have lots of room and has a good amount of accessories....read morehide

I have had my car for almost a year and I'm trying to sell it already. When test driving a FWD do it in the rain and snow. This car is terrible in the snow for the size of it. You would think the front end would be heavy enough to gain some good traction with a FWD. I don't have a lead foot and the wheels spin on damp ground. My driveway has a slight incline and I cannot get out of my driveway when there's a light dusting of snow. I also have the same problem as other post. When parking car on incline car tends not to start. They said it was a crack in my battery block or something like that. I have had my car in the shop at least 5 times for numerous things. Can't stand the constant and early downshifts. Shifts way too early and too often. Does not have a good passing gear, has long hesitation before kicking in.
My previous car was an Acura MDX. If I had to do over again I would buy another MDX. sorry...read morehide

This truck is just over a year old and has been in the garage 5 times with numerous recalls. With low fuel and parked on a incline the fuel pick-up will not allow the truck to start. GMs mileage ratings are not even close to actual. No more GM for me.

The number 1 proublem is the gas milage. 14.5 around town I dont have a heavy foot. and the GMC service people says this may very with different drivers. the middle row seat do not recline very much, may be 3 inches. which does not help when a child falls asleep,or an adult. the middle seat is not easy to move forward to give the third row room for their feet. I do have a rattle in the dash....read morehide
