I traded in my 06 canyon on this truck. I paid 2000 less for it then my canyon! I only got the 4.8L, but it pulls my dad's 36' camper with no problem. I test drove many trucks, including F150's, Ram 1500's and tundra's, but still ended up back at GMC. It was the best one I drove, and also the cheapest. Good ride, roomy interior, reliable mechanicals, good mpg from 5.3L

no decent truck bed attachments & rails

Can achieve 20 plus mpg highway non-tow. empty bed.
mixed driving seen 17-18 and winter mix of highway and city at 15-16

Some small v6 cars only in the low 20s what models really are the gas guzzlers.

Decent mileage, plentyof power, quiet and comforatble ride.

No Homelink

This is a fantastic truck. The ride is comvoftable, quiet and smooth. GMC fixed almost everything that irritates me about our 2006. The cruise control is on the steering wheel where it belongs and the coffee cup holder is up off the floor.

Overall we've been getting just over 17 MPG combined freeway and town driving with just over 5000 miles on it. Mileage increases dramatically if you keep it under 70MPH which is tough.

The only annoyance is that you can't get homelink (built in garage door openers) without getting a sunroof and bucket seats which reduces seating capacity to five. This seems like a really arbitrary limitation and when garage door opener batteries barely last a month during winter, Homelink is far more useful than Onstar....read morehide

I just bought this truck. I have just a little over 1000 miles and a rock went throught the grill and cost me over $600 dollars for a new radiator. With this ease of damage, there should be a recall and more protection put in. Not covered by warrantee.

As you can imagine, I am not happy with the truck. Very poor design....read morehide

Fuel management is nice, being able to see how much gpm you use helps me keep my foot off the pedal.

I got this thing fully loaded. Everything they sell I put on it and I planned on only driving it to work once a week. Now I cant get out of it. I drive it everywhere. Nice interior, ok sound system(bose). I put a lift on it and went to bigger tires and everyone looks as i go by. The truck of my dreams. My truck is the All Terrain model, and fairly loaded (no Nav or sunroof). The ride is stiff (like a truck) but smooth - the way I like it. Thelooks are nery nice out of the box. I really like some of the features, but must important, the overall truck. It is great after a couple of seconds but take off is a little sluggish (6.0 engine). I sold an 04 Sierra and moved to the 08. The difference is significant. I really like the way the back seats are done with no support underneath - makes storing items much easier! I have about 300 miles on my new truck and absolutely love it. I looked at all of the big truck manufacturers but kept going back to the Chevy or GMC. All of the trucks were great but the GMC had all around more appeal for me and here by make is what I found...

Nissan- interior not as nice, faster but hey its a truck not a sports car
Toyota- looked and handled well but coundn't get over the front end-looks are subjective from person to person but I thinnk it;s ugly
Ford- exterior a little more plain not as good ride quality-much more body lean in corners
Dodge-love the look-hate the ride and gas mileage horrible even with cylinder shut-off
Chevy- basically the same but GMC a little more quiet cab and dealer willing to give me more for my 03 Wrangler

The interior of the All Terrain package is phenomenol. My wife picked it because of the interior where as I was looking for a bench seat and to keep the price down but end the end she was right. The only thing added was 18"wheels and a little more aggresive tire. Will be getting a Rhino liner and bed rails but this truck is beautiful and with a few more miles can't wait to see what it does off-road....read morehide
