Over all, great reliable car for the money. Rotor warped after 18k - this seems some what common issue with this car. I could easily live with this car for another couple of years if seats were little more supportive & were better quality. I would have gladly paid extra $500 for better upgraded seats! I may upgrade the seats or to VW for that reason in the near future....read morehide

I have a had the 2008 Honda Fit Sport 5-speed Manual Transmission for about a year and a half, and I absolutely love it!! I got it because my pick-up truck died and I wanted a relatively inexpensive car with good MPG and cargo space, it delivers in both areas. For a "sub-compact" car it has great cargo space, more than would appear from the outside. I like to describe the interior as cavernous(I was saying that before I saw the billboard).
MPG it is better than expected, I average 34-35 MPG(mostly city) with an all time low of 31MPG and a high of 39MPG
The biggest negative for me is engine power since I was used to driving a pick-up truck. The small engine doesn't deliver a much power, this is most noticeable in the automatic. I got the manual transmission mainly so I can control the acceleration better on the highway.
The car rides well for it being as small and light as it is, but you feel the bumps on small rural roads. There is a noticeable amount of road noise if the radio is off, but since I'm always listening the the radio this isn't an issue for me.
I am 6-1 and there is plenty of room for me in the driver seat, but it gets a little cramped in the back seat. I usually have to move up my seat when there are people in the back.
The a/c blows ice cold (important since I live in TX), the heat gets pretty hot. The radio sounds good for a stock radio.
Overall the Fit is a great car, I am very glad I own one. I have suggested it to many of my friends. If you want a car that gets good gas mileage without paying for a hybrid and has lots of cargo space than this is the car for you. And it's a Honda so you know it will keep it's value....read morehide

We have owned the Fit for about 1.5 years and it has been a great car. It is my wife's car which replaced a Toyota 4 Runner. I am still amazed how much storage capacity this little car has for a subcompact. With all the seating and storage options you can fit some ridiculous sized things in this car.
Driving is equally impressive. Handling / steering are both great and this car has more pep than one would think for a 115 hp 4 cylinder engine. Seating capacity and comfort are above average. There is plenty of head room and leg room to seat four adults comfortably. I am over 6 feet tall, 225 lbs. and have no problem getting comfortable. Longer trips can get a little uncomfortable due to no armrest or telescoping steering wheel and only minor seat adjustments.
Fuel economy is incredible. We drove the car from Philly to Key West and back averaging 38 mpg over the 3000 mile trip. I commuted back and forth to Philly from the suburbs for about 6 months in mixed hwy/city driving and never averaged less than 33 mpg. I would highly recommend the Fit. I am a huge fan of Honda's products having owned a CRX, Civic, several Accords, and now a TL. This car is a great example of what Honda does best...build simple, affordable, reliable, and fun to drive cars....read morehide

First off, I wanted to say we got the AUTOMATIC SPORT version of the Fit. My husband and I bought our car in North Carolina and about eight months later, we were driving it to Colorado. We LOVE our car, but it has minor things we wish we could make it better. We would like arm rests, its a tad annoying not to have it, and makes the arm thats not by the door feel ackward. It held our stuff with room to spare, including a large cage where our cats were. Wish it had a gauge to show how hot the car was instead of a light. I noticed that the 'stripes' were only stickers, and we took those off. It wasn't a bad deal for us, and we're military. My husband had high hopes for the car, and so far, "Bonnie" has yet to disappoint us. She's survived a blizzard out here, and has kept us safe thus far. So my complaints are minor, but its a great car overall, and I love it! My brother in law loves it too, he's actually a bit jealous of our car! :)...read morehide

This is a great little car. And the estimated mpg advertised is actually less than I get (one road trip averaged 39 mpg). It is roomy inside and has a huge cargo area for its size. The finish seems to scratch a little more easily than my last car (a Tercel), but overall it is easy to maintain with a bit of care....read morehide

I have the Base 5sp manual and love it. It is fun to drive, comfortable for me (6', 270#) and has a lot of space for stowing gear. It is comfortable for such a small car, quite peppey, has a good transmission and a very tractable engine. I am getting 35 - 39 MPG per tankful on around town and highway driving mixed....read morehide

* * * * * * *Pros:
I love this car and the ability to customize it w/ JDM parts. I installed the MUGEN POWER ventilated visors and door sills, HOP coin holder and ASIMO plush doll, CarMate F-Sports convex rear view mirror, RAZO pedals and lighting, and JDM license plate. I have plans to install the JDM overhead console, passenger visor w/ vanity mirror, blue interior lights, and sidemarkers.
I also installed the factory all-season floor mats, cargo tray, cargo cover, cargo net, 13% tint on all windows except the windshield, and swapped out all lug nuts w/ wheel locks. No performance upgrades, though, as this is a daily driver and I don't want to mess w/ perfection. GPS and some nice accessories to dress it up a bit.
I love the oil life feature that tells you the % of useful oil remaining. No need to change the oil every 3000 miles or 3 months anymore. You can almost double that. I didn't get my 1st oil change until 4 months later w/ 20% oil life @ 5777 miles and I did it early because I was going on a road trip. Speaking of which, I've driven the 4 - 5 hours from North Las Vegas to San Diego 3 times on 1 tank each way w/o stopping. That's 333+ miles non-stop w/ 3 passengers and luggage! I usually stop @ the 1/2 way point in Barstow, but no need, unless to use the restroom. Cruise control all the way! Now only if there was automatic pilot to do the steering.
The radio is great. It has a nice display, big knob and buttons, CD player that reads MP3 and WMA, and an AUX input to connect anything that uses a standard size jack. The unusual shape makes it so you're not tempted to install an aftermarket head unit because it's not a standard DIN. All you could do to upgrade the system is add more powerful speakers, but the stocks are fine. 200 watts, baby!
Eventhough the FiT was introduced in 2001, it didn't hit North America until 2006 for the 2007 model year, making it very unique . That makes the 1st generation FiT a rare find in the U.S. You can't help but wave to a fellow FiT owner, because not everyone and their momma has it. Like my 1995 Civic coupe, because it's an Ex-A. ABS w/ discs all around. Top that!
* * * * * * *Cons:
There's no dead pedal to rest your left foot. This is easily fixed through the aftermarket. Not so easily fixed is the compatability of Japanese and European parts to the U.S./Canadian model. In my quest to have JDM parts, I ordered the JDM coin holder, armrest, and trunk box. Not the cargo tray that sits on the floor, but the box that fits under the cargo cover. The coin holder just snaps in and the armrest took about 1/2 hour, but the trunk box is another story. I suspect it doesn't fit due to the relocation of the gas door. If you look @ pics of the overseas FiT/jazz, you'll see that the gas door is located on the crease. The North American model has the gas door located above the crease. Why the change, I don't know, but it must've changed the interior body panels in the rear because my JDM part doesn't fit right.
The brakes work great. ABS is quick and responsive w/ discs up front and drums out back. I would've prefered discs all around, but only for a more sporty appearance. I might upgrade through the aftermarket when it's time to get a brake job. Why waste money now?
The small gas tank is not much of a negative, because if it were bigger there would be more weight added to the car and fill ups would cost more. The 10.8 gallon tank makes it easy to estimate your mileage because you can get a rough MPG by dividing mileage on the trip meter by 10. I divide by 10.8 to get the true MPG. My gas light usually lights up after 260 - 275 miles. Even then, I don't need to get gas for another 60+ miles, but I fill up before I hit 300 miles, just in case. Now that gas prices are dropping, I fill up on less than $20. I haven't done that since college. Like the tagline says, "The FiT is Go!"...read morehide

Performance is overall above average for a car this size. It sure is easy to manuever in heavy commute traffic and for parking. Its turning radius is superb.
The backseat is roomy compared to some of the larger compact sedans. If the head rests are removed the rear seat as well as the front seats fold down to make a spacious bed should you need to camp out in or sleep in if your spouse kicks you out for the night.
Hatchback and reat seats fold down makes it convenient to haul oversized items that normally would not be able to fit in a standard size trunk or be jammed into the rear passenger seats.
I take this little car fishing and camping and can easily save $ on ground travel....read morehide
