Built to Leak? Serious water leaks new 2008 Pilot

by Rainman from VA (9/18/08)
Pros:Safety, visibility, head-room, drive-train
Cons:Serious rainwater leakage inside doorsills/carpet w/pooling 30 hr, braking distance, thigh support

My new 2008 Honda Pilot Ex-L leaks inside four doorsills with every heavy rain and every car wash. Serious manufacturing flaw allows water leakage along door seals into/under the inside doorsills up onto carpet. Water stands for up to 30 hrs until all doors are opened and the rubberized foot guards are pounded and mopped. American Honda stated that such water leaks are "normal" and that the "2008 Pilot was re-designed to siphon rainwater inside inner doorsills" to correct more serious leakage problems with 2006-7 models. No repair possible. Water test before you buy.

I am glad i chose the Pilot instead of 4-runner

by LLL from nj (9/12/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy for its size. It has decent pickup and handling. Overall i just love it.
Cons:None

i have my only a month and i love it so far. My kids have fun with it. The price is much lower than i anticipated maybe i visited the dealer at the right time (during laborday clearing). i got it below invoice price for 2009 model. the standard model has much more features than i anticipated. overall from the value, performance, and comfort standpoints i rate this Pilot 'excellent'. one thing i would change of this SUV is to make its look little softer; it looks kind of tough. the look right now is more like a truck than crossover.

Excellent 8 seater SUV

by Kenneth Ko from Dubai, UAE (8/02/08)
Pros:Good fuel economy for V6. 10 airbags. Nice Leather Seats
Cons:OEM tyres not grippy enough. Looks dated.

Excellent ride overaall. Have this for 2 mths+ and based in Dubai. Good pickup when needed and very steady and comfortable when crusing on the highway. Rock solid Honda reliability and smoothness of the V6 Vtec engine and the 5 speeder autobox is extremely smooth. Excellent value for money with cruise control, 10 airbags, moonroof, full beige leather seats, 8 seater configuration. For this price I pay for the 08 Pilot here, I can only get the entry Toyota Prado Landcruiser, which I think is grossly overpriced. Pilot also drives alot like a car, which makes driving a joy.

BUY THIS CAR

by Justin from Walnut Creek, Ca (7/10/08)
Pros:Great Looks, Great Fit for Taller People, Awesome ride

The Pilot is a hand down winner. We have the MDX in the family the only thing missing on the pilot is the tiptronic. It has more head room and leg room in the third row than the MDX. Wish we got the 17" tires but this little beast rides like a dream. Maybe the only thing I might change is going from XM to Sirus radio. Great value and more bang for you buck.

Can't cheap out

by Mainer from Maine (7/08/08)
Pros:solid, safe, good looking, great in snow
Cons:uses a lot of gas

I just had to chime in, I have a 2006 Pilot and I have a 2003 prior to this one. It is an expensive car to pay for and to gas up. It uses gas like a 8 cylinder and we make less trips to town to save, monthly payments are high, $550 a month. I have considered trading it in for a Fit but I won't. Because, regardless of what it costs, it is a solid, solid, solid and safe car. Top crash ratings, surefooted in the snow and we live in Maine. Basically, my wife and 2 kids must have a car to get around in. I dont want them in a tin can. The Pilot gives you peace of mind.

Pros:It is vey Comfortable, Great navigation system,a Great TV Has 8 seats it is awesome.
Cons:Very Bad milage you have to go to the gas station every week.

The Pilot is a BIG SUV it has a great Navigation System. It is really good for a big family.Drives smooth on the road.Has a good look on the road and it can beat the Toyota Highlander . The Pilot is just like a Acura MDX but it is bigger.

Poorly made SUV

by Victor from Edmonton, AB (6/13/08)
Pros:Roomy, Stable on road
Cons:Poorly built fittings and trims

Very disappointed with this SUV. After a string of reliable Hondas for many years, I bought the pilot and had a string of problems. Firstly the hood shakes terribly in the wind. Took it about 4 to 5 times into dealership and is better but still in storng wind, it feels like the hood will fly open. Secondly, The sound system suddenly goes on and off all by itself. The dealer had to finally change the CD changer. Thirdly, the doors refuse to close in very cold weather. I had to hold the door to drive into the dealer. Fourthly, The trims in the roof rack just flew away in the wind. Fifthly, Some of the trims on the doors are peeling off. Way too much trouble and inconvinient to take it multiple times to the dealership. There is a lag when throttling suddenly and is a gas guzzler. The only positive thing I can think of is that it is roomy and very stable in poor, snowy, slippery conditions. Otherwise, a junk of an SUV.
