Great value = 1 satisfied customer

by Mark Witthoft from Lockport, Illinois (6/24/08)
Pros:Looks, fit and finish, quiet cabin, engine etc.
Cons:Legroom for the drivers side is less than desired...

I sold my car, and had this one already negotiated back in Sept. I test drove it, and bought it on the spot, 45 mins and outta there. The price was also shockingly good $18,800 out the door. Overall it is an outstanding value for the money, however at 6'0" the front seal leg room is a inch or two shy, forcing me to bend my knees slightly. Not a huge deal, and certainly something that I can deal with for all of the other good features that the Sonata has as standard features. This is my third Hyundai, and I must say that this V6 is a must have for really impressive accelleration. Hyundai could corner the market in this catagory if they were able to make a few minor changes such as a lower final drive ratio, and a six speed tranny which would likely up the mileage to 24 city and 34 highway. My current average is 21 - 22 city and have not had it on the highway long enough to get an accurate measure. Have not had it to the dealer at all, so dealer service after the sale I cannot comment on.

Great Hyundai Sonata Limited

by Rick from Columbus, OH (4/29/08)
Pros:Rides and drives like Mercedes' used to.
Cons:Side mirrors don't fold in...that's the only 'con' I can think of.

Had my 4cyl Sonata Limited for about a month now and this just may be the finest car I've ever owned. The quality of workmanship is evident throughout, the ride is quiet, responsive and whisper-smooth. Even my wife is thrilled with this car (and she's VERY nit-picky). This is our first Hyundai, but now we may never buy anything else.

The leather, heated seats are extremely comfortable. Very, very pleased overall. Got excellent deal too with all the rebates in March on the '08s.

Honda fan--- Not impressed.

by Bill N. from ATL Home of the Braves (4/17/08)
Pros:The looks are clean and simple. Materials on same level as my old Honda Accord. Good front seats
Cons:Unacceptable reliability and dealer service. Problems with warranty coverage. Poor gas mileage.

In Novemeber of 2007 we traded in our leased 2005 Honda Accord. It was a decent car but it was nothing more than an appliance so we wanted something more engaging.
-Our first choice after doing tons of research and reading all the praise from magazines and after test driving one was the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. Absolutely fantastic car. The only problem was no local dealerships had any that we wanted in the color combinations/features we wanted as they were already sold out and we needed a car ASAP. We went back to the Honda dealer but they were extremely rude. Right across the street was a Hyundai dealership so we walked there, and were greated by a sales person who was very friendly and knowledgeable. After a test drive we felt the car was ok- not exactly what we liked the best or wanted but good enough to get from point A to B. Amazingly we talked them down $5k plus they threw in free car washes and oil changes and the warranty seemed super. We couldn't resist. Out the door limited V6 with everything for $19,370. Amazing.
-Now after 5 months we find some secrets they don't tell you. First the warranty is a double edge sword. It does cover the engine and transmission for 100k miles but they are very reluctant to fix anything. Oil changes cost normally $35 or so... not when you need something fixed. They try to charge you for all sorts of other things that you need. An oil change costs $200 or more because they say its for the warranty. That is unacceptable. Talking to other owners in the waiting room we found they also felt ripped off. Also the warranty does NOT TRANSFER to another owner and you have to go by their service plan if you want to keep the warranty. considering most cars these days go well over 150k miles with no problems to the engine, this warranty is useless.
-The EPA ratings of 19/28 mpg are a joke. We average about ~15 mpg with a mix of highway and city. On the highway the best we have seen was 20 mpg.
-Our salesperson Alex who was very friendly and willling to help when we first got the car was rude and obnoxious when we had some minor concerns a few months later. His manager who was probably fresh out of highschool, was no better. For example, the front brakes. They would make a loud noise when braking and started to wobble. The service manager told us we needed new brake rotors with only k miles and they wanted to charge us $1100 to do the service! Absolutely not! Then they threatened us by saying our warranty would be voided if we did not agree! This brake problem is the reason I am writing this review. I hope others can know the truth about Hyundai. They are scam artists.
-There are some good points about this car though. The materials are as good as our Honda Accord. The drive is better than the Acoord and interior is larger. The trunk is also large. The front seats are excellent for me. I am 6'2" 340 lbs and I fit comfortably. Leg room is good. The engine is mostly quiet unitl you push it and then it gets rough. The tranmission also has a mind of its own and sometimes its rough. Overall I think this car will hold up for 3-4 years but then its time to sell. I does not seem to be a keeper. Sorry but that is just my opinion. I'm a diehard Honda man with a Honda CR-V for my wife and that Accord but for me Hyundai does not cut it and never met my expectations. What I found impressive was the new Malibu and hope to get one soon.

Best Kept Secret!!

by CC from Sonoma, CA (4/13/08)
Pros:Comfortable Ride, Quick handling, and great sound
Cons:None

Great car!! Very quiet. I barely knew I started the car. It handles turns well and gives a nice punch when you need it. Infinity Surround speakers w/sub sounded great with the XM. Makes running errands fun. Plenty of trunk space. Fit two golf bags easy. Seats 5. Biggest Pro, American made! (Montgomery, Alabama). Highly recommend buying.

A great ride and great looks for the money

by Bill Hillman from Rock Hill, South Carolina (4/12/08)
Pros:I lovd this car. Trade Nissan Max. Great mileage, fabulous ride and its fully loaded
Cons:None

Totally surprised by the ride, comfort and handling. I'm 6'5" and have plenty of room. It was thousands less than Honda Accord or Toyota Camary with the same equipment. The dealership also gets 5-stars. Our other car is an Infiniti G35 and I can easily compare this car to that one. The G35 has leather and a few extras, but I paid out the nose for the difference and I enjoy the Sonata just as much. This is a great car for the money and after a ton of research, I don't think I could've done better with any car.

Superior vehicle

by Mike from Salem, Oregon (4/01/08)
Pros:Drives like a larger luxury sedan, lots of comfort and power
Cons:no cons so far

We just bought one of these and were extremely satisfied with all features of the vehicle. It handles like a dream, has power when needed, and is very comfortable. Fit and finish is excellent. Good gas mileage too.

Wer would recommend the Sonata over others including Toyota, Honda, Acura and even Lexus. Which we checked out prior to making a purchase.

Five star safety, style and value for the money. Do yourself a favor and buy one.
