Purchased As New
I bought my car in November of 2007. I have always wanted a Sonata when I had my Elantra. Smart decision! The car has a great ride and has great speed for a non-sports car. I have been reading through these reviews and some crack me up. The seat belt sound is annoying? Follow the law; Buckle your seatbelt, problem solved. My seatbelt sound doesnât go off as soon as the car starts. It takes about 2 to 3 mins of driving before it does. I was surprised the mirrors didnât fold in because my 2005 Elantra's did so I would think a 2008 Sonata's would. Not a huge problem to worry about. A con for drivers around me is my headlights are really bright. I get high beamed all the time. I love this car and love Hyundai. I am happy they are finally making a name for themselves. My next Hyundai after this one dies, the Genesis hands down! Enjoy the car!...read morehide

This is the best value in full sized automobiles in the market. High quality vehicle (above Toyota, Honda, GM).
Best (longest) warranty

I just bought a little used 08 Sonata, 10000 miles for 14000 dollars. GLS V6 ofcourse, to start off the review, i never thought i would ever buy a Hyundai. but while i was test driving cars including Saab 2.5T, Altima 3.5, Maxima, Accord 3.0, RSX, and plenty others, i also test drove this one and this car REALLY surprised me. I was about to buy an 06 altima 3.5 se, yes which is a more powerful car, but everything else is better with this car. The warranty tops it out. This car is very comfortable and also plenty fast for nomal driving. Previous reviews didnt say anything bad happening to them. I mean i think this car is already upto par with camrys and hondas in build quality yet so cheap. I was leaning towards the altima, but it was about to be 3 years old with 30000 miles and was more expensive than the Sonata. plus the warranty was expired so I have to buy my own warranty, and with Sonata, i don't because it provides 10 years, 100000 miles warranty, and 5 years 50000 factory warranty. All those car manufacturers are claiming to make reliable cars including Toyota and Honda, yet they are not offering such warranty. Anybody looking for a used car, Hyundai is the name of the game I say.
Anyways; While driving the Sonata in the first week, I noticed that the RPM was idling at 1000 which is a little too high. so I went ahead and bought a K&N airfilter part # 33-2346, which brought the rpm down to 700 which is where it should be. the car is breathing easily now, the fuel economy is much better, and brings like 4 horsepowers to the car. so i recommend a K&N Airfilter for this car, its 45 dollars and lasts forever cause you can clean it and reuse it and oil change people won't come to you and say "oh look at that ugly dirty airfilter, you wanna change that" cause they know how good K&N airfilters are.
The other thing i noticed that i parked the car, went to the theater, came out after 2 and half hours, turn on the car and the car was throwing warm air from the vents, i mean not a whole lot of cars do that. A very nice featuer for people living in the cold sides of the country.
one more thing i noticed is that while cruising the rpm is set at 2000 and you are doing 60 mph, and you can go to 70 or 80 by lightly pressing the gas and the rpm needle won't even move, how nice is that. that shows that this car knows how to save gas somehow.
I think i have luckily bought a very nice family sedan with plenty of power. Really I used to have a real low opinion about the Hyundais, but this car has changed that. I think it was a very practical decision. This car is offering everything, warranty, reliabililty, power, the sound system, convinience, comfort and a very very nice overall build quality for a very cheap price. I also have an 02 BMW 525i which i bought in 05 with 36000 miles for 30000 dollars, and the Hyundai Sonata is much quiter and faster and comfortable than it. ofcourse BMW provides something else of a ride but I'd rather smile with the money in my pocket....read morehide

Dealership is very easy to work with and customer service is A plus. That was why we began looking at the Hundai for our daughter. We have had it for 8 months and are very pleased.

I have 10k on an 08 Sonata Se 4cyl 5spd. I do 90% of my driving highway and dont get near the fuel economy that the sticker says. Local deal has been good and put the car on the rack and check it out. No supprise everything came back good. This car is larger than its class competion and it's fun to drive. Does not do well in snow and slick conditions. Overall the car does what it was intended to do and I enjoy driving it. Wish it had an MP3 player hookup....read morehide

This car has a major design flaw by the rear doors dog leg, the sand from the road sand blasts the area where they have placed plastic protectors! This makes the whole car look bad! Also, front design lets too much road debris hit it, causing several chips in paint, also, should have better or more coats of paint or clear coat! More color choices for outside and interior! Fuel economy not great! Have the V-6 GLS, not enough features, good air bags, brakes, but no daytime running lights,no delay lights, fog lights are extra, Xm should be a year not 3 months! No GLS insignia!...read morehide

Less power and yippee factor than I was used to (previously having a Mustang GT w/260 hp), but still OK, and much better mileage (25 mpg around town/32 freeway). Cruises comfortably and quietly at 85 mph. Fit and finish seems good. No problems in the 13K/9 months I have had the car.
Downside: I paid too much ($16,500), and if I had waited for a 2009 I would have gotten more power and better mileage....read morehide

Took a 850 mile drive to Wisconsin with 4 adults and a full trunk. All of us were very impressed with comfort of ride. 4 cyl had no problem pulling us and going up mountainous areas of highway.

I have an 07 for 17months. I read the list of the standard features for 20K was a drawing card. I saw stability and traction control and ABS on the list it was chance that a poor man with a family dreams about. Along with the warranty Hyundai has a good hand.
