I got a kia sportage as a rental while my car was repaired from an accident. After driving it for 5 days and 500 miles, I drove it to a Kia dealership and told them I wanted one just like it. I haven't purchased a new car in 25 years! I am very happy with it and have a daily commute right at 100 miles per day....read morehide

This little SUV is just what my husband and I were looking for. We have one child, unsure of a second, and wanted to buy something larger just to be on the safe side. We test drove some Fords, a couple of Jeeps, a couple of Dodges, and the Sportage. By FAR, the Sportage was the clear winner for us. The Dodges had absolutely no get-up-&-go, the Jeeps were loud and not smooth at all, and the Fords weren't all that spacious and they were laid out strange. The Sportage has more than enough power to get around town and handles just like an SUV should. It also has better gas mileage than I would have predicted.
There is a rather large blind spot that makes me nervous when I need to change lanes on the highways and interstates. I've had the car for awhile now and still haven't been able to find the comfy-zone in the driver's seat. It seems like I change some sort of position everytime I drive it.
Overall, however, I do not regret purchasing this vehicle. I am in love with it and know that I will be for probably quite some time. I look forward for a really good snowstorm to see how it does. I feel very safe while driving and have very little to actually complain about. I would highly recommend it!...read morehide

Not a real smooth ride but despite being a small SUV you sit up high making driving in traffic much less stressful. The V6 has plenty of power even with the heavier 4WD. The 4WD, ESC, and ABS make it great for snowy New England.
I've got heated leather, a tow hitch (no need to put my bicycle on the roof), side rails (makes it easy to brush the snow off the roof), a windshield deicer that actually works, and almost every other toy so I'm ready for anything. The cargo net is essential to keep stuff from rolling around but comes with the luxury package.
It has some blind spots but is still easy to park.
I'm only getting 16 / 19 MPG but I got it for $6,000 less than I would have paid for a similar Outlander so I figure my gas for the first 42,000 miles (17.5 MPG @ $2.50/gal.) is free.
The warranty is only matched by it's cousin the Hyundai and by Mistsubishi. My friend has a 3 year old Sportage and has only paid $12 in repairs so I have great expectations (I've had mine 5 weeks).
I looked around for months and concluded that nothing else matched the value of the Sportage....read morehide

even though it's my first suv, it make me feel driving sedan not
suv. compare with rav4 or crv it has more roomy.
smooth riding both town and hwy, best warrenty among selling cars in
us. i drove over 14,000 miles with 2007 sportage, so far have not got
any trouble at all. really satisfied with this. it's really recommandable
for anyone who want to buy small suv. in my opinion it is much
worth to buy than rav4 or crv in procewise value.
need keyless entry and auto head light to be a basic for
around 20k dollars car....read morehide

Seems easy to serice, but replacing timing belt may be expensive as well as access to fuel filter, as it is the gas tank. Like where they put the spare, is out of the way. fuse panel is very easy to get to, do not have to stand on your head like in other cars etc.

I always had a sprty car or big muscle truck and do not miss them at all. This rides smooth like a car with alot of the advantages of a truck or SUV. The seats go down so the storage room is incredable!!!

I LOVE THIS VEHICLE, I STILL CANT BELIVE WHAT A BARGAIN IT WAS. IT WAS SEVERAL THOUSAND LESS THEN A CRV, ESCAPE OR RAV-4. MY SISTER BOUGHT A CRV A FEW MONTHS BEFORE I BOUGHT MY SPORTAGE AND SHE PAID $5000 MORE AND SHE DOESNT EVEN HAVE SOME OF THE FEATURES THAT I HAVE. SHE HAS BEEN IN FOR WARANTEE REPAIRS 5 TIMES IN 30000 MILES, I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY WARANTEE REPAIRS DONE AND I AM AT 32000 MILES. SHE IS VERY DISAPOINTED IN HER PURCHASE, SHE IS TRADING IT IN ON THE REFRESHED 09 SPORTAGE. AS A 5TH TIME KIA OWNER I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPOINTED IN ANY OF THEM. THEY ARE VERY UNDERATED AND THEY DESERVE MUCH MORE THEN WHAT THEY GET....read morehide

We've had our Kia Sportage for a month now and love it more now than when we got it! Just got back from a 1000 mile trip in it. Had great gas mileage (Avg of 31mpg!!).
