Purchased As New
I got a kia sportage as a rental while my car was repaired from an accident. After driving it for 5 days and 500 miles, I drove it to a Kia dealership and told them I wanted one just like it. I haven't purchased a new car in 25 years! I am very happy with it and have a daily commute right at 100 miles per day....read morehide

Purchased As New
This little SUV is just what my husband and I were looking for. We have one child, unsure of a second, and wanted to buy something larger just to be on the safe side. We test drove some Fords, a couple of Jeeps, a couple of Dodges, and the Sportage. By FAR, the Sportage was the clear winner for us. The Dodges had absolutely no get-up-&-go, the Jeeps were loud and not smooth at all, and the Fords weren't all that spacious and they were laid out strange. The Sportage has more than enough power to get around town and handles just like an SUV should. It also has better gas mileage than I would have predicted.
There is a rather large blind spot that makes me nervous when I need to change lanes on the highways and interstates. I've had the car for awhile now and still haven't been able to find the comfy-zone in the driver's seat. It seems like I change some sort of position everytime I drive it.
Overall, however, I do not regret purchasing this vehicle. I am in love with it and know that I will be for probably quite some time. I look forward for a really good snowstorm to see how it does. I feel very safe while driving and have very little to actually complain about. I would highly recommend it!...read morehide

Seems easy to serice, but replacing timing belt may be expensive as well as access to fuel filter, as it is the gas tank. Like where they put the spare, is out of the way. fuse panel is very easy to get to, do not have to stand on your head like in other cars etc.

I LOVE THIS VEHICLE, I STILL CANT BELIVE WHAT A BARGAIN IT WAS. IT WAS SEVERAL THOUSAND LESS THEN A CRV, ESCAPE OR RAV-4. MY SISTER BOUGHT A CRV A FEW MONTHS BEFORE I BOUGHT MY SPORTAGE AND SHE PAID $5000 MORE AND SHE DOESNT EVEN HAVE SOME OF THE FEATURES THAT I HAVE. SHE HAS BEEN IN FOR WARANTEE REPAIRS 5 TIMES IN 30000 MILES, I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY WARANTEE REPAIRS DONE AND I AM AT 32000 MILES. SHE IS VERY DISAPOINTED IN HER PURCHASE, SHE IS TRADING IT IN ON THE REFRESHED 09 SPORTAGE. AS A 5TH TIME KIA OWNER I HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPOINTED IN ANY OF THEM. THEY ARE VERY UNDERATED AND THEY DESERVE MUCH MORE THEN WHAT THEY GET....read morehide

We've had our Kia Sportage for a month now and love it more now than when we got it! Just got back from a 1000 mile trip in it. Had great gas mileage (Avg of 31mpg!!).

I love my car! My three sons were picking at me for buying a Kia but they all agree, I got a good deal. I laugh at my middle son whining about the cost of filling up his Dodge Ram 1500 4-door ("that's a real truck, Mom") and having to fill up once a week. Here I am in my little "girly car" filling up twice a month (three times if I take a long road trip). So nope, I'm not sorry I bought this "girly car" at all. I only had one problem with it so far, and after a couple of trips to the dealership, it was discovered that when I stepped on the brake it was turning on my ESC and causing it to stick. Once they fixed that, I haven't had any other problems. I take my Kia to yard sales, have helped friends move and stored groceries and still have room for two of us to ride comfortably. I am hooked......read morehide

I have 6500 miles on my A/T Sportage. Best mileage is 28 HWY. That could be better with the 5 speed manual I think. 2500 RPM @ 60 MPH seems a bit much. A 5 speed A/T would be nice. Terrific A/C knocks out the Tennessee summer heat! Very comfortable ride on long trips. A little noisy but not bad, this is an SUV. Lots of room with the seats down and I like the lift glass door for groceries. Everything is in easy reach control wise. An MP3 CD player as standard equipment would be nice but the basic stereo is the best mobile unit I have ever owned. Nimble steering, good brakes and enough getup and go for any sane person with the 2.0L 4 cyl.
Many of my friends own KIA products and they are all satisfied customers just like me.
I looked at Elements but the Sportage ran $5000 less with the same features.
Next: A RIO5 or perhaps a Spectra5....read morehide

I bought this car and I do not regret it. Some of my friends say, "But is it a Kia!", I say, "you can pay $400-$600 in car payments and I will keep my carpayment of $280 while I have fun, go out, and enjoy life." They work to pay their car.
This car takes me everywhere, looks great, saves me money, and carries everything. I have a great warranty and my friends, the smart ones, love the car.
If I was to buy another car I would go back to Kia. They are improving fast. It is no longer that cheap falling apart car when they first came out. Anyhow all car makers had a horrible reputation when they first came out... Remember Toyota and Honda??? We all thought they wouldn't make it!!!...read morehide
