Purchased As New
I really like the way it rides. Its roomy, seats 7 comfortably. Wish that the gas mileage was alot better. I'm getting 13 mpg in the city.

I owned many different SUV's including high end models. It comes off kind of pompous listing the makes and models, so let's just say that I've driven them all.
I was pleasantly suprised when I test drove the Mazda CX9 with the quality of workmanship and the handling. After test driving several other makes, I made the choice to buy the CX9. After two months and 2000 miles driving (including snow) I know that I couldn't have made a better choice. The Mazda CX9 has gotten great reviews because it is a terrific car and the dealer is first class....read morehide

I am a HUGE auto critic, and I am SPEECHLESS about this car ... Just got a 2008 Grand Touring FWD, and I think this car is amzing INSIDE AND OUT!!! If this car LASTS as good as it looks, I am one happy camper! DO NOT even begin to compare this car with Honda or Toyota ... This is right up there with the BIG names, if not better than some of them!!!!! Many people talk about the MPG on this car, but what do you expect from an almost 5,000 lb. vehicle?!?!? Having a touch of Performance in a solid 7-passenger SUV is going to cost us a few few miles per gallon, but please DO NOT let this change your decision as this car has SO MANY pluses that the MPG issue becomes trivial!!!! :)...read morehide

I was in a collision (head on leftside to leftside), going 74MPH, this vehicle took the impact unbelievably, I shot across 2 lanes of traffic an embankment and a frontage road, front tire blew out and this vehicle never even acted like it wanted to rollover. I am sold on this vehicle. It rides and handles wonderfully.
Only issue I've ever had was some noise in the brakes and it was a factory recall....read morehide

I have a few thousand miles on my CX-9, I truly believe Mazda has done such an excellent job, I really am not sure there are words to explain the value they offer in their automobiles.
I have owned many excellent cars including a brand new 2002 series BMW in 1974 when I was in college. That car was so far and away ahead of its time then, it really could not be fully understood.
I believe Mazda has created a market and a following of its own, if properly presented and handled they have clearly out done, Nissan, and Mitsubishi and possibly several others,. Nissan is still trying to design a CX-7, and the way some auto makers have reacted with their copys of the CX-9 is unreal; Hyandia, Nissan, Toyota included.
I have owned Mazdas since 1992, I have had no major problems of any kind, NONE.....That includes owning 13 of them, from 626s to Tributes, to CX-7s and a CX-9.
My father was an engineer, my brother is an engineer and pilot, and I understand machineryi as well as anyone.
Ford needs to understand what they have in Mazda, I do not think they have ever admitted it, they are so arrogant. I like and apppreciate Ford Motor Co., however, I believe without Volvo and Mazda, they would be in a very different posture....read morehide

I love my car. It rides like a dream and is much roomier than everything I considered. It has nearly 3000 miles on it and I picked it up in early March. The only negative is the fuel economy and that you can't get your car fully loaded. It was either the entertainment system or the sunroof. I feel they should resolve this in the future....read morehide

This vehicle is awesome. It drives like a car. We have driven it about 4K and are completely thrilled. We have a loaded Grand Touring model. The DVD/stereo sytem is incredible. Good acceleration and handling. Third row seat is not for adults, but for kids it works great. Rain sensing wipers work fantastic and is a great option. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone....read morehide

I love this SUV, it is huge inside, great MPG even with the diluted and low quality gasoline sold in Mexico. I believe its a great value even thought I paid 6,000 usd more in taxes for it to mantain the corrupt Mexican government. It is still a great value after this obscene price increase due to taxes. At the price you get it in the States, it is a bargain....read morehide

Having had multiple new SUVs (BMW X3, Chevy Tahoe, and S10 Blazer) over the years - considering a Mazda SUV/crossover wasn't really on my mind until I decided I needed more interior elbow room.
Then I read about the Motor Trend award, kicked the tires at the local car show, and decided to consider it. Since my wife is the primary driver, she had the last word...(as if...lol). The vehicle is fairly scarce to buy with decent options here in AZ, but I knew I wanted the Grand Touring variant with a tow pkg.
The vehicle I found was priced less then comparable luxury 'utes with more wiz bang technology then I could have imagined. We're still playing with all the technology almost a month later !! The in ceiling gameboy/DVD player with wireless controller, and wireless headphones will surely satisfy the little darlings !!
Safe to say I've done my due diligence on this vehicle and compared it to almost everything currently available. One thing I did find in my analysis is NOT to consider the GM variants (Outlook, Acadia, Traverse...). Why? Supposedly they're not engineered as well as the Mazda CX-9 and mechanics who've worked on both after 20k miles have shared - hands down the CX-9 has fewer issues, better engineering and will have a longer life then the GMs.
Being a GM guy - I wanted to hear otherwise...but appreciated their information sharing.
So - without hesitation I share with you the Mazda CX-9 is the 'best of the bunch'. Don't buy it thinking it will get the best gas mileage - it won't. Do buy it thinking it will carry seven more comfortably then most, with one of the highest cubic inch interior storage with the rear seats folded down.
