Awesome 2008 RX8

by Andrew Polyak from West Reading, PA (7/13/08)
Pros:Unique engine, unique looking, handling among the best, braking among the best
Cons:Poor fule mileage, nothing else.....

I have owned a 2008 RX8 for 5 weeks. I got a tremendous deal on it, list 32,100 paid 26,646 with no trade. The car is very fun to drive/rev. It handles very well, not much need to slow down for on/off ramps as the car holds the road like velcro. It is not the fastest car on the road in a straight line but it's handling and braking are far superior than most other cars making this one an extremely fun choice! The fuel mileage is not good at all, however if you do the math,232 horsepower from a 1.3 litre engine...that is about 175 horses from every liter of engine....can you name any other car that makes more horses per cc? I cannot think of any. Nor can I think of another car who has a redline at 9,000 RPM! This car lives to be revved, it gets more fun and better sounding as you approach the top of the rev gauge, the price for this much power from a small engine that revs high is poor fuel economy. Also, who expects 40 mpg from a sports/touring car anyway? What else can I say? I got the GT package, 6 speed, it's beautiful dark grey with sand color leather seats, no nav system for me, i prefer maps! All in all a great car, it stands apart in looks, engine, handling, braking....I am glad mazda is different....so many cars look alike.

I couldn't let go... so I bought another one!

by E.M. from Fort Lauderdale, FL (6/24/08)
Pros:Ride, Comfort and Handling
Cons:Low Torque

I just love the RX-8. I am now on my second!... so I guess that says it all. I now drive the 40 Aniversary Edition after driving a Grand Touring for 4 years.

Car is awesome! however it just misses a little more umpf... 100 Pounds more of torque and some more HPs...

Gas Mileage... it dependends how you drive... if you drive it like a Corolla... you'll get your MPG... but whay buy and RX-8 to fdrive like grandma...

Awesome car

by Alex from Berea , Ohio (5/20/08)
Pros:Handling , Looks , Comfort
Cons:Bad gas milage . Bad winter car

This car handles like a dream , but is also a very comfortable car for everyday driving. The six speed automatic gives decent gas milage considering the kind of car it is. The looks could not be any better in my opinion (SHARP ). I have a 2007 model , and the 2008 is a continuation of it .

I love my wanna-be porsche- by a 50/y/o woman

by Brenda from Santa Rosa, Cali (5/06/08)
Pros:Great handling, decent fuel economy, and amazingly roomy trunk-

I have first model year 2004 RX-8 and I love it as much today as the day I first test drove it. I rack up the freeway miles, and its so nice to sit in the comfort of the RX-8, even in traffic! I am totally impressed with the handling on this car- and with how roomy the back seat is , especially with the easy access due to the suicide doors--
I get comments in parking lots all the time on what a great looking car it is. (and yes, guys do try to race me alot.....i just smile....i dont think they are expecting a 50 year old woman to be behind the wheel!!)
lastly, I do catering and it is totally amazing how much I can get into the trunk of this car, much more than in my boyfriends Murano!
dont hesitate for a minute if you are considering buying one of these, soooooooooooo nice!!!

I absolutely love this car i have the 6 speed grand tourning. w/gps.. and it seems as if the car is takeing care of me in every conditions the drive stablity is great the breaks it stops on a dime and it hug's you in its seat and seat belt and if thats not enough the rear door and front door can wrap arround you if you are standing next to it huging it cause if you own this you will find yourself stareing at it as often as you can and it seems to never fade.. the looks the smile it gives you.. great sound system.. good room can fit 2 full size adults in the back and its comfy back there too.

This car is magical.

by Joshua from Watertown NY (5/03/08)
Pros:big league handling, video game looks, linear power delivery goes on forever
Cons:bad MPG's, not much torque on the low end

Amazing car to drive. Handles better than BMW m or Porsche GT, and can outbrake any other cat out there. Not much torque at low RPM,s, but once you get that tiny rotary spun up to about 5k, look out. With 9k RPMs on tap, you can run with anyone. Limited slip differential keeps the power organized when things get crazy, dynamic stability control keeps you pointed in the right direction, and a carbon fiber drive shaft keeps the power coming. Zoom zoom.

simply awesome!

by Antony from coral gables, florida (4/19/08)
Pros:excellent daily driver and perfect weekend track sports car
Cons:None

Very happy and this is coming from someone who downsized from a 2007 porsche GT3. After watching speedsource mazda rx-8 smoking porsche gt3 and the rest, I was sold, I went to the mazda dealership and bought one, couldn't believe how inexpensive but I guess coming from spending 150 grand on a GT3, any japanese car is cheap. Anyways, I love the rotary engine, I don't think its underpowered, its a track car, you need to track it to really understand what it can do, on the streets, its more than enough power and ignore the idiots that want to try you, in your head know that this very car beats porsche gt3's and ferrari f430's at the track to name a few. track it, pamper it love your mazda rx-8, best overall bang for the buck, can't say enough, really amazing sports car, thanks MAZDA!

2007 RX-8 Owner

by Len Dixon from Orlando FL (4/03/08)
Pros:Good the handling and feeling in the curves, ground effects and spoiler enhance the appearance
Cons:Needs more HP and Torque

Gas mileage isn't the greatest, but that's to expected from a sports car. Comfortable seating and holds the road very nicely at high speeds...120MPH +. Would like Mazda to produce a Speed version, perhaps with a super and / or turbo-charger...needs more torque. But overall, definately an eye catching vehicle. Considering the CC (1300) and cubic inch (80) displacement of its Renesis Engine, quite a powerful machine.

A great total package!

by PD from New port Richey, FL. (3/29/08)
Pros:Awesome Drivetrain, handling, brakes, fit and finnish
Cons:My wife hates it! Only after her ticket

Fast enough, handles superb, has a back seat you can use and my golf clubs fit in the trunk! Average 21mpg city/highway with the best of 23mpg after installing an K+N air filter. What more could you ask for?

Great overall package

by Jaime A from Redondo Beach, CA. (12/18/07)
Pros:Nimble handling, great gear box, spacious, great suspension, love the engine
Cons:Gas consumption.

Love this car. Yes, the gas consumption is a little high, but for a rotary enthusiast that is the price to pay. Superb suspension, unmatched cornering capabilities, nice engine sound, feels like a sports car, and it is a sports car.

Hope mazda brings the RX7 with a 3 ROTOR 20B engine. Come on Mazda, you will loose customers to other brands because you do not want to bring in the high powered rotary engine, the 3 rotor Mazda!!!

Overall, great car. Yes, it is kind of thirsty, but it is not bad, and bear in mind you are driving a cool sports car.
