Stunning looking car. Love the voice activated DVD , CD , telephone, sat navigation. Command 50 sound system has SD card and 4 GB hard drive, 6 stack CD or DVD player..Sat Nav clear and precise with directions. 3L motor plenty of power. This car has class and power...I had the model before and the boot was a lttle small. This boot is large enough for a weekend trip or for the groceries. So go for the voice activation prgoramme....read morehide

I love this car and would venture that statement to be true of just about anyone who owns it. Even the base model delivers more than adequate performance in the way of handling and power.
Fuel ecomony on a car with a 3L engine is outstanding... in a recent trip, with a passenger and cargo in the rear, I achieve 29.0 over a 600 mile trip. You wouldn't expect that out of a sports car.
Trunk space is surprisingly good when the top is up, providing enough room for a couple of over night bags and assorted small packages.
When the top is down, room reduces a bit, but still enough for a few small things like a briefcase, a couple bags of groceries or an overnight bag.
Did I mention this car is beautiful?
I have absolutely no complaints about this vehicle. I just find it odd that Mercedes placed a 280 badge on their 3.0 L base model... in 2009, they corrected that, as the model has the same engine, but the 300SLK badge.
You should consider the p2 package at a minimum... it has the air scarf, winter package and ipod adapter. You won't find a Mercedes that isn't ordered that has a p1 package, they just don't come that way. P3 is good if you want the nav, wheels, etc... but unnecessary iin my opinion because the base model is quite styled already. There's also the Edition 10 (anniversary) package, which adds some different wheels, badgets, and styling on the interior. It's a nice vehicle, but as you get into heavily optioned vehicles you lose considerable value for your money (but resale remains higher). And finally, there is the AMG, which is about 10k higher, plus gas tax... In my opinion, its a great option, but expensive. However, with gas so high, the demand for this model may be waning a big, leaving room for some discounts.
If you have the money, spring for the AMG... why? the competition is the boxter and BMW M, which both have nothing on this car in the form of styling. The BMW looks like any other sedan-coupe, and has a hard time standing out in the crowd among cars 30k cheaper. The Prosche has become some mundain in styling, they ought to scrap and redesign that platform altogether (boxter).
In the end, SLK is a classic roadster and as an owner, you'll swoon from day 1 to 150,000 miles... and every mile in beteween....read morehide

Poor design on location of cup holder. Advise not to use as if liquid splashes out of cup it will mess up the Radio. Mercedes Benz will not stand behind on a Warranty so unless you want to throw money away I suggest NEVER using the cup holder not even on a long trip. Overall, love this car.
It drives well, and provides a unique edge against its competition, with it's F-1 styled nose, retractable hard-top and great performance.
The SLK55 AMG is obviously faster than the SLK350, but also comes with a higher price tag and the gas-guzzler task.
If you can't get the AMG, get the SLK350 and load it with options. You won't miss the extra .5 second in the 0-60 dash....read morehide

Refined and quite at speed, a superb grand tourer with good fuel consumption and performance for two.
I did 800kms a day for two days on European motorways, and I never got our of the car feeling tired. Other cars may have been slightly faster on the short term, and passed me on the autobhan, but half an hour later I re-passed them as they slowed down enough to hear themselves think. A genuine relaxing fast car with perfect manners, for the long haul....read morehide

It's small(?) sports car's perfection.
The design is awesome. sometimes it looks cute !!
Anyway, Cupholder's location is very strange and it's only for 2 cups.
But I can say it's really nice car except inside size(area-too small OMG :D).
If you wanna buy, you have to add Appearance Package.
That's really important my recommendation....read morehide

This car performs better than my 99 Boxster (love the boxster tho too); test drove the following BEFORE buying and got a great deal ($6k off msrp) on this 07 SLK280: S2000, Z-4, Audi TT & A-4; Stang GT; 350ZX; Boxster.
No other 2-seater roadster has what this car has (see items listed in pros above)! No brainer for me.
Love it...read morehide

I own an SLK 280. I have been absolutely blown away by the attention this vehicle gets whenever I drive it. I love the way the car handles and the smooth shifting of the automatic transmission. My average gas mileage is 24MPG to 27MPG. The more I drive it the more I eant to drive it. The body style is sweet....read morehide
