We got our Sable in late April and have logged 12,000 miles. We are greatly pleased with our purchase and my wife and I both feel this is the best car overall we have owned. Would highly recommend the Sable to anyone looking for a roomy, smooth riding set of wheels.

I recently got married and traded my 2006 mustang for a 2008 Sable premier because my wife could not drive a stick. The sable had 10,000 miles on it so i only paid 20,000. I loved my mustang and was really upset about getting rid of it, but I am now glad i traded it for the Sable. The Sable ride is very smooth and I love the leather seats, sat. radio, heated seats, and the moon/sun roof. Just pick up my 2008 Sable July 4th weekend. i ordered it in March as i could find one that i wanted in Southern California. Go figure. Well, Ford has done a great job in design and building the sable. My expectations have been exceeded. The car has plenty of room, more then enough power. The gas milege is pretty good for the size of the car. And the sync system is OUTSTANDING. I am so impressed with sync system. The quality of the finishes is equal to that of a 40k auto from a foreign car.
I wish ford marketing would wake up and realize that they build an excellent car, not just trucks , and promote it with the enthusiasm it deserves.

Anyone that thinks that ford can't compete against a japanese car doesn't know what they are talking about. I've been a ford customer since 1989 and stand by the product. To bad the automotive media doesn't stand up and raise the flag that an american car company builds an excellent auto.

My new sable is wonderful. More room then I thought it would have, and everything is placed in the right spot. All convenient placement of buttons. They really put some thought into this. The ride is great, just like a Lincoln, and for under 30 k it's a STEAL....read morehide

Miss HID lights;Trunk molding has issues: VERY MINOR!

I traded a loaded '06 Milan for a loaded '08 Sable. Has ALL the options:Especially like the Nav.System & Sirius radio. A tad "floaty" on sharper roads, but this is a larger car than Milan so I expected this.I find the power to be more than adaquate. That's the reason I bought the Milan over the Montego. Montego was way underpowered for such a large car.New Sable is somewhat faster than the Milan(especially highway passing)Milage is still "calculating" on the computor. I'm guessing about 19MPG city; close to 25MPG highway. Quite close to what the Milan got.
The minuses are few: No HID lights like Montego(I bought "HID conversion" set online)Also for those of you out there...Watch the rear trunk "molding" It has the habit of "Bulging" out. This allows water to get trapped against trunk lid. This could lead to rust down the line.The dealer SHOULD remove it, apply more adhesive & reattach it.
So far that seems to have worked. I noticed that out of 6 cars in the lot, that 4 had this issue. Not major, but be aware it's rather common.
To sum up: this has been an excellent car with a very "minor" fixit....read morehide

While some of the posts seem to be from Ford sales folks, this one is not. I don't understand why Ford/Mercury isn't selling more of these vehicles. Great purchase value vs. comparably equipped imports. Interior detail is darn near flawless.. Shorter overall than my company provided "GM" platform but the Sable has tons more useful room. First road trip of 80% hwy driving, with a lot of holiday traffic, still yielded 27.8mpg. Performance for this size vehicle is better than any similar sized US made product with a V-6. I suppose if you drive it hard, the mpg will drop drastically, but at $4 a gallon, I'm not in so much of a hurry anymore!!...read morehide

I've had my Sable for 7 months. After a few thousand miles car developed a noise in front suspension that's very annoying. Noise is most pronounced when crossing speed bumps, dips or ridges in pavement, turning right or left, going up or down hill. Any condition that works the front suspension produces this noise which is growing worse and louder with time and use. Don't know if this is a safety issue....read morehide

leather is hard and truck is wierd shaped but trunk is deep.

took a 1400 mile trip from michigan to florida sat in back most of the time very roomie and spaceious i'm 5'11, trunk fit alot but had wierd grooves to fit the wheels and frame but it did fit our junk for 5 people for 1 week. car was quit but had more road noise then wind.

I bought mine this past weekend. I took it out for a long drive and found the car to be very comfertable and quite. Powerful engine and all the creature comforts are standard on base model. Mine came with the the interior convenience package, security package, sirius radio, reverse sensing system. The car handles beautifully for a large car. And there are not very many on the road so it stands out in the crowd.. Definitely looks better Taurus....read morehide
