I have owned my Premier for 7 months now and like it just as much as the day we drove it away. As someone else posted, I went in to buy a Lincoln and left with the Sable and a lot more money. The car rides comfortably, the gas mileage is great for the engine size - I'm getting around 23 mpg and it appears to be still improving as I do more highway driving. The trunk is huge and the fold down feature just makes things even better. Passengers don't feel even the slightest bit cramped in the back seat. Visibility is great. The cars looks are very distinctive and pleasing. It is a bit sluggish on tight turns, but what can you expect for a 3800 pound car? We need to replace our other vehicle soon and my wife is lobbying for another Sable and I believe she'll get her wish....read morehide

Two weeks old! Drove from Dallas to Houston and back. Very nice and stable drive due to weight, but with a very fuel efficient and powerful 262 HP engine! Feels safe and solidly built car. Mercury has a winner, finally! Nice brakes and good looking light sage color. Good high seats and interior finish. Cannot complain about a thing!...read morehide

While others have detracted from the styling, I like the simplicity of the lines and the minimum use of chrome. In the sable I see a car that was designed using European styling while maintaning an elegant flair. The car has power to spare and I feel the suspension is much better than what I felt while test driving the Taurus. Nonetheless you still feel a few bumps here and now, most likely because of the 18 inch wheels with a rather low profile tire. The car also feel well built, the quality of the materials and fit has improved over previous Ford products. Did I mention I and my wife like SYNC.... if we can ever learn to use all it's options.
Fuel economy is a mixed bag. At the moment I Have not had the opportunity to drive the car on highways so I cannot comment of Highway fuel economy, but in City driving under normal circumstances I am averaging close to 19 MPG some times 20 MPG
The only outstanding issue is front leg room comfort specially for tall people (center ped gets inthe wayof our knees). Also a telescopiong steering wheel would be a plus and welsomed for shorter people (my wife). Other than that all else is wonderful...read morehide

Did not expect an unrepairable problem in front suspension. Dealer seervice says it is not unsafe and Ford is aware of the problem.looking for solution.
sounds like metal on metal to me, they say it is a rubber on rubbe sound

I was in need of a new car to replace my old car and i looked at the 2008 toyota camry and the 2008 Mercury Sable. The Sable won my purchase because of its looks, the Sable looks very sexy while the camry looks like a rotton egg. The Sable is better built, reliable 3.5 260 horse power engine that lets you know you have some power under the hood. I average 27 miles per gallon and for a huge car like the sable that weights nearly 3800 pounds, thats really excellant. The Sable is also alot safer compared to the camry and i also get alot of thumbs up and parking lots and i will also mention that i park at the end of a parking lot where no cars are but when im done with my shopping i walk back to my sable and find tons and tons of cars are parked around it. Now that tells you something :)
Overall, the sable is the best pick for a family sedan and i would not hesitate to buy another one....read morehide

I traded in a 2005 Cadillac SRX fully loaded for a 2008 Mercury Sable Premier AWD fully loaded with satellite radio, navigation, rear DVD and bluetooth sync. I am extremely pleased with this vehicle. It rides better and is quieter than the Cadillac I previously drove. It has one of the largest trunks available in a sedan at over 21 cubic feet. I paid $30,500 with all these features...at least $20,000 lower than if I had bought another Cadillac. The Cadillac had poor quality. This vehicle seems to be built solid. It is every bit as luxurious as any other $50,000+ vehicle when fully loaded. Check it out!...read morehide

Honestly, the car needs about another inch of leg/foot room especially for taller drivers 6'2" and above. Also, the surfaces that can touch the driver's legs should be padded or upholstered and not plastic to give more comfort. Otherwise, the car handles well and can scat. The view and raised seating are a bonus. Be sure to get the Nav. system and Electronic Stablity Control options....read morehide

I baught my 2008 Sable almost 2 months ago and love it! Mercury has really outdone themselves on this wonderful vehicle. I baught a base model with some options and find it very nice. The ride is good, the fuel economy is good and its a very stylish car inside and out. It is really a pleasure to drive this car and its quite a head turner as well. I baught the first one in my city. From the moment I saw it I loved it and after test driving it and other vehicles it was clear that the Mercury Sable was the best buy. I can not say enough about this car and how good it is. You have to go drive one for yourself and see. That is the best way and all the research you'll need before seeing for yourself that it truely is a great buy. You will not be let down by this car....read morehide

I bought my 2008 Mercury Sable a five days ago and i love this car. I needed a new car to replace my 2002 toyota which i've had bad history with. I drove past my local Lincoln-Mercury dealer and i stumbled across a mercury sable that caught my attention. The car a elegant and sexy look. This car has a great look unlike the imports. I average between 28 and 32 mpg on the highway depending on how i accelerate. I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a safe, roomy and reliable vehicle and the Sable beats them all....read morehide
