Mitsubishi has developed the all wheel drive EVO to the extent that Subaru has not been able to compare with the EVO every year and that the EVO now is setting its target on the BMW 335xi as its competitor! The latest EVO is capable of dethroning the BMW pricey 3 series with its hard cornering traits and acceleration thrills. The price factor comes into play with the BMW at $41,575 against the EVO's $33,615, the rear wheel drive of the BMW vs all wheel drive EVO, 6 cylinder turbo, 300 Hp, 300 lb-ft of torque of the BMW vs the 4 cylinder turbo, 295 Hp, 300 lb-ft of torque of the EVO with one full liter less displacement at 2.0 liter EVO vs 3.0 Liter BMW. For BMW $10,000 more in price, the BMW has a nicer interior, but the EVO has slightly bigger cabin interior. The latest EVO X is much quieter than the last EVO IX generation and has now features navigational system and blue tooth conductivity. Mitsubishi spent the right money on the interior which matters most for consumers and focused on the excellent, supportive recaro seats.
The BMW has a sub five second 0-60 time, but the EVO is quicker and the EVO owns the skidpad with a supercar like 0.97 g of grip. The BMW is the ultimate driving machine; the EVO is your partner in speed, facilitating a level of fast that, in the BMW, would place you in the passenger seat and Hnas Stuck at the wheel!...read morehide

Great Mind blowing car....grunting power...superb handling. This car is ideal for drivers who wants to vrooom pass as the red turns to green...Handling the car above 120 mph is like riding a volcano...on the whole a son of a gun...literally.

I had a '99 Honda Civic SI before I bought a 2008 Evo, so you can imagine the difference! While my Civic was the color, make and model that I wanted, as soon as I saw the Evo, I had to have it. So my husband took me to the dealership and drove off the lot with one. It is absolutely gorgeous and I must say, my Civic never turned as many heads as my Evo does. You can definitely get up and go if you punch it. Some things that I wish could have been improved is gas mileage of course. But I could have already guessed that that was not going to happen. The interior could look a bit more luxurious in my opinion. I wish the screen for my radio would scroll information such as the artist and name of the song, but it doesn't. You have to push a button in order to read the rest of what it is saying. Other than those minor adjustments, this vehicle is great and I am so stoked to be driving around in it. We have received so many comments about how nice it is. Overall it is such a great investment!...read morehide

I am very happy with my decision to get the Mitsubishi Evolution and the power, warranty, style, lightness, price, value and handling that goes with this car. The bigger 8 cylinders found around and also the sixes are just to fuel thirsty that I will not enjoy driving it around that much. I am well satisfied with my Evo and will stay with Mitsubishi for their next model change. Glad to have switched and never knew this car maker has been around for the last 90 years in Japan! They really know how to make excellent cars!...read morehide

2008 mitsubishi lancer evolution GSR, color: gg
Pros:
-fun to drive...honestly not sure what else to say..
-seats are COMFORTABLE.
Cons:
-cheap plastic interior just like the regular '08 Lancer (I own 2, DE and GTS, pretty much same interior).
Things Mitsu could fix in the future:
-rattling
-add auto-window up/down options for other windows other than just the driver's side
-add lights to the vanity mirrors under the sun-shade flaps...but whatever, I can deal with it (this isn't a luxury car after-all)
Things that just tick me off:
-the GTS had volume/audio controls located on the steering wheel. Yes, the evo has controls on the steering wheel...but not to control volume/audio! They replaced it with a knob to control the AWC system. Honestly, I don't see why I need THOSE there, but I might just be picky.
Otherwise, if you're looking for speed, this is the car to get. But if you're looking for half/half, well, I guess I still could say this is the car to get, but there are some imperfections.....read morehide

I just finished my road test on the new EVO X and have a blast on the road. It performed just as I read about from Road & Track magazine comparing it with the Subaru. The EVO X came out ahead of the Subaru on that road test because of the superior road handling from the turns. I already placed my order for the new EVO X and should arrive ht enext few weeks!!!...read morehide

I currently own an sti, but I hate to break it to you guys, the evo is the better car hands down. They handle far better, are much better designed for track use, and the engines are far more capable than the subaru. The 4g63 in the evo 8 and 9 has been shown to handle up to 1000+ hp, whereas the ej25 in the sti can handle a maximum of about 700, and it requires far more major work to produce that power in the sti than in the evo.The new 4b11 motor in the evo has an aluminum block much like the sti, but uses a much stronger bottom end and is built with stronger internals for the higher boost applications that the evo sees. The subaru is slightly better made, but mitsubishi has improved their quality a lot in recent years. While mitsubishi has had more problems in the past than subaru, their motors have always been considered bulletproof, and their chassis design and suspension setup is far more nimble. The sti is a great car, and I have owned mine for almost 4 years, but one drive in the evo and I knew that I had bought the less capable machine. Don't take my word for it, trust the magazines. Every year the two have battled it out, and the evo has always won. This year, for the 2008 model, the car is more refined, has better build quality, and better overall performance than the previous generations, and hhas beaten the new sti in every single comparison test in evey magazine. Road and track, motor trend, car and driver, edmunds, automobile magazine, the list goes on and on. I am trading my sti in on the new evo X in about a week, and can't wait. The magazines don't lie boys, the evo is the better car. Believe what you want....read morehide
