I traded a 2005 Camry for this Maxima, and miss the Camry! The Nissan has a rougher ride--maybe from the larger wheels. The interior does make the '08 Camry's interior look cheap, however. Mileage is around 24mpg, which is very disappointing. My husband says he cannot see out the back window and hates driving the car. Manufacturers should let females have input during the design process !!!...read morehide

This is my first Maxima. I have owned other Nissan cars like the 06 and 08 Altima 3.5. I think that Nissan has done a great job on the powertrain of the two vehicles, but failed horribly on the interior quality of the Altima. The Maxima feels must better in quality than both of my previous Altima

Car just shuts down while driving down the street or interstate. Service engine soon lights appear. Wires have melted, also found loose cables. Had to be towed to a dealer 60 miles away. Made 3 other trips there and nobody can seem to fix the problem. 40+ error codes appeared last service. They have had the car for over 3 weeks now. We have called and emailed Nissan but have not had any results, mostly ignored. The dealer that sold us the car wants nothing to do with it and has told the service dept near us to deal with it....read morehide

I've had this car about three weeks and absolutely love it. Nissan has really put a ton of extras into this car: Heated seats, keyless entry (which really comes in handy more often than you might think) automatic rear view mirror dimmer, automatic radio volume adjustment, electric seats with numerous adjustments for the best in comfort, fog lights, turning lights, side air bags (not counting the wife) head air bags, and tire pressure warning lights.
Now about the car itself: It rides as smooth as a much more expensive model and accelerates like a big block V8. The combination of a peppy 3.5 liter V6 with Nissan's CVT (constant variable transmission) add up to one quick little car. For a car that gets 19-25 mpg, this one will really surprise you. And its nice to be able to accelerate without the jaring effect of the transmission shift every few seconds.
If you buy one get the SE model. It has a better suspension and the Goodyear Eagle GT tires. You can add the sensory option if you want leather sets and a Boze sound system (which is awsome) . But, look around. I found a big variation in price by the dealers in the Dallas area....read morehide

I enjoy the car. It rides, handles, responds with great satisfaction. however, you'll want to cut your heart out if there are problems with emissions. This car has sensors everywhere to make things better! What they did was create a nightmare on service and repair. You will probably never have to take it in for engine repair or anything mechanical. Your car will almost always be in because a sensor died. The service center will make an argument that its a machine. Do not let them tell you that! Emissions is not mechanical. Tell them to show you the bearings or gears. There are none. You will however, pay them thousands for these fixes. BEWARE! Do your research Nissan Emissions...read morehide

I just purchased this car about 100 miles from my home and drove it home. I LOVE IT. My ride was quiet and comfortable. I just wish I had hooked up my bluetooth already. There are so many features in this car (a heated stearing wheel?!?!) that it will take me years to discover how to use them all. Plus - since the 09s are here I got a smoking deal on my 08. I highly recommend this car....read morehide

I traded my 2007 Ram Sport with the Hemi engine for this Maxima when unleaded gasoline went up to 3.19/gallon, and I must say that I am very happy with my purchase. The suspension is nice and firm and the pick up is pretty descent for a V6. I wasn't expecting muscle-car perfomance, since my other previous car was a Camaro with a 5.7L V8.
The interior quality is excellent too; the leather seats are very comfortable and the leather is top quality.
I opted for the SE model with the optional leather, Bose, sunroof, and heated seats. The only things missing where the HID lamps, sonar, and navigation. I was a little bummed about not having HID lamps on my car, but then I found a Maxima forum where a member was selling HID kits for about 140.00 dlls. I purchased these within the first month and now my car looks alot more expensive than it is :)...read morehide

I know my car is not a 2008. But in many ways, it is similar. I think someone like myself who has spent countless hours in my car every single day during the week driving the whole state of Indiana has something to give to those who are looking into one of these little monsters.
I love my car, take out the cons, and leave in the gas and horsepower. I have over 200k in miles, of course its a 2004, but still, I have not been very good at changing the oil like I should, and I still have yet to get a tune up. And it is still my favorite ride. I am sure if I get my tune up, It would run a little smoother, but too be honest, I still get up off the line to the next red light pretty well. It would still look great if it was not for my wife backing into me or some hill jack backing his boat trailer in my front bumper and some ingrates keying my paint job. Oh well, My next one, I will park out in Egypt so I have no worries.
Thank you Nissan, Can not wait until I get my next one next year. Yahooooooooooo!
Sincerely Bill of Indy :)...read morehide
