Great Car. I do a lot of highway driving and definately got more bang for my buck. I upgraded from a 2001 Grand Am GT1 to the G6 GXP Handles well, excelerates well, always being asked what kind of car it is. Lack of the Pontiac symbol all over the car I believe prompts those questions. Have had issues with the paint and rear brakes needing to be cleaned every 3 months. Also have an issue with the chrome plate peeling off the rims, dealer is replacing under warranty. Also with brake dust flakes sticking to the paint and it looks like rust. Interior wise has a lot to offer with room and comfort. The engine by far is one of the better quality engines GM builds. I have had the car a year exactly this month and have over 30,000 miles on it with no major complaints other than the paint and the rims, car runs great...read morehide

Ive had this car for 2 months now and have had no problems.. the 219hp really comes in handy when your driving on the highway.. as long as you know how to drive you will get great mpg.. the ratings are 26 highway and 17 city but you can get better as long as you dont drive it crazy.. the best i have gotten so far was 28.0 mpg at about 75% highway driving and the worst has been 25.0 mpg at 50% highway driving.. i saw a review on here where a guy said he was lucky to get 17 mpg and i find that hard to believe.. either hes a very rough driver, or he only drives in stop and go traffic... its a good buy, to bad pontiac is no more...read morehide

THIS CAR WENT THOUGH SNOW LIKE NOTHING. I rented one from enterprise this week, and the suspension and handling was perfect, I would have never been interested in this car, until I rented it. It was fabulous!

I purched a G-6 last year and LOVE IT! I am 22 and this is the first car I have bought. I have only one regret and that is that i didn't buy it sooner... Drives smooth and is confortable.. My favorite feature is that you can set it so you can see your miles per gallon as you drive... Super on gas... So glad I didn't get a camary....read morehide

This car has been excellent for me thus far. It is fast, decent fuel economy for power, and handles awesome. No regrets. The 6 speed transmission is awesome, and I think GM should use it in all their cars. The only thing I can say negative is the fog lamps have to be manually turned on every time and the air noise is a bit high vs. a Buick type car....read morehide

Front windsheild is at such a steep angle that it is not possible to clean the inside unless you have gorilla arms. Oh, did you know that a replacement single windsheild wiper blade costs over $25? Although adjustable, the driver's seat cannot be adjust into any position that is not tilted/angled for discomfort/poor posture. Getting into &/or sitting in the passenger's seat is like sitting on the ground. You can forget putting groceries, backpack, or even a purse in the back seat because it is impossible to get anything into/out of the back seat unless you are a double-jointed child. I've already had the driver's seatbelt replaced twice in less than a year because it didn't retract, and the newest one still hangs out the door unless I "guide" it back into position. Even the remote keyless entry has been replaced twice because it stopped working. Like I said before, this car has been nothing but annoying...read morehide

I bought this car used with about 8K miles on it. I love it so far, as it has a great and unique curb appeal, and the interior reflects Pontiac's performance-driven brand.
--It came loaded with plenty of extras, and I especially like the 6-way power seat, heated seats, and remote start.
--The car accelerates very well on the highway and is a smooth and quiet ride. The transmission includes a Manual Mode/Tap Shift, but I have yet to figure out what to use it for. Gas mileage is about average for a 6-cylinder engine (I get about 22.5 MPG per tank). I can really feel the 219 HP.
--It rides really well in the snow, and even with plenty of snow so far this winter, the traction control has only activated a few times.
--The trunk hinges/hydraulics are located on the outside of the trunk, not the inside. This is nice so that you don't smash any of your belongings or groceries when you close your trunk. Speaking of trunk, there is plenty of space, though the opening looks kind of small.
--I don't know the exact name for them, but the winshield wipers are great. They are the soft, flexible wipers that kind of conform to and press against the windshield. They don't leave many streaks, and ice removal is really easy in the winter.
The cons I have discovered so far:
--The seatbelt sits right on my neck and upper shoulder, which makes the ride a little uncomfortable. I am only 5'4", though. The seatbelts do not adjust up and down on the inside of the car, but adjusting the seat hight helps some.
--Though I have gotten used to it, the visibility is quite low out of the back window. I have never really relied heavily on my mirrors to drive, but if you are comfortable with using them and not turning to look at the road, you will be fine.
--My G6 came with an upgraded Monsoon sound system (I do not know the exact wattage of the system off the top of my head). This has actually been the biggest disappointment to me so far of all of the car's features. The problem to me is the power, not the quality of the sound. It has a great stereo sound, with high mounted tweeters and a subwoofer, but I do not feel a real "punch" to my music. The sound does not crackle or sound like I am blowing out my speakers when I turn it up loud, but the audio could be a little more powerful. I almost enjoyed my 8-year-old Pioneer non-factory system better in my old car.
--This may be petty, but I would personally like to see a little bit more chrome accents on the lower grille on the front. The OEM all-chrome grille insert is a little over-the-top for me. I kept the factory black plastic.
--There are a lot of buttons and gauges inside. This doesn't bother me, but it may be a little overwhelming for a driver that is not used to them.
--The windows automatically open about a half-inch when the door is opened. The windows don't have a frame around them, so I think this is to prevent the bare glass from hitting the car when the door is closed. It is a good idea, but when it is really cold, the windows freeze up. They still try to open, and I am concerned that this will over exert the motor in the windows. Also, if it is cold and they freeze up, they do not automatically close back up and you have to do it by hand.
Please keep in mind that all of the pros of this car far outweigh my cons, and I am extremely happy with the G6 coupe. My biggest disappointment is the sound system.
I would highly recommend this car, for performance and appearance!...read morehide

I have the 2008 G6 GXP Street Edition in Performance Red Metallic...traded in an '07 G6 coupe for the awesome upgrade! This car has great power and the appearance is amazing. I would def reccommend this car to anyone who wants something sleek and fast and loaded with every option available!!...read morehide

I'm about 26,500 miles into my lease. My previous car was a '98 Lumina that had 199,098 miles before dying, so I'm under the philosophy of killing my car before buying a new car. A friend recommended leasing a car before investing another $10k into a car. Good advice. Initially, this car was nice. It was like grey with cream color seats. As a V4 G6, it came with an automatic starter. Mileage is a great improvement from my Lumina (V6). Max I pay for a full tank of gas is $26 and that lasts me the entire week (I drive 300 miles a week).
But after driving for it a while, I've noticed some issues. When I start the automatic starter and I insert the key to turn it, sometimes the electronic instruments such as the radio and dash board will not turn ok. Usually, it takes couple of seconds for the electrical stuff to come on. If it doesn't, I have to completely shut down the car and restart it to have the electrical stuff to come on.
Braking is sometimes light, in that you have to start braking sooner then later. Brake pads have been checked by the dealership and Discount tire; no issues reported. When you drive in heavy snow, like many light sedan cars, the G6 does struggle. Steering in the snow is not responsive. Never try taking a sharp turn with a G6 in the rain.
With my good experience with my Lumina, I thought I would initially buy this car, but with the electrical issues specifically and GM's reliability history, I'll likely return the car after the lease. I'll likely purchase a Honda or a Toyota....read morehide
