Terrific performance. Excellent acceleration, handles curves better than my MB sedan, most comfortable vehicle I have ever rode in.
Test drove BMW X5, ML 350 and RR sport - Cayenne S performance beats them all hands down. If you have the extra $18K by an "S", the performance is just incredible, you will appreciate the acceleration vs Base model. Awesome sports car type performance....read morehide

Love my Cayenne! Solid & Real. No gimmicks. Everything fits together...like they take pride & care. Handles any road, curves or straight, bumpy or smooth. Stays with ya. Versatile enough for kids, dogs, snow, or night on the town. Cayenne is a keeper!

just picked up my cayenne and drove home yesterday. Mind you I have an X5 with which I am very happy for the last 136 thousand miles. And I dont know about others but I can tell about a new car in about the first ride. I can already feel this is only an improvment on X5. fit and finish and the overall package, comfort and convenience are top notch. I was only worried about the drive since the X5 is great and I am used to it. But this tops the X5. I cant understand everyone griping about the price point. I bought it for 48K. Can you get a toyota highlander similarly equipped for less than 43. So 5 thousand for porsche for the drive and fit and finish is too much !!!....read morehide

It's an enigma, fun, fast, heavy, comfortable, smooth, utility. I love this car - i mean truck. It feels like a car sometimes, yet feels like a truck as well. Its a lot of fun in both modes. I've have two BMW X5's and this is soooooo much better. first difference is comfort. The Bimmer is bumpy, thumpy and the Porsche is smooth and precise. Bimmer is probably faster, but the trade off is comfort. X5=muscle, Cayenne=strong. Get it. I wanted an SUV, but a third X5 wasn't an option. I knew something was better - Cayenne is it. Toureg is close, but not as refined. It's the no engine noise and Porsche build quality that sets it apoart from the others....read morehide

I have had Cayenne S 2008 for a few months now.
What you get with this car is the great engine and the legendary name. This car performs like a sport car which is amazing giving its size and weight. It feels very precise and handling is very secure. This car is a rare find too. I live in a town of 200,000 people, I see many X-5, MB and Range Rovers here and my car is the only Cayenne I have seen around. I get many complements on it.
What was not as good with this car is the GPS/ Surround Sound System. The GPS 2008 maps are very outdated. The GPS display and functions are retarded to say the least, all my previous potable GPS units were better, and now close to 2009, a $200 Garmin devise is better than this expensive option. Also the Bose Surround Sound was a disappointment, there is truly nothing special about it. Other 2 things not available on this car are Bluetooth connection and push to start engine, and for a 68K car this is a drawback.
Overall no regrets at all, I was aware of all drawbacks before I got this car, but I think if I would buy it again I would skip the GPS and the Surround Sound....read morehide

What power, turns on a dime, and the low - loud - purr of the engine turns heads of those who know power when they hear it!!! Excellent acceleration, feels extremely sturdy, and strong, not like a sports car made for just speed alone. Handles extremely well on long trips, mountain driving, and under unfavorable weather conditions (its not pushed around in heavy wind conditions, I'm not having to fight to keep the car from being hit by gusty winds. I feel extremly secure....read morehide

I've owned a Honda Pilot, an Acura MDX and a Porsche 911 among others, the Cayenne S has to be the best blend of an SUV and a sports car. I've has mine for 5 months. Performance is absolutely amazing. Acceleration in "Sport" mode will push you hard in the back of your seat, and the brakes will push you into the steering wheel. Handling is worthy of a sports car and you will find yourself going around curves easily 20 mph above the speed limit... Watch out for tickets! Equipment level is high, but iPod and bluetooth connectivity are sorely missing and not even available as options.
Overall, the 2008 Cayenne S is an amazing sports car disguised as an SUV....read morehide

a nice car by all standers, fuel economy not great but that is to be expected, that you cant connect your mobile by bluetooth is a pain, and you expect to be able to do so in a car at this level. if someone plays with the gas door when car is parked and locked it will not open(good) but when you do open the car it pops open!!! wish it had a change (coins) compartment. you cant turn the car off and walk away when you are using the keyless option, you have to turn the key 2 seconds to the left first, a pain....read morehide

Most of the cars, Suv or not do not have this kind of acceleration and control. It can be scarely fast if you want it to be. It is a great car and one of its kind. Headturner it is, always.
I got my Cayenne S 4 months ago, However, There were few problems. Both head light would have some moisture inside after driving in heavy rain. The 6 Disc CD box does not working after 2 months. The position of cup holder is behind gear stick, which make it unconmfortable to change gear if you have a big cup of drink. The Sport Drive bottom is not located in a place where you can operate without searching it. I think the Porsche engineers need to re-arrange all these off-road, sport mode, the height adjust bottoms to places that is intuitive to use when driving. The air con swiches also oddly placed.
I think a car at this price range should not have problems I mentioned....read morehide

Immediately prior to this car I owned an X5 and before that an MDX. This car is tons better than either of them. Of course a lot more expensive too. First Porsche I have owned and I love the ride, performance, handling and stopping. Interior is first rate. I was looking for an S but after I drove the GTS I called my wife from the dealership to tell her the price had just gone way up. Bought the car off the lot so it has some options I would not have ordered (illuminated door entry guards and aluminum look instrument dials) and is missing two items I would have liked (6 disc CD changer and automatic headlights) How can an $85,000 car not have automatic headlights??? I also might have preferred full leather seats to the alacantra. Looks great on the headliner though. I think I will buy another one of these in the future but will probably order exactly what I want from the factory even though it will be a long wait.
After having this car for only 6 months I cannot imagine not having some model of Porsche in the future....read morehide
