I've had the car for one month now. I traded in my 97 Camry for 2.5 i limited edition. I am extremely happy with my choice. However I have a bit of longer legs and I had more legroom in Camry. The cargo space is smaller compare to Camry. But this car of course is not in the same class as Camry.
Everything else about the new car is great. Handling, the looks, the style and excellent ride. The gas milage is exactly as it is claimed....read morehide

i see people complain about the noise and i still don't get it. it's a solid car and i don't get much road noise - neither city nor highway.
i bought the pzev to feel a little better about myself. fuel economy runs about 26 city/32 highway.
plenty of room: we have a britax car seat in the back (rear-facing right now) and it doesn't cramp the front seat passenger too much. loads of trunk space for all my fireman gear. we've had the car for a month and a half and have already taken trips to outer banks and western new york - at least 32 hours on the road and it was a smooth, comfortable drive the whole time....read morehide

As a previous Audi owner, I LOVE AWD and NOBODY does it like Subaru does it! Just traded my 2006 Legacy 2.5i SE for a 2009 Legacy 2.5i Ltd. and could not be happier. Now they've got steering wheel buttons for cruise and music, split rear seats, a nice Audi-style net pouch on the back of the front passenger seat, and that wonderful on-the-rails Subaru feeling. This car is such a deal considering its quality and ride/feeling. WAY cheaper and more reliable than the Germans--Audi, VW, BMW 3 series. I live in Los Angeles, where Subaru is a foreign word, but I just spent some time in New England, where Subaru is seemingly the #1 auto choice. I test drove the LGT Ltd., and LOVED it. Performance blew me away! But given the current gas situation, the L Ltd. works better for me. These cars are wonderful and under appreciated. My only complaint is that for a company that seems so identified with the green movement that is SO right now, why isn't there a hybrid in the Subie line up??...read morehide

Car won me over after the test drive due to the superior handling. Most fun to drive out of the 4 Cylinder class. Good MPG for an AWD car as I am getting around 23MPG with a large portion of city driving. The engine noise is very minimal while the road noise is about average. I am very suprised there are not more on the road based on the price for AWD/Traction Control/VDC ability....drives like a low end luxury car. Car is on the small size for its class but comfortable for normal size adults. No regrets as this is my first Subaru....chose over the TSX, Altima, Milan, Accord, Aura, & Rogue....read morehide

It has a comfortable sport-ish feel that conveys the road well to the driver. It is a class winner in handling, but its acceleration is marginal at best. It probably has a 9 sec 0-60. However, it still has plenty of juice in the upper range. I feel confidant since it has performed the heavy traffic merging test no problem multiple times now for me.
I learned that the ECU will learn your driving habits and adjust accordingly. What that means is if you tend to have a lead foot, then the ecu will comply by pumping more fuel whn you press the gas. This results for me in as low as 18mpg in town during "spirited" driving. I have earned 23.5mpg on mixed suburb to city commuting.
The stereo is nothing to write home about but non-picky people might not worry about this. I found a decent set of alpines for cheap and the stock stereo runs them fine. This is a cheap $120 upgrade done yourself.
Some people hate the frameless windows in the doors but I like being able to get out of my car in the summer and look like I own a caddie ;)
This is my 3rd Subaru and I am still impressed every time.
Anyway, I think the car is an efficient alternative for a long commuter, but if you never take trips and want efficiency then you may want to look at something smaller....read morehide

We have leased a 2001 LL Bean Outback, a 2003 Outback sedan, a 2005 LL Bean Outback, and a 2006 Forester. The 08 Legacy is by far the best built Subaru we have had. Exceptionally good cornering and quitest one yet. There is still too much road noise and too much intrusion of sound coming in from the outside. Either designers at Subaru are deaf or they just do not care. While the car is the quietest yet, it could and should be a whole lot quieter because I still have to play the stereo too loud. Come on Subaru wake up! The front seats are finally comfortable but still could be a tad softer.
From a mechanical, build quality, and road competence point of view it makes you wonder why people are willing to part with an additional 10 to 15 thousand dollars for the European counterparts. And yes, the brakes are the best yet.
More sound absorption please! Lots more!...read morehide

I've been driving this car for a couple months now, up to 4000 miles. Its a fun car to drive, the way it hits the corners are great. I've reached high speeds and its still smooth. The car is built amazing. The dual climate control is great to have. The seats are comfortable. I'm thinking about buying the legacy gt in a few years, to get better performance. No one believes me when I say the car is a 2.5l four cylinder. The cabin space is just the right amount. There isn't a thing I hate about the car. I'll probably have legacys as long as they stay like this. AWD is amazing as well. It's wet outside right now, and I'm excited to go driving....read morehide
