I elected to wait till year end for this review to be written and published for upcoming future buyers. Welcome in advance!!! I was the first owner of Toyota URBAN RUNNER 4WD. I purchased the very first model at the start of 2008 and have just crossed 22K, yes you've read it correct 22,ooo Miles and driving strong like a champ.
I love this trim for its features such as 18 inch wheels, Built in Navi system, Combo seats made of Suede and Leather, Ram Air System. Triple Black Color, No Chrome At all. I call it my Knight Rider. This baby rocks on the road. I've seen many people turn heads in traffic and I've been asked many questions. The compliments recieved are countless.
I purchased mine Brandnew , with 2 miles on it. Till this date I've performed nothing other than the routine oil changes, and replaced the engine air filter.
I work for AA, based at DFW / AFW. I travel alot by road when the flights are full.
When I'm in the Urban Runner, It feels no less than a first class seat to me.
I will be a future buyer of either the 4runner or its superseder.
Take care, More years ahead for this bad boy runner....read morehide

When at a complete stop the rear end seems to kick. Had an 2003 4 Runner and it seemed to do the same thing. Its not really a problem but it is kinda of distrubing when you are just sitting there and it does that. This SUV is a great riding automobile. I really have nothing negative to say about this vehicle. I actually got a great price on this loaded out Limited 4 Runner. I bought it when gas price had hit at $4.00/gal. The dealer was more than willing to deal to get rid of their inventory....read morehide

Overall I really like this SUV. However, at 6'6" I am a bit cramped with the sunroof (losing about 1.4" of headroom), but it is really my wife's car and she fits just fine. I have to move my legs to operate the mirror adjustment and power windows. With the taupe interior, there are 3 major colors in the interior...taupe, black and silver. A little distracting. Wish we would have gotten the gray interior.
The ride is very smooth. The location of the oil filter is the best I've ever seen in any vehicle. Changing the oil will be a piece of cake. The sunroof provides decent airflow without a lot of noise. Very quiet inside with all the windows closed. Solid feel.
Overall we are very happy with our purchase....read morehide

Great value, great suv, easy to handle and looks great on the road. I always drove a Honda but 4Runner is the only Toyota worth changing for.

I purchased the 4Runner because my job dictates I drive over 40K miles per year. I changed the oil every 5,000 miles which is what I was told to do and spent over $1,500 on to have all the fluids changed. Three weeks ago my 4wd low light came on and locked me into 4wd and couldn't get it to turn off. The dealership changed almost every part associated with it while talking to Toyota Japan and can't figure out the problem. They are very good about telling me how certified they are with Toyota and how they are the best. Going on three weeks and they can't figure out what the problem is. Pretty soon after changing out all the parts I'm probably going to have a new car! The bill so far is over $2,200 and they can't figure out what's wrong. I asked for all the parts they are replacing because I'm sure they aren't bad like they are telling me so I can take the parts to an independent lab. In the dealership's defense they gave me a loaner after 3 day's so I could get rid of the rental I was paying for. They offered me $7,500 for it which is also dissapointing. I paid $33,000 for it 3-1/2 years ago and purchased it for it's quality and resale value. I called Toyota's customer satisfaction center and they referred me back to the dealership (what a joke). I have a Tundra limited that I paid $42,000 and it's KBB is $28,000 in 12 months. I'm looking for a new quality auto....read morehide

We wanted to tow a small travel trailer. With the V8 this 4Runner can pull 7000 lbs. No problem. Definitely overkill but then again, I won't have to sweat climbing any mountain passes or picking up highway speeds merging onto the interstate.
We also needed room for occasional extra passengers when family visits (AKA Grand kids). Looked at Crewcab Trucks but you either end up with something way too long or sacrifice with a half size bed that can't haul much at all. If I need to haul anything of size, I have a utility trailer that the 4Runner pulls just fine.
It replaced a 4-door sedan and a full sized pick-up.
Sure it's not fuel friendly. But it does what we got it for and does it in style.
Fit and finish are first rate. We've only had it a month and Toyota has sent 3 different surveys seeking our opinion on every aspect of the buying experience and product quality. No squawks here....read morehide

I've always bought Toyota vehicles and I've never been disappointed. My needs have changed so I now need a larger vehicle to drive around three growing boys and sometimes camping gear. Although gas prices are crazy, I feel the need for space and safety were more important choices for me. And by the way, I kept my 1995 Toyota Corolla for my son who will be driving in a year...and for me to drive occasionally too...it gets great milage and has been a fantastic car!!...read morehide
