At first very happy with car. Then after about six months noticed foul musty odor coming from AC which only gets stronger with time. Taken to dealer 3 times to no avail. All the dealer does is change the filter and spray deodorizer inside the vents. On the 3rd trip to address problem, the dealer said they will have to take down the dashboard! Toyota claims to not be aware of defect despite countless complaints by others online. This AC complaint has been made about other toyota models too. I will be getting rid of this car after just 1 yr because of this problem and a lack of confidence and trust in toyota....read morehide

I have alway loved Toyotas and have been a huge fan for twenty years, but now, unfortunately, my loyalty is over. This Camry is a major disappointment. Transmission problems have been very well documented for a reason. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT!!
Also, the interior quality is terrible. Squeaks and rattles everywhere in the dash, the doors, etc. I will be giving Honda and Nissan a look for the first time ever....read morehide

Lookout Toyota Camry lovers! This car "is not" what it used to be. The constant rattles and squeaks from cheapened materials used in the dashboard assembly will have you annoyed for sure. Go ahead and read the other reports on this car. We all agree. The really poor gas mileage makes me ashamed I thought to believe the EPA stated on the sticker. Toyota tells me "It must be my spirited driving" that contributes to my great loss of gas mileage... They do not seem to care. My previous car was a 05 Corolla and I got almost the MPG posted. The Corolla is far more superior. More precision, more torque and NO dashboard noises. I cannot believe the lack of "feel" towards a higher end car. I am unloadindg my Camry for the Corolla! Read the other reports people. Even in the road tests, these complaints are frequently mentioned. It is a great looking car though... Too bad...read morehide

Disappointingly Toyota has used the cheap plastic material in interior . which make annoying sctrahing noices especially in winter. also some low pitch anoying sound keep on coming on and off. Dealerships attituds has generally be very disrespectful. first they have tough time to give appointments, also failure to recogenize the problem and solve. Car has some jerky start on movement which they told me its becaues of my lead foot habit:(. I also agree that car is slow to respond to pickup. Its my openion!...read morehide

In the three years that I've owned my 2004 Camry I've broken down and needed to be towed off the highway three times, basically for the same problem. If you'd think that this would be so rare for a Toyota that the dealer would be able to make accomodation then think again. Basically it's the same story as when my father bought a lemon from GM in the seventies, they castigate you for not buying the extended warranty and tell you it's your own problem. At 75k miles now and no warranty left I'm hearing grinding from the transmission when I accelerate and I don't even ask why. I bought this car because of Toyota's reputation for quality and it's been a huge disapointment. I've read the reviews from all the other happy Camry owners, so perhaps I'm the exception. Still, don't expect that Toyota's going to treat you any different to the big 3 when they sell you a lemon. And my other car's a 2001 plymouth neon with 200k miles and so far I've done nothing except chage the oil. Go figure......read morehide

The remarks about the poor performance is 100% true. My neighbor brought this car home about 6 mos. ago. It is beautiful. But my, they had horrible problems with the transmission lurching. They kept taking it in to the dealership. They tried to pretend everythin g was fine. I advised her of the lemon law, she called them that afternoon, hadd a new Camry within 2 days. I PROMISE YOU THIS IS TRUE! The new card has been in the shop too, did'nt want to ask about it, still a sore subject....read morehide
