I got nearly 40MPG on highway cross country from East coast to West coast with the car fully loaded and a driver. With 3 adults in the car on a up hill grade on a 4 hour ride, I got @ 37MPG round trip and @ 31MPG city/highway for every day work travel.Being that it's a 4 cylinder, I don't recommend cruise control when going up hill, unless you want to hear what the engine sound like in wide-open throttle. I traded in my 2006 Tundra work truck for this car when the gas price hit @ $4.00 a gallon and a cross country relocation in the plan. I wish they didn't stop making this car, I would've traded in this one for a new model in 2009 or 2010....read morehide

This car is solid--like a tank-- in any kind of weather. I've driven in snow, on icy roads and through gale-force winds and it handles well. My 6'4 brother and his 6'4 wife fit comfortably in the back seats and my ride is the car-of-choice for road trips. In 3 1/2 years I've put 85 k on it and the dealership says its in great condition....read morehide

I BOUGHT MY 2008 SOLARA SE SPORT PACKAGE EXACTLY ONE MONTH AGO, AND SO FAR IT DRIVES LIKE A DREAM. WE TESTED THE HONDA ACCORD COUPE, AND THE NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE FOR COMPARISION BEFORE BUYING THE SOLARA. BOTH OF THOSE CARS LACK THE COMFORT AND THE SMOOTH ACCELERATION FACTORS. ALTHOUGH THEY LOOK A BIT SPORTIER THAN THE SOLARA, BUT NOWHERE NEAR AS SOPHISTICATED. HAVE YOU SEEN THE TAIL LIGHTS OF THE SOLARA? BEAUTIFUL!!!!!THE HANDLING OF THE SOLARA IS VERY GOOD. SO FAR, WE HAVE PUT AROUND 1000 MILES ON IT. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW MUCH BETTER IT GETS AS THE ENGINE GETS BROKEN IN. I DROVE MINE MOSTLY IN THE CITY AND I GET AROUND AN AVERAGE OF 25 MILES PER GALLON, OR ABOUT 380 MILES FOR A FULL TANK OF GAS...NOT BAD AT ALL FOR CITY DRIVING....read morehide
