This big bad puppy will out do anything that the 3 Americas (Ford, Chev and Dodge) can do and then some. Didn't believe it myself until I got in and drove one. That was it, I was hooked!! Other than the stiff ride (which most well endowed women may not like) and some vision restriction (just adjust to that), this is the finest truck I have operated in all my years of owning trucks. Those who complain shouldn't be driving a truck of this magnitude....read morehide

I've had this truck for 6 months now and no problems at all. Those "Good Americans" who complain about foreign cars should start writing better English first of all; and secondly, they should know that Tundras are made in Indiana with not less than 80% North American materials. Having said that, I have to say that this truck is a very nice vehicle, pretty well built and a serious competitor for the three American Car Makers. Of course, gas mileage is not the best, but it is not the worst either. Actually I get around 17 MPG combined and with AC on. I f you are looking for something more than that just buy a Chevy Aveo or a Smart Car. Let's face it, you bought a truck because you need power and cargo capacity to run your business, so the truck is an important asset that helps you to get more income. Do you want more MPG? Just get rid of your heavy foot and you'll be surprised of how much money you've wasted for driving like an "American"...read morehide

I was always under the impression that Toyota was a quality product, so i purchased the 08 SR5 Double, thinking i was getting a truck that would last. I have less than 500 mi. on it and the air bag switch will not turn the side air bags back on. Gas mileage is around 11 mpg in city, Traveling down hills, when it stops at the bottom, the truck will not shift into a lower gear to start out. No dip stick to check transmission fluid, dealer was unaware of this and simply does not care to make the truck right. Called other dealers, as they are some distance from each other and most replied let your selling dealer repair your complaints. My dealer Motorworld of Wilkes Barre, Pa. has very little interest in doing so. So much for Toyota quality and dependability. After owning 12 new American made pick-up trucks, i suggest anyone shopping for a new truck be carefull not to make the mistake i did. Check-up on your selling dealer through Better Business Bureau before purchasing, the truck has some nice features, to make them appealing but trust me they are poor quality and so our some of the dealers. Buy a chevrolet or Ford for dependability....read morehide

I get a kick out of some of the earlier posts about the truck being weak and cannot tow anything. Oh ya...most of the posters cannot even spell...what does that tell you?? Quite the opposite on towing is true. I have had the truck for a year now, and just upgraded to a 27' travel trailer. Believe me...it tows it just fine!! I have been up 6% grades and the truck pulls them at 65 MPH without having to mash the pedal to the floor. Even in 40MPH headwinds it tows the trailer well.
Gas mileage is good too for as big as it is. Last tank to and from work with mixed in town driving was 19 MPG...I did not have to hitch a ride with Howie Long!! Freeway would be 20 MPG or better...how can Chevy even claim they get better mileage with that weak 5.3L engine?
Truck rides great and JBL stereo is awesome too. Try one, you won't be disappointed!!...read morehide

This is the strongest and fastest truck I have ever driven. Almost as strong as a Ford lightening. But it does drink alot of gas, and has some drivetrain vibrations I can't resolve. Honestly Toyota just copied the F-150 and put a stronger engine in it. If you built it bigger doesn't mean it will be better....read morehide

I purchased this truck to tow horses and am very happy with my decision. It's very comfortable to drive & the handling is outstanding with a big trailer hitched up. It has good all round vision, you can load it up to the hilt & it doesn't miss a beat, I LOVE that you can control the gears in low, an excellent feature that has come in very handy on dirt roads out in the boonies. Although it is not 4x4 it handles rough roads very well. Love the truck!...read morehide

I purchased my 2007 Tundra last September and I couldn't be happier since. It is the best combination of all the things I wanted in a truck. I looked long and hard at the Chevy's and Ford's (of which I believe the Ford's were the best alternative),and passed on the Dodge's and Nissan's . I did a months worth of research covering all the full-size trucks and in the end it was the Toyota that seemed the best fit for me.
Reliability was concern #1 for me and according to consumer reports, the Tundra 4x2 was the top rated (by a large margin) for reliability down the road. (Ford's on average were second best buy)
Owner satisfaction was also tops for the Tundra.
Exterior styling was also very important in my decision. I wont be hauling 10,000 pounds around anytime soon but I do want my trucks styling to be a showstopper, and it is. The Ford's and Dodge's were nice also (Chevy and Nissan...what were they thinking?) but the Toyota is easily the nicest around. Also important for me was the fact that you wont see too many of these trucks on the road as compared with other makes. Silverado's are a dime a dozen but you see very few Tundra's driving around.
Resalve value is projected to be better with a Tundra as oppsed to the other makes as well, so it means more return for me (unless gas is 20.00/gal by then and it'll just rot in a driveway.)
I average 17.3 to the gallon (I drive speed limit :) which is more than I expected from a truck this size.
The dampened tailgate is a wonderful innovation but one improvement could be adding a step like the Ford's (F-250's I think)
The interior of the vehicle is woderfully pleasing to the eye. (the Chevy's were the only truck that I thought was "ugly" inside)
I like how Toyota made use of the all the space inside the cab to put plenty of cupholders, storages spaces, etc. You could fit a Civic in the center compartment!
Many morea additions to comment on, bluetooth, ipod adapter, etc..but for the sake of time let me just say that this truck has been everything I wanted it to be and more!...read morehide

I was blown away by the unique styling of this truck when it came out last year. Can't tell you how many times I said, "That's a perty truck!" After Motor Trend gave it the Truck of the Year, I thought for sure it would be unattainable. When I learned I could get a $3K rebate and the dealer was willing to knock another $2,300 off, the affordability for a mid 5-figure income was surprising.
The Timberland Mica paint coupled with ample chrome and black accents is perfect for my taste. The roomy, well appointed cabin is on par with the comfort and convienience offered in trucks costing 1000's more. The towing mirrors are great, giving a full clear view of whats behind you, even if the headrests in the back seat block some of the view in the rearview mirror. The blind spot mirrors make changing lanes and backing-up a breeze. Driving controls took a bit of getting used to, but once you get the layout, everything is right at your fingertips. Storage is so plentiful, I have to think where I put things last time. Energy shortage? Not me - I have 4 power outlets and a 150A alternator.
Toyota really put some thought into making a truck pull a trailer like it's not even back there. With a 381 HP 5.7 liter i-Force engine coupled to a 4.30 10.5" ring gear churning out 401 ft./lbs of torque, the biggest disk brakes availble on a 1/2 ton, ABS, traction control, A/T fluid cooler, class IV hitch and pre-wired for a brake controller there is very little in my world it won't haul there and back - uphill both ways.
MPG? Well, after all, it is a truck & it IS designed to pull. Mileage is just an after thought if your Tahoe hybrid is broke-down on the side of the road with a trailer full of expensive equipment (read: toys) because it couldn't handle the load.
Congratulations Toyota - you are to be reckoned with in the American full-size truck market....read morehide

I just purchased a 2008 Tundra V6 Double Cab and I am very pleased with the purchase. It is amazing some of the great deals that one can find for a full size truck (given the looming $4 gas tag it's to be expected) and with size being an issue for me (6'5", 290 lbs) I had to get a large truck or SUV. The Tundra was actually much cheaper in price than most large SUVs and, with a good resale value and Toyota reliability, the choice was not a hard one for me. I'd been on the market looking for a new vehicle for almost a year and after doing my homework this was the best choice for me. The city fuel economy does leave something to be desired (approximately 16 miles/gallon) as that fuel indicator likes to quickly trickle down toward the E; however, the highway gas milage is pretty good (roughly attaining 20 miles to the gallon). That's to be expected of a large truck. All other issues are minor: a bit too much plastic in the interior, not a lot of leg room in the back of the cab, parking dimensions will be tough to judge by those not familiar with large trucks or SUVs, and options one may want to add can drive up the price of the truck quickly. Overall, I feel this truck was a great buy. With good incentives, a lot of bang for my buck, and a realistic expectation of the vehicle...I feel the Tundra is a smart purchase and a much better buy than a Ford or Chevy. Now, if we could only go back to $1 gas....read morehide
