I bought the car one year ago. Since then I'm in love with it. It drives nice and driving on the highway is a pleasure. When you are in full throttle though the car is very noisy and you can feel vibrations in the wheel. The automatic transmission is too slow when it changes gears and at times is changing the gears wrong.
Despite all the above problems you never feel that the car is cheap. You have the same sensation as you would have in a much bigger car. Good mpgs, but for me not as good as presented before...read morehide

I....love this car. I am 6ft, 3in and 220lbs. I have PLENTY of room. The car gets phenomenal gas mileage and I average 39mpg per tank. I purchased a Scan Meter so I can get instantaneous fuel consumption readings. It's kinda fun as you drive to see how you're doing. It's a very inexpensive, very reliable car. Plain and simple. If you're looking for your car to make you feel good or how others think of you --- go buy a convertible. This is purely a utilitarian vehicle for the masses. The folding seats/hatchback allow for plenty of storage. I brought a sheet of plywood home in it, though it's not recommended (above my head as I drove with the hatchback open). Sure the car tops the list on being gay friendly and I'm the butt of many jokes. Whatever, when $147/bbl oil comes back (and it is, folks) I'll laugh at the gas pump....read morehide

We actually own 2 Yaris's. We had a need for a 2nd car and since we already had a 2007, we went ahead and got a 2008.
Everything is great! The stock sound system is even good. If we needed a 3rd car we would get another.
P.S - The Toyota Dealership in Eugene, OR has been wonderful to work with....read morehide

Have to say this car is good on gas. However its the ugliest weird looking car out there. I mean the lift back, hatch back kind. I got me a toyota yaris but had to get rid of it in 2 years. Just too weird to have the drivers console in middle. It's slow on breaking and very nerdy looking vehicle. I am so happy I got rid of it....read morehide

I love this little baby car... fun to drive... peppy... gets me where I need to go. I am counting on it doing well for several years and then will be able to pass on an excellent used toyota to the next driver! I;m just being careful not to water it because I don't know what it will be when it grows up!...read morehide

I think for the money I paid for this car it is a great economy vechile . I did not expect it to ride like a cadilac. I have gotten 38 miles to the Gallon with mixed driving. So I can over look the bumpy ride.

I've had the car for almost a year now and have put 17,000 miles on it. All I have done is oil changes and aftermarket mods. There are a lot of TRD parts for this car as well as private company parts. Don't believe CR about this car, it's faster than a Fit (do research) and gets better fuel economy (I avg. 32-38 and I have a lead foot). It is from Japan and has been sold overseas for years before coming to the US. If you do your research and compare other driver's reviews, you will find that this is a top rated vehicle by users (again, ignore CR)....read morehide

Bought the car in February '08 to replace an '07 Sentra. Had an '03 Echo before I bought the Sentra. Bought the Sentra because it stated on the window sticker an average EPA estimate of 36 hwy. Didn't think that a loss of 4 mpg from the Echo's average of 40 would effect me too much. Well I never got better than 31 even after 14k miles. A loss of 9 mpg was a huge loss when at the time gas hovered around $3.50/gallon. Every mile counted! 21,500 later in December '08 the Yaris is still running good! Had it lowered with the TRD springs and the windows tinted over the summer. Beware of scraping the air dam on the front bumper if lowered! Never got less than 37 mpg. The best mpg was 50 from Salt Lake City, UT to Bozeman, MT but average 40 like with the Echo. Do mostly freeway driving on interstates 15 and 210 in lovely Southern California. I only use conventional 5W30 oil because I change it with a filter every 3k. Never any issues except if you're driving in Colorado and above a 7,500 ft elevation it's going to feel like you're only running off 2 cylinders. Downshift! Just like the Echo. Toyota needs to do something with the M.A.P. sensor to avoid this issue! (not that I'm an engineer or any sort of rocket scientist). 45 mph max up Vail Pass in 3rd gear is crazy gutless! Seats need more lumbar support and cabin noise could be toned down. Many safety features for an inexpensive car. A.B.S. works well. Recently caught the T.P.M.S. (tire pressure monitoring system) working for the first time when it caught the tires at 26 psi. Just filled up to 33 and the light went off after a couple miles. Got all the options I needed in the "S" trim level. Over-all, I love the car!...read morehide

I love this car. I drive atleast 60 miles a day sometimes 100+ and this car keeps those miles fun. I have no real complaints about it, other than cruise would be nice to have. my friends love it too, they always want to drive it. but please realize this is not a luxury or sports car. it is a very basic car with no frills. it handles well on the freeway and have no problem getting up to speed, or passing other cars. but your not gonna win any races so save the gas and don't try. accelerates better if you don't mash the pedal to the floor. the fronts seats are plenty roomy even for my 6 foot friends. the back seats are decent for a car its size just never fun to get out of, hence the reason for wishing for the 5 door. i have had it 7 months now no issues with it once so ever. i love it. if you want a good dependable inexpensive car get the Yaris, I highly doubt you will regret it....read morehide
