I thought this car was a smoother ride than corrolla. The room inside was very surprising. I drive 60 miles a day 5 days a week and only have to fill up just under every 2 weeks. The advertised mpg was underestimated. I would really like an arm rest but I will survive.

I bought a 2008 Yaris Sedan automatic with a salvage title and to my surprise it runs like a dream (knock on wood). 90% of my driving is done on the HWY and I get 39-40 mpg. Twice I filled up my tank with 10.3 gallons and twice I was able to drive over 400 miles. I absolutely love this car because I only paid 1/2 of the new car value and it performed beyond my expectation for a salvaged car. However, I do have 2 dislikes about the car. I find the seat to be very uncomfortable as it's really designed for a small person. The other problem is the cup holders. They are located just below the air vents. So if you have a tall drink, it blocks the air coming out of the vent....read morehide

I love my Yaris!! This is the first new car I have ever purchased and it is money well spent. It rides great, handles almost as well as my old Acura Integra, although when it is cold it will be rough shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. The gas mileage is better than advertised, and when my speeding bug kicks in this car can really move. The stock sound system is excellent, and I love the fact that everything is in the middle, makes for great night driving as the lights are not blaring back on my eyes. 4 adults rode comfortable in it on a long trip and keeping up with traffic over hills is no problem. I highly recommend this car especially if it is a first car....read morehide

My Yaris does just what I expected - gets good gas mileage, handles well, doesn't have LOTS of room but is adequate -
It took me a while to get used to the center instrument panel, but I like it now. While the car is peppy, it decelerates too much when I take my foot off of the gas pedal. It feels as if the brake is being applied when I lift off the gas.
Overall, I love my Yaris and am so glad I bought it every time I pass a gas station!!!...read morehide

I don't really care much for the speedometer in the center, they could have put more comfortable seats in both the yaris & carolla. It is extremely loud needs better sound proofing but an over all smooth ride. I bought mine the end of may, these prices are $4 - $5000 cheaper. I should have been offered the extended warranty but wasn't....read morehide

Great little car, I've been averaging almost 41 mpg with her and thats with a 4 speed auto, air and highway driving at 75 plus. No problems with her yet, I had her over a year and have 31000 miles on the car. Traded a mid size SUV on the car and only miss the SUV on occassion when I want to go down a dirt road for a ride. Would highy recommend the car, and I'm old enough to remember owning and driving the monsters of the 70's, but would suggest that you wait until the 5 door hatchback is interduced this model year, 2009, to the US market. Would also like to see the 3 cylinder turbo diesel that's offered in europe to be offered her, it gets an average of 80 to 90 mpg....read morehide

Its a good car, its actually my first, although Toyota could have done better... If your looking for fuel economy, make sure you by it with P/window and P/lock, armrest is too small on mine and is hard plastic which is uncomfy...Ive heard you can purchase soundproofing for roadnoise. Bought mine 4 months ago, and spend about $100-120 a month on gas, that is 1200 miles a month. I have made some improvements, bought a K&N Filter, all weather floor mats, as well switched from conventional Oil to Synthetic and added Synthetic Lucas to the Oil. The black interior on mine can be a hassle, you gotta be cleaning it every week or so. Last thing is the drivers armrest on the window side is uncomfy hard plastic and is not wide enough for my arm to be placed comfortably....read morehide

First car I ever had where the MPG on window sticker actually was true. Has plenty of power & fun to drive.

This review may sound silly considering the fact that I ended up getting a Ford Edge.
First of all I'd been driving a 4cyl. 2WD Ranger for a couple years and gas was great. I found myself however dreading the snow like the plague even with weight in the back and decent all-weather tires.
Long story short, I considered a FWD econo-box as a second car that would fill my needs when hauling people or driving in snow.
I looked at the Yaris and discovered that once you start adding even the simplest of options the price gets up there you may as well buy a Carolla. And for the price of a decent Corolla you can get a loaded Focus or Cobalt or take your pick of all the others.
The solution to my problem was to buy a crossover with a tow hitch. I never hauled anything really dirty in my pick-up except a couple of times. I bought a hitch mounted bike rack. And with the seats folded down I have plenty of cargo space and I just flip them back up for passenger room.
Buying a cross-over was a better choice for me and 19/20 mpg is cheaper than two car payments let alone insurance. Depending on your situation high mpg is not always cheaper....read morehide
