The HHR does not wear well once you take it off the lot. The assembly fit is poor and this leads to all manner of noises, squeaks, and controls that don't feel right and it gets worse and worse with time. I think they used cheap materials that just don't last or stand up to usage. Things like the wiper controls broke, a dashboard light went out, the steering has developed a 'grinding' feel to it when you turn the wheel, and the audio system rheostat has a dead zone where it doesn't engage for the first 3/4 of a turn in either direction. The latest problem is the driver side door handle is now loose. I can't recommend the HHR to anyone unless you drive past your dealer on your morning commute and don't mind stopping in for coffee while they work on your latest problem.
