We rented an HHR this weekend in San Jose, and spent three days driving it around town. The unique, stylish body design really helped us find this car in unfamiliar parking lots. The interior was quite comfortable, and the HVAC controls showed a lot of thought went into comfort and ease of use. The power window controls were at the bottom of the center console, though, which took some getting used to. The dashboard itself felt cheap, but featured a convenient cubbyhole in the center with a pop-up door.
This car felt sluggish on the highway, but we still got around just fine. Wind wasn't an issue for the HHR.
My daily driver is a Nissan Versa, known for its big windows. So, the HHR's small windows and thick pillars made me feel like I was trying to drive while looking through a keyhole, but I got used to it eventually. Visibility through the rear window was great.
