While I am an admitted "Dodge guy", I did look at the other manufactures when upgrading from my '00 Dakota. Nothing else seemed close, even the new Ford. After driving the new Ram for 3 months now I still love it more every day. The idea of getting close to 16 mpg in town with this kind of power is unbelievable. The ride and comfort is on par with any of the luxury suvs my wife has test driven. Monumental leap forward for Dodge!...read morehide

this is my 6th Ram since 02 and it's the best one yet. I love everything about it. I towed my snowmobile trailer loaded and couldn't even tell it was behind me. 4wheel drive is great and inside features are awesome. The ride to the dealer in my 08 and the ride home in the 09 was like I was in a totally different league and comfort was great. Cabin noise levels are really cut down. Great truck....read morehide

Bought the truck in February in Chantilly, VA, we really love it. Took it on a 500 mile trip this last weekend and ended getting close to 19 mpg traveling at least 75 mph all the time. Not bad for 390 horses. We love the nav package, one of the most user friendly units we've used and the hard drive is a cool feature that lets us download our music and not bother with CDs. The 110v electrical outlet and the USB port are great features as well. We haven't used the integrated bluetooth or garage opener yet, but they should work great based on what we've seen so far.
The ride is fantastic. We traded in a 2006 Dodge Ram and wow, what a difference. This is a whole new class of truck. More truck for the money than either Ford or Chevy, in our minds. Good job Dodge....read morehide

Bought this truck brand new and love it. It fits all 6 of us more comfortably than our mini-van. It rides smoother than many luxury cars I've driven and I used to work for a Lincoln dealership. We bought the crew cab so I'm not sure how we're going to haul the 4 wheeler AND the camper at the same time but we'll figure something out. It's a fantastic truck and we looked at and drove all of the other ones before buying this one....read morehide

I thought my 2004 dodge SLT would be the last truck I would own. After a drunk driver changed all that, my wife said she would only ride in a new truck. After researching what was in store for the '09 dodge - the answer was made simple. We now own the decked out Laramie for $31k. Best deal from Nebraska (Woodhouse) - delivered to Texas.
4x4, ventilated/heated seats, heated steering wheel (insane that it took this long to come up with something so comfortable), in floor storage for tools, beverages, diapers, etc....rides high on 20's - will need to invest in side-step bars...dumbest thing I didn't do was to opt in for the ram box...thought it was a stupid gimmick (boy was I wrong). The dual exhaust is designed into the rear bumper and the exhaust gives you enough of a throaty sound to make people take notice...The hwy mileage will get to 20-21mpg if you can stand setting the cruise control at 65mph or lower. Almost forgot to mention the Alpine sound system...better than any big box store can do...Almost forgot to mention the on-board computer that can rip songs off a friends CD in 5 minutes...oil change intervals have been increased (some dealers will push every 3000 miles, but wouldnb't you if you worked at a dealership)...If you have had a Dodge in the past forget what you knew...this is the new standard. Hope you read about how Nissan is stopping production of the Titan to redovelop in the Dodge's shadow......read morehide

Tows more than the tow ratings state. Power is scary strong. Almost has too much power. haha kidding. I was looking at the new F150 but once I drove the Ram I couldn't resist. The Ram had more power and could tow the same if not more than the F150 or Chevy trucks.

I purchased my Jet Black 2009 Ram 1500 SWP Sport with the optional Big Horn Package two weeks ago in Fredricksburg, VA. I was originally in the market for a Ford F-150 but the price value and incentives offered on the Ram were too good to pass up.
After two weeks of daily driving and over 1000 miles, I am absoulutely in love with my Ram and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The redesigned styling of the 09 Ram is a pure head turner. I love the 20 inch chrome wheels and sport duel exhaust as well as the updated dash and cockpit layout. The fit and finish on this truck is far superior to both the F-150 and Silverado and the power of the 390 HP 5.7 liter HEMI is ridiculous. The addition of rear coil springs gives the truck a smooth luxury SUV type ride.
I opted for the full size quad cab and my three kids fit comfortably in the back seat without cramming eachother. The driver and passenger seats are both very comfortable with multiple seating positions. The center console is huge and functional with plenty of cupholders and nooks and crannies throughout the cabin.
All the great fit and finish details are impressive, but the feature that sealed the deal for me was the throw you back in your seat smooth performance of the 390 HP Hemi. It's hands down the best gas engine on the full size truck market today and is in a league of its own.
While my gas mileage has been averaging around 14-15 city and 17-18 highway, I was able to get a tad over 19 mpg during a recent 150 mile highway trip using my cruise control at 65 mph. Not great, but not bad either for a 390 HP full size truck.
The other incentive that made my Ram purchase an easy one was the lifetime engine and powertrain warranty offered by Dodge. Now as long as Chrysler doesn't go belly up, that lifetime warranty will give me great piece of mind.
Lastly, I think it's incredibly important to buy American right now if you are in the market and can afford a new vehicle. I was treated very fairly by the Dodge sales team and feel good about doing my part to support the U.S. auto industry....read morehide
