This is my 5th diesel pick-up. I was always strictly a chevy man until I decided I wanted a diesel. At that time GM's diesel wasn't the best choice and I had been burnt bad by a ford lemon so decided to try a dodge. It was great! good economy, good power and aside from some handling problems was a very good unit. I put close to 200,000 miles on it with no problems other than a rear axle seal and a wheel bearing. It was a bit noisy and I was in the market for a new truck. I had forgot about my ford lemon and went for that trap again. Every one raved about their ford diesels.I bought one and soon remembered why I didn't buy a ford the first time. The power was about equal, the noise was a bit better it rode worse and the economy was much worse. It didn't start as well in cold weather.Plus it seemed I got to visit my ford dealer very regularly due to anything and everything going wrong.I had this unit about 80,000 miles and wanted out in the worst way. Dodge had quieted the noise a bit by this time but still was too noisy and GM came out with the new diesel so I being a chevy guy thought this was it! It wasn't, it was better than the ford...but very little. It had more power, but you paid for it in the mileage department.Had many small problems with this one, put about 75,000 miles on it and went back to Dodge. I wondered why I ever left. By then the dodge power was even more awesome, it was quieter, got great milage, had no handling problems and it never went back once for repairs. It served me flawlessly for over 300,000 miles and to my knowlege is still going. I purchased my latest Dodge and the power is again increased, the noise decreased. The economy is still great.Running empty I can get close to 22mpg pretty consistently. It rides as well as can be expected from what it is....a "Heavy Duty Work Truck" I have close to 100,000 miles on this one and it has been trouble free and a pleasure to drive. I would own no other pick-up....read morehide

I LOVE this truck. It fits our whole family of 6'+ adults with leg/head/shoulder room to spare. Quiet, smooth ride. Gas mileage isn't great, but considering the size and power of this vehicle, it could be much worse. I highly recommend this truck if you plan on driving more than 2 full size adults in a truck....read morehide

Best DIESEL truck I have owned! The initial cost is expensive (expect to pay around 50K plus, depending on options) ~ BUT, if you plan on keeping this truck a long time (over 4 years), this the way to go -- I have a 2003 quad cab, 4x4, diesel with almost 200K and have did nothing except replace tires three times, ball joints once, and routine maintenance. The engine runs just as smooth and powerful with 200K as it did new. I am told these diesel engines, properly maintained with recommended oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter changes (which I do myself in less than 30 minutes every 10,000 miles) should get at least 500,000 miles before needing any serious maintenance. It is true so far!
The new diesel is much quiter than those in the past (thanks to the common rail fuel injection introduced in 2003), fuel economy is 18-21 (great for a 2500, 4 wheel drive, quad cab), and excellent responsive handling. The truck is more than roomy enough for 4 adults over 6 foot tall, and still room for a couple weekend bags and small coolers. The engine is powerful and fast thanks to the turbo charger (when the turbo kicks in, it will BURN the tires). The largee fuel tank means around 600 miles between fill-ups, tows a 24 foot car hauler with incredible ease, stereo system is great, cup holders nice!
Plenty of storage in the compartment between the front seats, and under and behind the rear seats.
I had an equivalent (Dodge Ram 4x4 Quad) truck with the gas engine --- never got over 13 mpg (and around 9 towing)! This diesel is well worth it's cost if you plan on keeping it for a long time --- it will, in all probability, outlast any other vehicle you own or have owned!...read morehide

this truck is excelent weither you want the hemi for towing or pulling up to an f150 /silveraldo and smoking them off the line.......lol i am sorry i get carried away i wouldnt trade this for any one of them..... the ride inside is like driving a cadillac .........chevy boast they can get more mileage but we all know that it is not more that 2 miles per gallon so if your are like me and not willing to sacrifice the power for 2 miles a gallon then this truck is for you...read morehide

Gas mileage is better than previos models. Emissions are low too. This truck can tow just about anything you put up against it. They were correct with sayin Dodge is up for any challenge.

First New truck I ever owned, it is awesome makes the job of moving 3 Kids, and all their stuff a breeze while still bringing the dogs along and hauling a horse trailer! Around the family farm it hauls everything and hasn't hesitated in a muddy field or on a mountain trail yet. Dodge did it right with this truck. recommend they stay with the full 6 foot bed if this is too much truck for you then go find an old Chevy Luv. Dodge is unbeatable!...read morehide
