I bought it in October of last year. When I bought it I was specifically looking for one with a manual transmission. The only complaint I have is that it could use a 6th gear to help with acceleration. Ford remedied this in the 2010 by giving it a 6 speed manual transmission. I have already put over 15,000 miles on it, and I have loved every minute of it. I have never had a car that was more fun to drive. I have driven this car on almost every kind of road that this car should be driven on and probably a few that it shouldn't, and it has lived up to my expectations and beyond. It is very comfortable. I drove it to California (2200 miles) for work sleeping in the car in rest areas on the way to save a few bucks. I basically lived in this car for three days, and the seats were comfortable enough that I woke up refreshed every morning. During the trip, the worst gas mileage for one tank was 29.5 MPG. The best was 38 MPG. I drove this car down route 1 in California from San Francisco to Los Angeles. It is a very hilly curvy road (on one section of it there is a sign that says dangerous curves next 83 miles). It hugged the curves and gripped the road very well. I was a little hesitant at first, but once I got a feel for the car and the road, it was a very exhilarating drive to say the least. Coming back to Illinois from LA, my wife and I travelled part of old route 66 through California, Arizona, and New Mexico. Some of those roads have been so poorly maintained that they are not much more than rubble, but this car took them in stride and kept going. As far as the stereo goes, I only have the 4 speaker version (ford offers a 7 speaker version in this one and a 12 speaker version in the 2010), but it is still very loud. It's not just the volume though. It is very clear and crisp. On some songs I can hear notes that I never heard before on other stereos. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a small family car that gets good gas mileage, but still has enough zip to be fun....read morehide

Higher quality than any other Ford I have owned. (3)
Paint job is very smooth and overall like a luxury sedan in quality.
Cool interior, since it does not have the look of Japanese design. Very big interior. safe feeling and soft and cushy. Standard Sound System is Excell.
High MPG as advertised on REGULAR gas.
I have a new April 2007 SE and only have changed the oil.
NO problems or complaints.
Top-shelf wheels and tires...read morehide

I really, really like this car. I was a bit concerned about its acceleration initially, but I just took it on its first long road trip and the performance was great (note that I also have the model with the smallest engine). It's also super-comfortable and pretty good-looking over all. The stereo system I got rules....read morehide

Wanted to buy my wife a vehicle that A-is produced by an American Company, B- A vehicle that is safe, C- Good MPG performance, D- Enough reserve power and tight handling in city and on highway.
After driving the Fusion (owned since November 08 and it's April 09 now) we've received 27 MPG on highway (Automatic Transmission) and averaged 24 combined MPG, which outperforms the sticker estimate. When reserve power is needed, the vehicle gives us enough power to get you out of any potentially dangerous situation.
The only con is the cruise control configuration, specifically the raised bumps on the buttons. Logically, to me anyway, the bumps should have been on the "ON" and "SET" buttons as opposed to where they are now. Other than than, the only CON is...um....nothing.
Looking forward to buying a 2010 Hybrid Fusion now!!!...read morehide

Wow. I was blown away when I test drove this car for the first time. Rides as smooth and quiet as my Lexus GT400 did. If I were going to design a car to get me from here to there this is exactly what I would have come up with. I bought the 4cyl 160hp S model and I was surprised at the way it zips around. You'd think it had a 6cyl under the hood. Also, visability is excellent front and sides. This is one great car for the money AND I got $6k off the MSRP to boot!...read morehide

This vehicle was purchased for my wife. We considered several other models and definitely got the best deal on this car. We also found it to be one of the most comfortable and best looking in its class. We actually went from a Mercedes C Class to this car after being thoroughly disappointed with the quality. We were constantly in the shop fixing something. She is very satisfied with the Fusion to this point....read morehide

I bought the Fusion S w/ 5 spd-AT three days ago. I simply love this car's ride, handling and quietness. The controls for CD, cruise, and A/C units are very easy to use. The car is extremely quiet; low wind and tire noise at 70 mph on the freeway. The 2.3 liter engine is more than adequate to propel the Fusion during daily commutes. If you love speed and hard acceleration, opt for the V6. I am extremely glad I came across Fusion S during my car window-shopping phase. Otherwise, I would have ended up spending thousands more on a comparably equipped Toyota Camry, Honda Accord or Saturn Aura. Overall, I am very satisfied with my Fusion S and would highly recommend it to anyone....read morehide

Overall a great value. With the current ford rebates, this beats out all others in its class as far as price goes. The 4 cyl engine seems a bit unrefined. Suprisingly it gets less gas mileage and less HP than the 2.4 and 2.5L engines found in its competitors. The 2010 model coming out is supposed to get better gas mileage....read morehide
