Nice looking, with a big truck feel.Would never guess it has a V-6.

We bought this truck to have when we went to nursery, home improvements stores or just needed to haul something. We love it but try not to drive it too much as gas is so expensive. If you plan on pulling something, get the V-8. The 6 is fine for my needs, but the 8 has 100 more HP with about the same mileage....read morehide

always nice looking trucks from GMC /CHEVY. hopefully there piston slap problem is no longer an issue that it is with the previous body style trucks. also the the ancient, but good, 4.3 V6 and the 4.8L v8 were mentioned only. are the 5.3L still available? i noticed the performance of the 4.8 is now close to 300hp which is where the previous 5.3 motors performed. the v8 motors are plenty snappy in acceleration but all the manufacturer's now are at or above 300hp for gas powered, full size trucks now a days ,so im surprised the gas mileage hasnt improved any. the v6 is rated at 15mpg which makes it almost pointless to choose over the V8, not to mention the v6 kills resale value. . this is true even for the late and OBS trucks engines as far as mileage and resale. overall GMC AND CHEVY make good trucks... as long as the piston slap and cold start noises have been fixed and not just band-aided. i have owned a 91 gmc ext cab, two 95 chevys (tahoe and s10), and currently own a 99 gmc jimmy and 01 ext cab silverado. that being said, i would probally buy one of these makes again....read morehide

This is the first truck I've owned and as a result of the great experience I'll probably stick with the GMC Sierra 1500 for future truck purchases too.
