I completely agree with Michael (above). I have owned my coupe for a year and a half. I got the LX with a sunroof upgrade. This is a great little run-around car. I took it from MD to GA and back with no problems. It is so comfortable that I was able to drive straight through with only one short break.
The stereo system is excellent for being stock. And it is completely untrue that the audio is drowned out by road noise! It is not a quiet car, but that is grossly overstating it.
Excellent mileage. Super cute. Low maintenance....read morehide

I have a 2008 Honda civic EX-L with nav. My parents got me this car my junior year of high school and i couldn't be happier. I have a galaxy grey exterior (which they unfortunatly discontinued for 09) and a grey interior. I'll start off with the few i do not like on the car. I live in south Florida and the seats and interior can defiantly get to scorching hot temperatures where i have to roll down the windows with the ac on and let the car cool off sometimes before i get in. This normally only happens when my car is siting in the sun for more than three to four hours though, and i also already have tinted windows which defiantly help but are no match for the huge windshield. Occasionally when i am driving there is also a very annoying rattling noise that can come from the back passenger side dash. It can also vibrate and sound cheep too if i turn a song up loud with heavy bass occasionally. The only other bad thing about the car would have to be the drivers seat not having power in the fully loaded model. passenger seat i can understand but having just basic power seats for the driver would be nice for $24,000. Now to the good things.
Everything else in general on this car i love. the seats are comfartable for city and highway driving and the sound system is very good and the ipod connection and sd slot behind the nav work very well. The nav itself always works very well and easy to use and input things into quickly. The trunk is big enough to fit anything i have neede to put in the car so far and the back seats also fold down completely too if more room is needed. Gas mileage is great and exceeds epa estimates while still driving fast. Handling is very tight and responsive and very comfortable but still sporty. People who have reviewed it as being very noisy are right at first, but after realizing most of the noise was tire and road noise, i went and got a new set of tires at 20,000 miles (oem bridgestones were junk). I purchased a set of General altimax Hp's which are a softer tire but have a very solid steering feel and are quiter than any other tire i have herd by far. Now the noise issue is no more and the audio system sounds better too with less background noise now to have to hear over. Everything else has been great though with no problems so far and i have 27,000 miles so far. Always get compliments on the car and backseats are also comfortable too if your under six feet tall. Hope this review was somewhat helpfull for interested buyers....read morehide

Ride is noisy and when hitting a bump feels like shocks are worn. Austin to Atlanta and back averaged 39.5 mph. In town about 28.5. Better than I expected.

I desperately want to trade my 2009 Civic in. The dash rattles like one might expect from a 12- or 15- year old car, and the dealer is unable to cure the problem. I feel like I'm caught in an echo chamber when rain hits the car roof. I cannot ride in the car for more than 40 minutes without feeling uncomfortable; there is zero lumbar support. The nav system has misdirected me. The display for the auxiliary audio (iPod) is also unreliable. It sometimes gets hung up when I search for a song, or displays information about a song other than the one that it is currently playing. On the positive side, it does get good mileage....read morehide

Have had this Civic now for 6 months. The car has so much going for it, I'm continually impressed. How really nice and un-Detroit that the low end Honda model is so very nicely done. It's a "qualified" 5 stars for this car.
A friend recently mentioned to me that he always reads negative reviews first; sometimes they're just rants, but usually there's some thought in them. I need not add to the huge and accumulating pile of positives, so let's just skip to the other side, in order of offence.
The automatic's downshifts are a problem when you want to apply power hard and quickly. The situation where this comes into play is a common one: the merge onto interstate. It shifts down too low too readily. Scare you to death at first; the engine's overreving and you're not accelerating. I learned quickly to take it easy. Also, I worked out that it's helpful to manually shift to D3 when you need power - lets you regulate the gas pedal pretty effectively. Only 4 stars for "Performance" because of this; otherwise, it's really excellent.
Communication. You never see this aspect in car ratings. I mentioned the transmission issue to the dealer service writer on first check up. Response? a) yes, they all do it, b) there's no adjustment, c) that's the way 4-cyls are (certainly, that is not true). Might as well have been talking to the wall. I consider it an important matter and the topic went nowhere; they'll happily install accessories for you though. You get lots of Honda 'customer opinion' polls coming in, but not one has a box for actually writing in something that matters to you.
The headlights are barely adequate in a thick fog situation. Yes, this is typical in a very low car such as the coupe. There is a fog light kit in the acccessory catalog; when I priced it interest faded. Many other cars have them standard.
The front seats could use a touch of lumbar support or a lumbar adjustability feature. They're pretty darned good seats, but it gets to be an issue on long trips. Maybe it's just me, but, minus 1 star for "Comfort".
The trunk latch hangs invisibly down from the lid, and I usually bump my forehead on it when reaching in there. I'm learning.
I find the tiered dash works well for me, it's not a big deal at all. The issue? Cruise control indicators should be in the upper tier where the speedometer reading is. And, who needs that giant tach?
Audio system is a dream, with one exception - fm sensitivity is weak.
Well, that's my bad list.
With such a short a service history, I cannot rate "Reliability"....read morehide

I have had my Civic EX for a year and a half and it has been a great car. I have averaged 37 mpg overall doing mostly highway driving. My only complaints are the road noise which can drown out the stereo at times and the lack of engine power during acceleration. Still, this is an economy car so sacrificing some power for fuel economy is expected.
I love the dash layout with the speedometer just below the windshield. The trunk is huge for such a small car and the interior has lots of storage bins....read morehide

I am a 6' 1" adult and have no trouble fitting inside this small coupe. Any taller than me, I wouldn't buy it. The stereo in this car is probably one of the best stock stereos you can find in a car this price (it includes a subwoofer and usb hook-up, which can connect an ipod or flash drive). The ride is not that noisy, and the review saying you can't hear the stereo over the ride is ridiculous. The new front grilles add a sporty edge to it and I believe this car will last me a long time. Though, have not yet driven it in the snow, which might be troublesome....read morehide

This 2008 coupe is fun to drive, quick with the manual trans, steady at highway speeds (65+), sporty, great sound system, many options including sunroof, no complaints, just keep changing the oil every 3750 with no problems. Great dollar value for what the owner gets.
