This car has great economy, looks good and rides well for the price. So far I would buy another one. Metal is too thin on the nose as small dents occur after being on a gravel road. Arm rest covers should be not be covered with cloth as they will soil easy.

Only city driving so far. Averaged 37; 41.2; 42.3 and 44.58 MPG on the first 4 tanks of gas. It has gotten progressively better as the engine has broken in. I will be driving it 300 miles to Tampa for its first Highway Test in two weeks. I am hoping to get over 50 MPG.

My husband and I wanted a 4 door car with leg room and a trunk. The Civic Hybrid does not feel boxy like the Prius. It has that solid Honda feel. We mostly drive in town and are down to 38 mpg but we are using the AC all the time in plus 100 degree heat. In the spring we were getting 42 mpg. We feel we are helping the environment and riding - for us - in luxury!...read morehide

My husband and I bought the Honda Civic Hybrid in April. We loved how quiet of a ride it was and how much sportier it looked than other hybrids. The total price for our car was $22,000 including taxes and fees.
We just returned from a three-week trip in Northern California. We drove 2200 miles and spent a grand total of $157 on gas!!! (And that's with our car packed with 2 adults, 2 kids, a dog, and all of our luggage).
The only downside was that the car is not really powerful on hills--and driving from Las Vegas (our home) to Northern California means driving up and down lots of mountains.
Overall, I love our new little car. We already have a 2000 Honda Odyssey with 88,000 miles, so I'm confident in the quality that Honda is known for....read morehide

Very happy with my Hybrid, and my dealer Cardinal Honda in Groton CT.
I feel this car will start up every time and get me there with good fuel consumption.

I bought this car for fuel economy and I am very disappointed with the MPG. Honda advertises this car at 45 MPG but I average at 38 MPG. Extremely poor performance and I would not recommend this car for anyone. For the money it costs there are more powerful cars with almost the same MPG. I should have done my homework before buying it. Please shop around before buying this car....read morehide

Had this car for a few weeks. Less than 300 miles on it and I am already getting super mileage. 44 mpg during a thirty mile trip on the interstate at 65 mph. Drove back home on two lane country roads at 45 - 50 mph. Mileage topped out at a super 48.1 mpg. Mileage will likely get better as the motor gets broken in and when I change the oil to a synthetic. It is fun to drive but it is NOT for someone who wants to drive fast. But as gas prices rise I am feeling no pain. This is my 6th Honda and my favorite of all of them....read morehide

Bought on Earth day actually and I love this car!
I went from a 2006 Civic EX to this 2009 Hybrid.
I also went from getting around 300-350 miles a tank to now getting 500-600 a tank, and it even has a smaller gas tank! My average MPG is at 51. I have around 3000 miles on it now.
I do not find that is accelerates slowly, it is actually quite zippy, however, if you are already at speed and then hit a hill...it can be hard to maintain speed and keep your fuel economy up.
As for road noise, it was the same for my older civic, and since I listen to the stereo...doesn't bother me at all.
The interior is still a great design with the digi-speedometer that is fantastic.
The exterior gets a refresh and it's nice and more sharp I think.
Overall, I would recommend this car any day and as for a hybrid...it is of course a lot sharper than the Prius and still delivers roughly equivalent fuel economy....read morehide

I purchased my Civic Hybrid new in 08. I now have close to 18000 miles on it having driven it to Arizona and back. I could not be more pleased with this car. I will most likely stay with Honda in the future. Already have my eye on the new Insight.
