This is my 4th civic over the years. Each one has been better than the previous version. New off the lot I'm getting 32-33 mpg and my experience is that the mileage will increase by 2-4 mpg over the 1st 5,000 miles. You can't go wrong with a civic - they will last 200,000 miles with very little maintenance...read morehide

The Civic Sedan has lots of power since I put in a K&N Filtercharger. There's plenty of trunk space along with several cubbie holes for storage. Honda's penchant for quality shows here. No squeaks or rattles, anywhere. Gas mileage is about what I expected, 36 hwy, 27 combined. Smooth aerodynamics cuts down on outside wind noise.Very tight little car with lots of interior room. You can take a long trip in this car and not feel cramped. It rides very well for a small car,.but don't expect a real soft ride as you do feel the road, but not harshly. Handling is crisp. Braking is very good. ABS is standard, which gives you a good feeling. The heads up speedometer, fuel and temperature digital gauges keeps your eyes on the road for safety, nice touch....read morehide

This is my second Honda Civic (I recently traded my 2006 for the 2009). I like the styling of the 2009. The 2009 doesn't provide as good of gas mileage as the 2006 (perhaps when I get it broken in). My dealer said the run the car until 15% showed on the oil minder before I had the first oil change----I have checked with several Honda service departments and most say to change it at 5,000 miles (there doesn't seem to be consensus as to when to change the oil).
I wish the emergency brake could be moved from its present position since it gouges my right leg. I also wish the front arm rests were covered with another material since the cloth has a tendency to wear and show age. It would be nice if the back seat would fold in two sections [as the Ex. model does]instead of the entire seat back folding. All in all, I'm very satisified with my new 2009 Honda Civic....read morehide

Purchased this new, after having to get rid of my 1996 Odyssey. LOVED MY ODYSSEY, but no longer needed a minivan. LOVE the car EXCEPT for the extremely uncomfortable driver's seat and the headrest that pushes the head into an awkward forward position. If I were 3-4 inches taller, it would probably be fine, but at 5'5", it's horrible. Have read TONS of blogs/reviews where 09 Civic owners are upset with this same thing and not one of us has gotten any satisfaction from Honda Corp. or the dealers!!! Why don't they change the headrest design? They've gotten complaints for over 2 years (wish I had known this before buying my car!!!) Can't see the hood of the car, either, which can cause a little bit of an issue when parking the car....read morehide

Just about the ideal car for its class so don't expect much luxury nor sport, just a car to take you from A to B with ease and no hassle. This is an economy car and that's what you get. But it is put together rather nicely. Exerior is more stylish than most in its class though can't say that for the dash which is just horrid. It rides comfortably and it's easy to drive. As expected, fuel economy is excellent and you get quite a bit for what you pay. Compared to the Corolla which I spent a week in as a rental, the Civic feels roomier and if the Civic feels like an economy car, the Corolla feels several notches below, whatever that may be. But the Civic drives better, and seems to be more car than the Corolla.
If you want a simple means of transportation that's easy to own and offers some good advantages over others in its class and you can get past the horrible dashboard, the Civic is a great choice....read morehide

I actually purchased a 2008 but it is essentially the same car. There is absolutely NO way to get comfortable driving this thing! The parking brake could not be any more poorly positioned! I have constant pain in my right knee from where the handle digs into it. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of this car in the fall and getting into something that fits better. I used to drive a Jeep Wrangler and felt less beat up after driving it on long trips than I do with my Civic....read morehide

A superbly engineered car of very high quality that has a few faults. What do you expect in a $17,000 car, Rolls Royce performance? The only time this car goes into the shop is to have oil changes. 30mpg in town and 40 on the road.

I have had this car for one month now, and have put over 2000 miles on it. I was suprised of the fuel economy of this car, even during the cold Minnesota below zero winter temps.( -20/-45 Wind chill) I was able to acheive 34 miles per gallon on highway. I would anticipate that it will be better during the summertime. I do not have any problems starting the car at -30degF. I am impressed of the car performance for the value we paid for it. Based on the consumer reports, I would expect this car to be fairly reliable and would recommend it to anybody who is looking for a commuter car to work....read morehide
