Bought new in May 2009. Now has 6200 miles on it.
This is a great little in town car. Easy to park, easy to drive, and easy on the pocket book. Love the instant MPG feature on the dash, though it overstates by about 4 MPG compared to actual MPG. Also enjoy this feature on our Jaguar XJ6. Fit gets much better milage, but has a much, much worse ride than the Jag. Turning the A/C on really degrades the fuel economy on the Fit. I get about the same gas mileage in town as I do on the highway (42 MPG). My wife gets 34 MPG in town and around 40 on the highway. Think the A/C on cut these numbers by 20% for me. Took the car on a 2400 mile road trip shortly after we got it. It did fine at speeds of 75 MPH+, but you felt every bridge expansion joint. Got around 45 MPG on that trip.
Honda engineers did a good job on the passenger compartment. Has a zillion cup holders, easy to access controls, and plenty of room for super sized driver and passenger. I weigh close to 300lbs (darn it). A nephew of mine who is 6'5 also owns a 09 Fit and reports that he has plenty of leg and head room. That wasn't the case with most of the other cars he and his family of 4 looked at.
Has an incredible amount of storage capacity with the rear seats folded up. Have only need the extra room once though. Room enough in the back for 2 large people on a short trip. Has plenty of power for me so I gave it 5 stars for Performance. Haven't had any problems so far so also gave the same rating on Reliability. You can decide on your own what the value is. The high Overall Rating reflects how well this car meets my needs for a economic, fuel effecient, small car for city driving.
What the heck is up with no center console? It needs it. I will be ordering an aftermarket one for the Fit in the near future.
CAR IS GOOD FOR: The person wanting an economic in town car, or a car with extra cargo capacity.
CAR IS BAD FOR: Those doing a lot of highway, or even rough road driving. "BAD" is a little harse, but you might keep in mind that this car can be rougher than a cob on the road.

Nice riding vehicle that delivers 36mpg with a mixture of city and highway driving. Everything works well always. More comfortable seats would be nice. It has guts but is no turbo-charged hemi.

I adore my car. I've had it for 2 months and it's the perfect car for where I live (DC). I can park it anywhere, plenty of room for trips to IKEA and more comfortable than my Infiniti Sedan was on my long torso 6' 1" frame. It really is unbelievably roomy, like an optical illusion. I swear it has more interior room than my buddy's Jeep Liberty SUV.
The car is a blast to drive. Nimble and peppy enough for city driving. Could use a few more HP on the interstate, but with the manual transmission it's more than adequate. I wouldn't bother with an automatic transmission.
My only knocks are the name, "Fit", it just sounds girly. I got a few chuckles from friends when I told them what I bought, they changed their tune when they saw the car. If there was an Si version with about 200hp, a sunroof, and leather, I would buy it in a second. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm very happy with my purchase....read morehide

It's a small hatchback, feels like a "mini suv", so you feel every road imperfection, bump, pot hole, etc., which should be expected with this type of car. Haven't had to use the a/c, so can't comment on that; haven't used the heat yet, either. I am concerned about how the Fit will handle in the Northeast winter snowstorms, even with the paddle shifting. Previous Accords did not handle well in over 6 inches of snow. Blown away by the gas mileage, between 35-45 mpg, combined city/hwy driving (yes, automatic!). Really needs window tinting, even just the top quarter/eighth of the windshield. No locks for glove compartment nor hatch. Would love to have a sun roof, even if it was half the size of the other Hondas. First hatchback in over 30 years and so far, so good. No shortage of cup holders; found 8 in my Fit. Recommend the test drive; it's what sold me....read morehide

THIS IS MY 2ND FIT. I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISON JUST 3 MONTH'S AGO. THE AIR BAGS AND CRUSH ZONE IN FRONT.....KEPT ME FROM SERIOUS INJURY. A FEW BUMPS AND BRUISES AND KNEE FROM SURGERY EARLIER THIS YEAR. I'LL DO A COMMERCIAL FOR THE HONDA FAT ANYTIME.
HEAD ROOM; STORAGE SPACE, POWER AND GREAT RIDE. ON TOP OF SUPER MILEAGE....read morehide

I am 6'1' and weigh 240 lbs which means I am big. I fit in this car very well and the seats are very comfortable. It feels like your in a much bigger car,but when you get out you realize its not that big! The gas mileage is very good.

for the money its really decent, the good fuel econ and spacious interior are a great plus for it, the only real complaints are the body style and all the windows make it a hot car on those summer days, and the front bumper is low also. i have yet to see how it handles in the winter but wouldn't be surprised if it can handle mild winter conditions....read morehide

We bought this after checking out the Versa, XB and Matrix. Super fun to drive and really comfortable, even for long trips. I am 6'3" and this has headroom left over, even though you are sitting up higher, almost like you might in a minivan. Great visibility, and easy to manuver in parking lots, very easy to get in and out with low rockers and wide doors (esp for a 4 door! We recently took it on a 6 hr+ trip to NYC. We averaged 41mpg with the automatic! Of course, it's a honda so controls are well laid out. Seats and trim have a solid quality feel to them. Versatile seat configurations make this a great family car- we can fit everything we need for a weekend trip to my parents in the Fit! We fold up one half of the rear seat and our big old dog can get in and ride easily. Unless you have 3 kids, this is plenty of car! Please sit in one on the lot, you will be pleasantly surprised....read morehide

Although the sport model was quite a lot more than the base, I chose it because it had remote locking, cruise control and of course it looks really cool. The magic seat is a really nice feature too which gives a spacious cargo area. It feels pretty roomy for a small car ( the Tardis effect). The gas mileage is good but not as good as the European version.
I'm not an aggressive driver so I haven't used the paddle shifters and they're kind of a nuisance because they get in the way when I'm turning the wheel fully around. The front scoop looks cool but is pretty low and a family member has already caught it on a curb and popped it out so now I tend to be extra careful driving over bumps, dips, etc.
I'm fine with the interior except for a couple of things, I need more padding on the arm rests for my bony elbows and the odometer is in a really tacky housing that looks like an afterthought that was bought from a dollar store. And finally I wish it was a plug in hybrid....read morehide

Virtually trouble free after 10 mos. small turning radius makes it easy to park, U-turn. Great mileage, could be a little peppier on big hills. moved 750lbs of freight in it with plenty of room to see out the windows. miss my 96 camero but so glad to have this car. easy hatch-back with rings to clip my dog's leash for daily dog-park visits. easy to clean, seats move out of the way.my i-pod charges and is always connected to the sound system, hidden in the glove box!!! Wish the navigation system had a few more features but wouldn't be without it-moved to new city....read morehide
