It's a small hatchback, feels like a "mini suv", so you feel every road imperfection, bump, pot hole, etc., which should be expected with this type of car. Haven't had to use the a/c, so can't comment on that; haven't used the heat yet, either. I am concerned about how the Fit will handle in the Northeast winter snowstorms, even with the paddle shifting. Previous Accords did not handle well in over 6 inches of snow. Blown away by the gas mileage, between 35-45 mpg, combined city/hwy driving (yes, automatic!). Really needs window tinting, even just the top quarter/eighth of the windshield. No locks for glove compartment nor hatch. Would love to have a sun roof, even if it was half the size of the other Hondas. First hatchback in over 30 years and so far, so good. No shortage of cup holders; found 8 in my Fit. Recommend the test drive; it's what sold me....read morehide

THIS IS MY 2ND FIT. I WAS IN A HEAD ON COLLISON JUST 3 MONTH'S AGO. THE AIR BAGS AND CRUSH ZONE IN FRONT.....KEPT ME FROM SERIOUS INJURY. A FEW BUMPS AND BRUISES AND KNEE FROM SURGERY EARLIER THIS YEAR. I'LL DO A COMMERCIAL FOR THE HONDA FAT ANYTIME.
HEAD ROOM; STORAGE SPACE, POWER AND GREAT RIDE. ON TOP OF SUPER MILEAGE....read morehide

I am 6'1' and weigh 240 lbs which means I am big. I fit in this car very well and the seats are very comfortable. It feels like your in a much bigger car,but when you get out you realize its not that big! The gas mileage is very good.

We bought this after checking out the Versa, XB and Matrix. Super fun to drive and really comfortable, even for long trips. I am 6'3" and this has headroom left over, even though you are sitting up higher, almost like you might in a minivan. Great visibility, and easy to manuver in parking lots, very easy to get in and out with low rockers and wide doors (esp for a 4 door! We recently took it on a 6 hr+ trip to NYC. We averaged 41mpg with the automatic! Of course, it's a honda so controls are well laid out. Seats and trim have a solid quality feel to them. Versatile seat configurations make this a great family car- we can fit everything we need for a weekend trip to my parents in the Fit! We fold up one half of the rear seat and our big old dog can get in and ride easily. Unless you have 3 kids, this is plenty of car! Please sit in one on the lot, you will be pleasantly surprised....read morehide

Although the sport model was quite a lot more than the base, I chose it because it had remote locking, cruise control and of course it looks really cool. The magic seat is a really nice feature too which gives a spacious cargo area. It feels pretty roomy for a small car ( the Tardis effect). The gas mileage is good but not as good as the European version.
I'm not an aggressive driver so I haven't used the paddle shifters and they're kind of a nuisance because they get in the way when I'm turning the wheel fully around. The front scoop looks cool but is pretty low and a family member has already caught it on a curb and popped it out so now I tend to be extra careful driving over bumps, dips, etc.
I'm fine with the interior except for a couple of things, I need more padding on the arm rests for my bony elbows and the odometer is in a really tacky housing that looks like an afterthought that was bought from a dollar store. And finally I wish it was a plug in hybrid....read morehide

My wife and I bought the Honda Fit because we knew the reliability was excellent for Hondas. We drove Aveos, Cavaliers, HHRs, Kias, Hyundais, Nissans, Toyotas and none of them held a candle to the Fit by Honda.
It rides nice and smooth but tightens up if you start throwing it into the curves, handles great. I love the steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for when you want to whip down the curvy and hilly backroads.
The two front cupholders by the vents in the dash will hold everything but the most monsterous cups, every cup I've gotten has "fit" in them so far.
Speaking of fitting, I am a 6 foot 4 inch tall man almost 300 pounds and I am more comfortable in the car than any of the other cars we drove (see above). The seats are comfortable even for my size, I was expecting the seat side bolsters to dig into my legs and back but the do not, even on a 600 miles car trip, I got out and was not sore, I definately can't say that about my old Hyundai Accent or GMC Jimmy. The Fit is very comfy. AAAA++++++
We have been getting 37-44 mpg combined with mostly city driving. The car keeps track for you, it also has an oil life meter which most other Fit owners claim they get almost 10K miles on an oil change. My only other cars to have an oil life meter was my $40,000 Oldsmobile Aurora and my BMW I used to have, so it's nice to get some extra goodies on an entry level car, much kudos to Honda for that too.
I am a 30+ self proclaimed car guy, I work on, read about, and talk about cars more than any other subject. I am also a mechanic so I know what to look for when buying cars to last a long time. The timing belt is a long life belt which is supposed to last 100K miles, that is unheard of for any other manufacturer. Everything is easily accesible for maintenance.
I was wanting an HHR but the reliability on GMs just killed the idea, I had an old Civic that had over 150K miles on it and I have missed the reliability it always gave me, now we have another Honda and I am sure I will not have to spend thousands on it like I have my other cars. That is really good for me because I can spend more time working on and restoring my classic muscle cars.
I should have gotten the Navigation but oh well, the Fit Sport's 6 speaker stereo is awesome and easy to use, my wife likes it too.
The wheels are beautiful aluminum 16 inchers that fit the cars appearance perfectly, not like the oddly sized small ones on the yaris, echo, aveo and some other small cars.
I am ready to buy another one when my wife's car is paid off, one for me. Best car for my family of 4, I got it from Terry Lee Honda in Indianapolis/Avon Indiana. Ask for Bruce, great guy, not the average salesman, he built houses for the last 20 years so he knows people work hard for their money and he did not try to squeeze us on the deal, level headed and very nice guy. I will definately go back to him....read morehide

Should have purchased the 5 speed manual for better control. Seats are somewhat uncomfortable on long trips of 2 hours or more.

Great car on balance. 2009 models not as stylish as 2008. 2009 colors not as "vivid" as 2008. Easy car to drive and PARK! Car is very versatile and roomy. I like it better than most of the 30 cars I have owned and driven previously. Car could use a little more power on the top end.

Purchased on a Sat.morning in FL, drove it to All Star game in St. Louis, that afternoon. 3 adults one teen. MPG average 37mpg (75mph) We are tall people. Relatively comfortable, headroom, leg room, storage space under rear seats, reminding of airplane seat (put backpacks under them). Teen loved the aux port for ipod. Stereo sounds good. Going through Chatanooga, TN hills needed some extra gas to maintain speed going up. Been averaging 34 mixed city/hwy here at home. Did not expect gray interior to show so much dust on interior on doors. Positive comments from people in parking area, "I like that car, what car is that", (bright blue sport). So far so good with reliability....read morehide

I have had this car now for almost 2 years and love it. I have driven it in the snow and it handles great. I took a trip to Atlanta and got great gas milage, almost 40 mpg on highway and 26 in city. With my trip to Atlanta which was a week. The car was able to hold 2 adults and 1 childs lugage and gifts, with room to spare. I have had lots of cars and have driven several cars this by far is one of the best rides I have had.
I can check the oil, put in my own air filter with no problem. It is very user friendly, and people take a second look at it.
I really love the back seats and how they fold up giving me that extra room to put my bike, laundry or other tall objects....read morehide
