Purchased As New
Bought my H3 in 07 brand-new, & I LOVE IT. I'm really sad GM is doing away with the brand & it really does upset me that H3s get a bad rep as "guzzlers;" I've driven sports cars & SUVs since day 1 & the H3s MPG is on-par if not BETTER than all the others. Onto the review:
**EXTERIOR** Love the looks. Styling is unmistakable, very unique. I went w/the Luxury Pkg, Chrome Mirrors, Fuel Door, Side Tubing & Luggage Rack (black/chrome). The car is VERY tall so make sure you get side tubing, it makes life much easier. The H3 is very suitable for urban living too, with it's (relatively) smaller size compared to it's larger siblings, even parallel parking is easy.
**INTERIOR** Lux Pkg provides HUGE sunroof, Leather Pkg, Heated Seats, Great Sound System, and more toys. Leather is really soft & comfy. Looks are great (I bought black/silver color combo). Almost all controls are easy access & highly visible. Honestly, the interior is where the H3 has its only flaws imo. Rear visibility is not very good, I'm going to need to buy a backup camera. No visor lights were avail. on the 07 models. Also, given that it's a Lux Pkg, I'd expect steering wheel-mounted radio controls, but they weren't even an option. There is no trip computer available on the H3 (ie-calculates your average/actual mpg, miles to empty etc), which is a "toy," but something I've become VERY used to having. What irks me most though, are the Heated seat controls are also a pain to access as they're located on the side of the seat & you can't see what you're doing... why they didn't put the controls near the radio, etc is mind-boggling. Shy of those few issues, I LOVE my car.
**PERFORMANCE** I already spoke about the impressive gas mileage. The car is rugged & drives like it's supposed to. It's neither a race car, nor a smooth driving luxury sedan... don't expect it to be. This is a rugged, off-road vehicle. It's very capable of handling it's off-road duties. Realistically, most people will use this for the everyday commute. I live in Chicago & our winters are MISERABLE; tons of snow & ice, snow plows entrench your car with a barricade of snow. Not a problem for the H3, it can handle ANYTHING, making short work of even the worst winter conditions. Something that does surprise me is that the H3 doesn't have heated SIDE mirrors; they really do make life easier in icy conditions. Summertime driving is a blast too, with the HUGE sunroof & more than ample windows.
** SERVICE / DEALERSHIP** ...with a smile. This is where H3 impressed me the most. The service dept is above & beyond any I've EVER experienced. They'll gladly provide loaners without question, take care of ANY issues you have IMMEDIATELY. The purchase experience was very pleasant too; no pressure, flexible & extremely friendly.
**SUMMARY** I LOVE MY H3! Buy one while you can! I hope the company that does wind up buying the HUMMER brand keeps the quality that GM had....read morehide

I was in an accident in late Oct. Believe it or not I was hit in a parking lot with the right of way to the other vehichle. She hit me on the right side backseat passenger door. Her car hit and wedged underneath my car. I flipped, turned 180 degrees facing the direction I had just come from. Now according to her she was only doing 10. She admitted that she wasn't paying attention so how would she know what speed she was doing? Anyway, I landed on my roof and fell back onto the driver side. The car was amazing! I wasn't hurt bad. But, I have been in accidents before and I know what you feel like a day or two later. Other than my concussion and shoulder, I NEVER felt bad. The car absorbed ALL the shock. It did what it was built for. I could of been badly hurt, but the car took the impact and spared me. I will forever be grateful for the way this car took care of me. Fortunately no one else was with me. I was able to climb out of the car through the passenger side with help. The H3 is a wonderful vehichle and built to withstand a great deal.
Thank you GM. Although you need to work on the blind-spots and gas mileage I HIGHLY recommend this car. I have 3 grandchildren and wanted a vehichle that could protect them. This car can. Now I am trying to explain to my grandson who rode alot in it what happened. He loved it has much as I did!...read morehide

This HUMMER is good for long trips. but it needs some serious work on the fuel economy.

I really love the H3, but would not purchase another because of $4.00 gas prices and low mpg : ( The Jeep Grand Cherokee may be a good alternative.
